I see from the docs that monkey networking accepts a string as a address does this allow for ipv6 strings or is it still ipv4? I ask as I have a ipv6 router and want to move to using both protocols if possible to make the game I have been working on as accessible as possible :)

it does show the knowledge Base has gone elsewhere running tests it does seem to be ipv4 only here.
