BMP to WAV

Return to Worklogs

a bit of maths(Posted 2009-02-12)
ok so ive made some 24 bit .bmp and CD quality .wav files for comparison
.bmp's are 4:3 ratios starting with 320*240 up to 4096*3072 (i still need to make the odd one here and there)
and originally i was just going to have 15, 30, 45 and 60 seconds but ended up with more smaller options too

anyway here is a comparison
.bmp size .wav	size
0320*0240 226kb 00:02 345kb
0640*0480 901kb 00:09 1,551kb
0800*0600 1,407kb 00:10 1,723kb
1024*0768 2,305kb 00:15 2,585kb
4096*3072	36,865kb 03:35	37,038kb

i could have rounded up to 03:40 but it would mean 5 extra seconds of silence, mind you depending on the .bmp it might be 5 seconds of silence after 03:35 of intence white noise and a well earned ear break

spread the word not the disc

if i broke both of my hands i wouldnt be able to wsad + mouse but i could dual thumb stick through the cast and pain killers ;)

Elevator Music for Guantánamo Bay Volume 2(Posted 2009-02-12)
Note: Volume 1 was a bass FX demo CD that i jokingly refered to as Elevator Music for Guantánamo Bay

a few years (and 2 pc's) ago i asked around here (and the irc chat room) and 'boiled a kettle' about bitmap to wave conversions. i found a few good links and took my first real steps with hex editors, what i needed to do was take out the .bmp header (preferably 24/32 bit colour and 1024*768 minimum resolution) and paste it over a similar sized cd quality stereo .wav padding out the difference with silence, i think i got a basic version to work but it wasnt what id hoped for, not after trying some pd/share/freeware versions
i belive zenith was the one who said all bit maps sounded like helecopters to him

anyhoo this is just a basic first post
