+ Locked game speed to 60 fps.
+ Mouse pointer now show item when drag and drop
+ Items movable between slots in inventory
+ Items can now be deleted by drag them from inventory to screen
+ Bug fix, If eating in battle the attack Stop.
+ FPS can be disabled via INI file or command #FPS ON or OFF

+ if no target select make fight not to take place at all. and display error message
+ Fix on server attack to agro attack sooner.
+ Battle spam removed from chat. attacking no longer logs in chat.
+ Kill spam removed from chat. if a kill is done its not logged in chatt anymore.
+ Hover over a Target now Brighten it up.
+ Bug fixed: Attacking npc will stop at 0.5 distant. and just fight.
+ Bug fixed: Dead is now displayed dead too for new players that dint se the kill.
+ Bug fixed: Server: npc with loaded status -health was walking around now fixed.

+Select target inplementet. with a short left mouse click while hovering a NPC. that NPC will be selected as curent target.
+Curent target information hud display now works.

yes its obvius this editor is somthing more than editor. its accaly a MMO too sort of. so deleteing objects must send out to "editor" clients. tat was a risky thing to do but works.

I have not coded to much as i usalu do at summer hollydays. been lacy weeks. but i at least fixed out some new fetures. editor got a nice preview wich show all models one can place in world

* One can now create Holes in terrain. this makes caves and dungeons avaiable.

Curently iam coding the scrïpt and data structure for Ai npc.
not implemented yet as i am parsing text files.
yes its late night here its cause i gona work night tomorow.

now there are 70 NPC in game all sended to client instant. this makes server send about 4 packets of 512 bytes per 200 millisecs. that whold be like 2k*5 = 10kbyts per second. or like 0.1 mbit

this client splits upp world in to 32x32 chunks instead of 32
that enable camera range and camera fog work better.

Progress steped back on gfx egine.(Posted 2008-08-27)
We have decided in team to step back half yaar to old gfx engine. sens the Zbuffer fault and GPU increese is just to much for uss..

Anyway i managed in a couble of days implement so one can se other players move around. and display what they are doing like jump,run,swim,stand still :)

Climbing back some stepps.(Posted 2008-08-12)
My friends and me had a meating a fast one on internet.
how to puch the game forward. and we decided to back the tape a little bitt. and stick to color maps.

there some reason for this.
1 faster devlopment
2 faster game FPS
3 Z buffred alpha will work correct :D
4 Compability increese.

So now i am working on terrain height map. Also i explored som other know online rpgs. and discover some nice things like size of world. and height of player charters.

Still struggeling with the 5000x5000 maps(Posted 2008-07-13)
We want an engine with 5000x5000 yards area.

now i ned to make same engine to use .cell files. cell files is a own made fileformat i simply load the terrain and create theese blocks of files. offcurse there is trouble then generating terrain using blocks instead of one size heigtmap. its a real pain i says... im thinking of making other map smaler like 1000x1000 yards or haveing whole height map in memmory 5000x5000...

Tool making problems.(Posted 2008-07-11)
The world size in tiberion will be as big as media is. as my aim is not to limit mapsize by technical mean.s

i have however strumble over unpredited errors..

problem is i am trying to load a 5000x5000 map and duplicate this giantic map. in order to smoth the data within it.

this fails termenency. as i only have 2gb of ram on my vista laptop. it make a MAV.

so i figuer out a plan-B it is to make a converter and a splitter so one can both smoth and cut out the data into segmnents

this game will be a new kind of rpg. A Mix of wow and the other realtime loaded uppdated games on internet.

Everything will be interactive. Big plans but i am stuck at the starting line for now.. :)

2008-07-07 08:27 Time to code some.. yesterday i have rethinked how the data in the world shold be managabled. i have tryed to design it so one can have several worlds. with difirent size.
also i decided to do the tools to convert the height map images to worlddata. the tools will only work within blitz3d. so no gui. i am going to get the work done fast. and its the only way to to it fast.. no gui.. no commandlie. just pure coding

Code time.(Posted 2008-05-04)
Engine is up to speed now. it runs in 60 fps on my laptop.

World Of Dumbcraft only runs only at 30 fps as max on same laptop.. thats lapppower indeed :D

Well i decided to go with vertex Alpha to paint terrain as it support light. and i can use the Texture blending to make shaddows on terrain.. as it suppose to be used anyways.

well time to go and code..

Now engine holds about 56 to 60 fps. real smoth..
World of Warcraft on this PC is only 33 fps..

I made this giantic 5000x5000 height map in gimp. it alone eats system memmory of 200mbytes. cause its grayscale image.. anyway.. its looking prommesing.
i hope to kep the mapsize up as world is going to be big.

Questions.

Q1: How do i manage to not overload GPU with 5000x5000x2 polys + 5000x5000 vertexes.

A1: Simply by creating world at the fly. ie its created where camera is. and distant set to low 200.


Q2: How fast dose it load up after klicking it on desktop.

A2: 4 Seconds.. as its dynamic engine only renders start point.

Q3: How to prevent the lag while creating the cells.

A3: I have build a Render Que system. so the render takes bit to bit over time. not all at once.

Creating giant world 5000x5000(Posted 2008-04-21)
I am doing the impossible... Creating a world of 5000x5000 yards !
or 5x5 kilometers.

if one create usch world it eats 10GB of RAM.

Me have managed to push down size to only 200 mb..

basic i lett the world consist of cells.. that is rendered there camera is located. so no surface byond camera view exist.. but this cause a new issue LAgg

to overcome the Lagg i am now trying to devide the cell creaton proccess over time..

it is starting to look as somthing..

Networking is taking time(Posted 2008-01-18)
i have test run my engine in a simple lab env. and its working good to have blitz pus tcp in a mmorpg project.

there was a roumor in the forums that blitz basic tcpip will halt program while sending data. usaly its works widout proble. at least untill the tcp timeouts comes :D

anyway network engine is slow progressing..

Building up basic network(Posted 2008-01-05)
I am coding a basic networking, it will use a diferent aproch then i had before.

I will try to make NPC to GOTO X,Y,Z insdead of updateing every packet.

this will make game work smother.

Also it will enable more NPC at screen at one time.


My coworker DemoDog is working on the Strategic part of game. the ability system etc.. i belive i also doing good.

Some new models delivired from Melvin has ben importen into the editor.

A new modeler Daniel Queen has ben added to Crew.

We are now total of 4 in this team. so maby one cold say we are 1 working half time on this project now :D

2008 january seam verry prommising anyways.

I completed the Vertex height editor.

Now then useres moves a vertex in heigt map it will be broadcast to all other users instant.

Now how to make this realtime is a hard question. Patch system works. but it takes verry long time to update coardinates that has ben editet.

over 3.500.000 vertices to check every upates accure.

new Tiberion World Shapes up(Posted 2007-12-12)
Today i have ben messingwith the height map and colormap. making them stored in Int and floats instead of just a BMP image. Also i smothed the landscape and it looks verry nice and flatt after that.

I have modeled a portal and some new trees

Fixed a bugg that caused the triss to increese incredible. making editor slow. now tris per screen is about 50.000 to 90.000

Right now i am coding a MMRPG editor. that is al online edit enabled. no data storage at my pc. its all on server. with chatt and all ... realy cool to se some one else edit the level :D
