how many sounds can be played at any one time. i have a tower defence game with several towers which have different sounds and sometimes they play but mostly dont. some play perfectly all the time.having probs getting my head around this. i think i read somewhere there are 32 channels so does this mean 32 sounds can be played

Ive got a little class which plays a sound and increments the channel, so that a sound is played in a different channel each time (max of 32)... this works most of the time - Ive seen ((not?)heard) some sounds not play too.

yeah i just downloaded it and saw your example. i changed my code so the channel rotates and it works most of the time but misses now and again as well its probably good enough for my needs, now i just gotta figure playing a continuos background tune.

Best to use PlayMusic for that...
