Hi folks,

I am writing a beginners book for monkey and in my next chapter I need to cover XNA. My question is if I can test XNA, with the simulator, without being signed up for a developer account at microsoft. Do to money reasons I can't do that and would need quickly to do a different chapter at first till I can sign up next month.

A quick answer would be awesome.

Thanks
Michael

You can download the Windows tools and play with them without a paid account. You can't test on a 360 without paying.

You can develop and test on a PC without a developers membership. You will need a membership to deploy and test your game on an Xbox.

Mike,

If you are going to test on Windows Phone emulation you can do this without an account. You just need a WDDM 1.1 compliant video card to do gaming (or 1.0 for Silverlight).

The emulator is fully hardware driven so it is apparently very good considering.
