Hi all, I've been working on a minigame for the #onegameamonth thing. I started this last weekend when the Global Game Jam was going on and have spent a couple more days on it.

Let me know what you think!

haha. nice! maybe a little to bright for a zombie game.

Grey Alien(Posted 2013) [#3]
Thanks for the feedback, good point. Maybe I'll just have a super dark level.

Neuro(Posted 2013) [#4]
Looks cool grey! Really like that 3d-dungeonesque look. Nice to see different stuff being built using monkey :).

Grey Alien(Posted 2013) [#5]
Thanks. The 3D is all totally fake btw, made it in photoshop.

Neuro(Posted 2013) [#6]
Fake or not its the end results that counts :)

Grey Alien(Posted 2013) [#7]
Yep agreed! It won't ever look like grimrock but hopefully it captures a vibe.

slenkar(Posted 2013) [#8]
quite nice, try to give it a good story

Grey Alien(Posted 2013) [#9]
Yep will do.

I like it.
The 3D-like environment resembles "Eye of the beholder" serie on Amiga.
Just turn it darker (like EoB) and you're done. :)

Jesse(Posted 2013) [#11]
liking it! I can see a really scary game like slender man out of it.

Grey Alien(Posted 2013) [#12]
Yeah EotB was a classic Amiga game, also Dungeon Master (was before EotB), and Captive and Bloodwych(?) and more. There will be dark levels, these are just the intro levels.

So I'm thinking about controls for iOS. How about:

- tap to move forward
- swipe left/right to turn
- swipe back to move back.

No sidestep. Apparently sidestep confuses some players anyway BUT it can allow you to navigate faster and avoid enemies easier so some hardcore players may find the lack of it annoying...

rIKmAN(Posted 2013) [#14]
That sounds like it would be fine, but it depends on how you are going to use the combat mechanic.

For example if it is going to be fast paced and the player can be attacked from the side and behind it would be nice to be able to spin/scroll by hold swiping left/right (to see if any enemies are there) and then it could smoothly snap into whatever position as needed when the swipe is released.

Having to swipe 3 times to see an enemy behind me would start to get annoying unless the combat was paced so that it wouldn't be an issue.

Grey Alien(Posted 2013) [#15]
Thanks for the feedback. it would only be two swipes to see behind. I was planning on having a simple tap to attack an enemy in front. Same as moving forward.

John Galt(Posted 2013) [#16]
Looking good, Grey. It's pretty damned atmospheric for a mini game.

Grey Alien(Posted 2013) [#17]
Thanks John! Yeah it seems to have a good atmosphere, now I just need to finish it (as a minigame) and get it out there.

Neuro(Posted 2013) [#18]
it would only be two swipes to see behind.

I'd think there should be an instant "turn around" button or long swipe or something for that.

Grey Alien(Posted 2013) [#19]
Oh yeah, for the 180 turn, like in Resident Evil 2 (it was notably missing from no. 1)

rIKmAN(Posted 2013) [#20]
+1 for 180 turn.

Amon(Posted 2013) [#21]
Looks cool!
