Yeap, its another "First Person Shooter"... I bought Blitz3D about a month ago, and decided to enbark on a project (the only way to learn something). It's called "Omaha Assault" and it's a clone of the landing at Omaha recreated in "Medal of Honour:Allied Assault". Everything started when I saw the spectacular "Saving Private Ryan". After that I heard that Electronic Arts would launch a game that would feature the landing, so my interest in how someone would do that increased. I bought the game and its a greeeeaaat game! After that I begun to wonder if it was possible to do something like that in Blitz3D and so, here I am fighting with the number of frames per second and lots of objects... I plan to release it as Open Source Code.I learning a few things with it and sometimes we have to give something back to the community (in this case, this good community of Blitz3D users). What is already done: - 80% of the AI (using a kind of "finite state machine") - different types of guns - atmosferic sound - scenario definition is kept in a separated file What is not done: - better models and graphics (right now i'm concentrating in the AI) - mortar and explosion effects - bullet tracer effects - increase to the maximum the number of 'live' objects (now, is just 40 soldiers) I'll post some screenshots when available.
