Bad Bros - old skool ass kicking

Several months back before I took a hiatus from monkey, i began working with a friend on a little old skool beat-em-up type game which i called "Bad Bros".

Dunno if i will continue on this project again or not.

Anyways, screens :

Download for Mac
Download for PC

Controls (quite buggy) :
move left - left arrow key
move right - right arrow key
run - arrow key twice in either left or right direction
jump - up arrow key
drop down a platform - down arrow key
attack - z key
"upper cut" - a key, I think this was suppose to be an uppercut...

Apparently, if you have a 360 controller, it also works too (PC version).

My attempt at a "combo system" :
rapidly attacking - throws an attack combination
super kick - run, then attack will perform a super kick on contact
super jump kick - run, then jump, then attack will perform a "super jump kick"

Note : occasionally, the player may freeze up for some odd reason. This is a bug.

what made you decide to take a hiatus?

Looking great! I would continue with it.

what made you decide to take a hiatus?

Had to find and buy my first house, moved in, other family stuff..etc. I'm sorta settled in now, though not quite unpacked yet. Just trying to get back into my game dev zone again when i pulled this little proof of concept fighting code up the other day :).

kinda looks like a bloke is beating up children,

The baddies look good, if the good guy was the same size it would look cool.

Lol, someone did mention the words "child abuse" to me once when playing this :).

Actually, the little sprite is from Mighty Final Fight. I was just using him as a template enemy character. The difference in character size was due to graphic's guy not wanting to resize the fighter sprite. So i just basically left it the way it and kept on working at it since i was more focused on the fighting engine instead.

For anyone interested in checking it out, i added download links to the first post. Pardon the bugs.

I was going to try it, but the Mac version is requiring 10.8, not 10.7.5 in case anyone else wanted to try it that was on Lion. So, I guess I'll have to wait until I update to a new Mac.

Still, the game looks cool anyways. :)
