V71 not longer for XP?

Monkey Forums/Monkey Programming/V71 not longer for XP?

Is V71 not longer working on a XP system? The 'product update' page offers it only for Win7/8. Has somebody experiences with V71 on XP?

Should work.

Midimaster(Posted 2013) [#3]
"Should" is nice. Does anybody knows something about an official statement from Mark about monkey future on XP?

Are there reasons why he removed XP from the platforms?

Xaron(Posted 2013) [#4]
I can only guess that he simply has no XP system anymore. Even Microsoft dropped support for it so why should Mark care about that?

There is nothing special Windows 7/8 stuff in Monkey beside the Win 8 target. So yes, it WILL work with XP, no doubts.

Care to explain the "not work". Is is TED what's not working, the compiler, ???

SLotman(Posted 2013) [#6]
I for one, care *a lot* about XP. I'm developing a mobile game (under contract), and it has to have a working build for XP SP2.

I don't know if TED runs on XP or not - but games compiled with MingW do work on XP afaik.

Edit: Yes, games compiled with MingW do run on XP SP2, I just tested it.

by the definition of the topic it shouldnt work on linux but does quite nicely

If QT5 works on XP then Ted should as well. If not then just recompile Ted in QTCreator.

Midimaster(Posted 2013) [#9]
to clarify: I do not have any problem with my V71 on XP. I only wanted to ask, if anybody knows, why the XP is not longer refered as platform...

Xaron(Posted 2013) [#10]
I'd say it's just a typo. ;)

I think you've misread the page.

Create Windows, Windows 8, Windows Phone 7 and 8 apps. Admittedly 'Windows' is a bit vague - it's meant to imply XP/Vista/7.

Windows Requirements: Windows XP/Vista/7/8

The Monkey requirements - fully XP compatible!

Windows, to give credit where credit is due, has always been super-backward compatible.

TeaBoy(Posted 2013) [#13]
Installed V72a, seems to have no problems with WinXP SP3.
