Nexus 10 showing as Incompatible on Play Store
Monkey Targets Forums/Android/Nexus 10 showing as Incompatible on Play Store
| ||
Probably more devices, I'm not sure, but Twittererer @arron_shutt has noticed that Monkey games are no longer display as compatible when browsing the Play Store with his Nexus 10. I'm unsure as to why this would be, (and am wholeheartedly guessing and taking a stab in the dark, here) but am assuming it's to do with Monkey's lack of "The fourth, newer, bigger, icon size" It's either that, or my lack of "Screenshots for Tablet Devices", but then I also don't have screenshots for 7" tablets, and the games are showing up fine on my Nexus 7... Hence why I'm guessing it's the Icon thing that's doing it. If he grabs the apk and manually installs it, it runs fine, so I know it's not a true incompatibility.. Definitely Play Store being tetchy for some reason. Thoughts? |

humm, well you most phone today do 1080p and I guess ain't tablets but those new fangled phablets, Nexus 10 has some crazy resolution, maybe adding tablet screens would work, be nice to know. |
| ||
From what I've read its either something to do with the screen size or maybe the camera setting in the manifest. Try adding: <uses-feature android:name="android.hardware.camera" android:required="false"/> (Even though some tablets have a camera, Google Play messes it up) |

Also I never heard about findings problems of my app on Tablets. I did nothing special for offering it to tablet too and it looks like it is avaiable for all devices. Only once it disappeared in the GooglePlay: I added a SMS writing possibility in the app and from this moment it was not longer avaiable in the store for tablets. |
| ||
In the developer console, click on the APK link and it should display the number of Supported devices and Excluded devices: |

I have doubts that this works proper: When I had the "SMS" problem the developer console showed me 0 excluded devices, but a beta tester told me, the app was not longer visible in the store for him... |

"In the developer console, click on the APK link and it should display the number of Supported devices and Excluded devices" My latest Android game shows 0 excluded but yet will not install from Google Play onto Nexus 10. The previous games did fine and I haven't made any changes between then and now - so this is something that has happened over the previous 4 to 6 weeks. |

@caffeinekid - just to be clear, your previous games did (but now do not) install ok on Nexus 10? If that's the case, something has clearly changed at Google's end.. have they just got "stricter", so unless something is tablet optimised (see the other thread), it doesn't appear as installable on tablets like the Nexus 10? |
| ||
Yes my previous games worked fine. I am trying to release one a month... The one I released in April worked fine, the one in May said incompatible with Nexus 10 in the Google Play store, but would install fine on it from an apk. I'm assuming Google has made the change from the manifests of new titles or it's because we haven't uploaded 10" tablet screenshots, but it seems a bit strange and silly that Nexus 7 still works absolutely fine both ways. |

Click on "APK" -> "Manage excluded devices" -> Click on the tab "Manually excluded" and choose "Unsupported" There you can look for the Nexus device. |

I just this past hour uploaded my new game does the Nexus 10 pick this up on the play store? Perry the Penguin |

Yeah, it's supported by the Nexus 7. Edit: Ahh ... never mind. You're looking for the Nexus 10 ... sry |

@arron_shutt is now suggesting our games are listed as compatible again. I'm going to assume this was nothing more than a GooglePlay botch up. *shrugs* If anyone knows of another "says it isn't compatible" device, it'd be nice to look into this a little deeper. |
