Details on this new version:
This new version should bring a small performance improvement over previous version and fixes some small issues that were reported on previous version.
This version also brings a new feature called "Notes". This new feature allows you to create navigable named bookmarks on documents. Those bookmarks that can be accessed globally on a new "Notes" panel, or locally on each file on the local shortcuts tree.
This is very useful to integrate TODO lists on any document or solution, but also can be used to leave development detail notes when working on a team, or just leave important reminders for future reference.

This is the detailed changelog:


Jungle Ide 13.04.29-A

� Fixed an issue that was preventing the recent documents list and recent solutions list to be properly serialized between IDE runs.

� Added a new parameter to the parser color schema editor. This new parameter allows token-less parsers such as the TXT parser to define a global fore color for its text rendering instead of defaulting always to black.

� Removed the space used by the Language Navigation combo boxes on parsers that do not provide this kind of navigation, so there's more space for the source code area.

� Implemented a new and faster updates downloading system that should allow Jungle Ide updates to download up to 10x faster due to several optimizations.

� Modified the way the CefSharp framework integrates into Jungle Ide so it is now also compiled at install time.

� Made some performance improvements in general Jungle Ide Parsing and rendering. Jungle should be noticeably faster on some computers.

� Added some jungleide.com shortcuts to the jungle ide Help menu, so it's easier to access to the Jungle Ide community forums, and to the licenses section, etc.

� New feature: Notes. This new feature allows you to create navigable named bookmarks on documents that can be accessed globally on a new "Notes" panel, or locally on each file on the local shortcuts tree.

Thank you for the notes, very useful. What note tags can we use? Just "note" or something like "todo", "fixme" is also available?

Icing on the cake would be an option to define custom tags and sort the list by tag priority, but that's probably too much to ask for :)

To cause it to read the message as "TODO" or "FIXME", simply write "Note: TODO: Something" or "Note: FIXME: Something"

A new Jungle Ide update is available.
Jungle Ide 13.06.01-A

Fixed an issue that was making the Jump to definition jump to the root definition of any overload. It now jumps to first immediate parent implementation (as expected).

Fixed an issue that was not solving properly prefixed class name clashes, and was confusing classes such as map.Node and list.Node

Fixed an issue that was introducing some overloading resolving issues when inheriting classes with generics and overloading methods with generic parameters in it.

Added support for new official monkey documentation system

Added F1 support for new docs, while keeping backwards compatibility with older documentation versions

Integrated the MakeDocs utility into Jungle Ide. Its available from the Monkey menu.

Small optimization on the intellisense data-type provider. Jungle Ide is now faster on solving intelliprompt requests.


Unless you've disabled it, Jungle Ide should auto update automatically after a restart or, if you want to update manually, go to Help / Check for Jungle Ide updates.

Jungle Lite and Demo will be updated soon too

The more specific jump to definition is much more useful. Thanks.

One thing that's been bugging me for a while that should be an easy fix is the way the search window scrolls. Every input on the scrollbar or scroll wheel produces a paging navigation. I'd normally expect my scroll wheel and the scroll arrows to produce movements of a few lines.

Also the paging itself is an actual entire page. This makes it difficult to track position as you page. Page movements generally move less than a page so that a subsection of the information remains visible to avoid this problem.

Fixing these two issues would make the search window much more usable for me.

Also, while I'm in the area:

* Generate List doesn't add the term to the search history

* If you generate a list of results, select a result and then generate another list the list window doesn't reset its scroll position. This means that generating a shorter list can result in a blank window.

I'm preparing a new version that, among some fixes and improvements, is adding a new "Tips" for newcomers (can be disabled VERY easily on prefences).
I would like to know of any aspects of Jungle Ide that you wish you had a small tip or explanation first time you used it, so it's easier to adopt Jungle Ide when you're a newbie.

I've added now:
1.- A tip when you have loaded/open a solution and you create a standalone file. It tells you that this file is not part of the solution and that you need to load/create it from the solution explorer for it to be part of the solution

2.- A tip when you hit F5 or F6 but you have "bypassed" the compiler so it won't compile. It tells you that you have to select another compilation mode.

All the tips have an individual "don't show this again", so it's very unintrusive, but I think it can be handy. Specially when new features are added or you're using the IDE for the fist time.

Now, I would love to know any suggestion you may have for additional useful tips you would love to have had before.

Nice! but where should I fire them?
What I'm not doing is a start-up tips window (wich should be trivial to add) but a tips system that helps you as you do specific things in the IDE.... ?
Maybe a start-up tips window is a good idea too.

I get this tips:
You can press Ctrl+U to toggle full screen edition of your source code documents.
You can Press Ctrl+N to add a note into your source code. This note is like a named bookmark you can go back to at any time. Very useful to add TODO notes in source code
You can select a block of source code and press Ctrl+M to comment it. Also shift+Ctrl+ uncomments it.
You can duplicate current source code line with just pressing Ctrl+D
PressF4 to toggle a bookmark in current line
Should you want to go to the location of the file you're editing in Windows Explorer? Press Ctrl+E and you're done!
Shit+F11 will let you fold all the identifiers or your source code at definition level, so you get a skeleton of your document.
Press F1 to get help on the keyword under the caret when editing source code.
To make quick and fast test on Monkey, you can just press Shift+Ctrl+N and a temporary Monkey file will be created for you to test anything.

Not sure what else could be a good candidate for a start-up tip. Also, any correction that may be required in my English is more than welcome!

Pressing Ctrl+U will toggle between full screen (Detached and maximized document window) mode and tabbed (normal) mode for the current active source code document that has focus.

Press Ctrl+N to add a note into your source code directly to the right of the current text cursor. A note is a special type of bookmark formatted in your source document with a comment code (single apostrophe) followed by the word "note" with a colon ('note: ). The note text shows up in a "Notes" tab in the IDE and you navigate directly to the source location with a convenient hyperlink. You can also type the note tag ('note: ) directly or use the Ctrl+N shortcut as desired. Notes provide a good way to add TODO bookmarks to your source code and any other type of reminder or code notation.

Ctrl+M will comment out a block of selected code, single selected line, or the line where the text cursor is currently located. Pressing Shift+Ctrl+M will uncomment the selection or line accordingly.

You can duplicate a line of source code by pressing Ctrl+D. This will create a copy of the line where the text cursor is currently located and paste it directly below the current active line.

Press F4 to toggle a bookmark in current line. Bookmarks allow for quick and easy source code navigation while you are coding. To navigate the bookmarks, press Shift+F4 to jump to the next bookmark and Ctrl+F4 to jump to the previous bookmark. You can clear all the bookmarks in the source document by pressing Shift+Ctrl+F4.

Pressing Ctrl+E will open Windows Explorer taking you directly to the folder for the current active source code document that has focus.

Shift+F11 will fold all the identifiers or your source code at definition level producing a compact version of your document allowing for quick navigation to specific definitions when dealing with large source files.

Press F1 while editing source code to get context sensitive help on the keyword under the text cursor.

I wish there were a "delete build folder" button. :) I know I can hit Ctrl-E to get to the folder and do it myself, but I run into this all the time because I develop on multiple machines and sync via Dropbox...

More tips I think deserve to be in the popup:

- You can manage multiple Monkey installs easily with the settings.
- explanation of the background compiler, and also that you can turn it off for CPU

delete build folder is solved by selecting a "Clean" build. It will delete the folder and then build the app.

Oh wow. How did I miss that?

And actually, I just checked in the docs, and I don't see anywhere that you cover the differences between build modes. It just says

"The second one, allows you to select the build mode (usually Update, Build, Run or Clean)"

Frankly, I have always just used "Run" since I want to test after a build anyway. So this could maybe be expanded in the docs, or added to the tips list. :)

another Jungle Ide update is available. This time it includes a bunch of fixes and lots of improvements.

The most noticeable addition is a new version of the IDE layout skin that has better proportions, and helps diferenciating stand alone documents from Solution/project documents by using different tab colors in each case.

This is a brief changelog:

Jungle Ide 13.06.15-A
Fixed an stability issue that could cause a GDI rendering crash when a document was open and the document container area was completely empty

Fixed an issue that was making a Generate List on the search dialog to not store the search query in the search history combo

Fixed an issue that was making the Search Results list window to not update its vertical scrolling after a new search was performed

Fixed an issue that could make the Recent solutions history, or recent documents history to not be 100% accurate

Fixed an issue that was making a detached floating editor window to lose focus when the ESCAPE key was pressed

You're acreating a new file...

"acreating" should be "creating"

Also, in the Settings->Tips

Explain the file management is done due the Solution Explorer when a new solution is created

I think the one part was supposed to be something like "...is done by the Solution Explorer..."

If you thought creating a Monkey lexer and parser was complicated, go and add support for multiple inheritance on it (for interfaces) and a system to handle cyclic inheritance references...

The good news, I'm testing it but a new update will be out very soon with this new functionality. Also the parser is slightly faster now.

Hey Ziggy, a couple small bugs/annoyances:

- If you have a split code window (top and bottom), and you do a search, the result is always in the bottom, regardless of which pane has focus.

- Whenever you click in the code area, the Local Shortcuts pane highlights the filename of the file in the tree view. With a large file, if you are moving around using Local Shortcuts, this can mean a lot of scrolling. It would be nice if it

a) didn't select the filename unless you switched files
b) was actually smart enough to jump to the right entry in the shortcuts based on what function you clicked in (this one is totally a luxury really... I just don't want to have to keep scrolling the shortcuts list!)

Still loving Jungle! :)

Next version will have a centralized single Monkey compiler configuration instead of a per-project Monkey compiler configuration, as it was creating confusion instead of easier usability. I hope everyone is ok with this.

I might have miss something important. What is the per project Monkey configuration ?!
I have 3 current projects, one is made with v68 and i need to change the current Monkey version in Jungle each time i switch from one to other (and crashing jungle every time while building the module database if I don't close the previous solution before, but that's not the point).
I would like to have a per Solution Monkey version, is what you are proposing related to that ?

What is the per project Monkey configuration ?!
It is per project Monkey compiler configuration. Current Jungle Ide version, you can have different targets (HTML5, GLFW, etc) for the several projects in a single solution. That is forcing people to choose one file from the main project in order to change the main project target, degub/release, or anything. This will be no longer needed in next version as the compiler configuration will be global. Much easier to work with.

This serves exactly zero purpose except to annoy you when you happen to be editing a file in a sub-project, change the build target and then realise that the option has nothing to do with the actual resulting executable for the solution.

I couldn't explain the issue any better. Next version won't have this behavior any more.

I've just added an internal additional phase into the Module database builder that can read monkeydoc documents and associate to the commands intellisense pop-ups.

What that means is that now you'll see a brief description (or the like) on any command you use, on the parameter hint pop-up, or in the autolists members selection pop-up, etc.

I found it very handy and a godsend when you're learning new documented modules.

This system works in parallel to the original Jungle Ide documentation system, so you can use both at the same time.

You can already do this on Monkey by adding the appropriate #WHATEVER_CONFIG into your main project file.
You can also import the generated Config.monkey document into your solution so you can open it at any time and modify it in a per target basis.

Well, the equivalent way to set a main file, is to create a project. That is used not only for build, but also to calculate files inter-dependency to provide intellisense and solve import sentences. It's very easy to get a project up and running and has much more functionality that the lock build file.

I meant the Monkey version number, not config defines. I have 3 current projects, one made with version 68 (Lucky Pirate on FaceBook) that needs periodical enhancements but I don't want to change the compiler version now. WireFred still uses v70 because I need to change http request part. And PopCorn that uses the last beta version. Every time I switch to work on another project, I change the Monkey directory to the right version (v68, v70, v72b) in Jungle. So, my question was: is there a way to have a different Monkey version/directory per solution ?

Improved internal parser speed

Fixed an issue that was making the Local shortcuts window to modify the selected item when the document was clicked.

New setting to disable the usage of system fonts in the autolists windows.

New Monkey Compiler settings management. From this version, the Monkey Compiler settings are global to the whole coding session so its a lot easier to handle the compiler status.

Integrated all the monkeydoc documentation into the intellisense system. This newly added official modules documentation system does not replace Jungle Ide documentation system. They can currently co-exists without any issues. Notice that in-source documentation has preference over external monkeydoc files. And also notice that same-folder monkeydoc files has preference over monkeydoc folder stored files.

Prevented the scenario where two instances of Jungle Ide launching the Monkey parser at the same time could mutually block access to the Monkey modules database.

New look for the helpful hint window. Its now much more integrated into the rest of the IDE look and feel.

Internal module updates check could block access to the MonkeyDB file in the background when Jungle Ide was being loaded in some computers. This has been fixed.

Monkey parser is automatically loaded on the background while the IDE starts, so Jungle IDE gets its Monkey intellisense built even faster at every launch of the IDE

ziggy, silly question (and maybe feature request): Does Jungle keep some sort of standardized copy of the fully parsed and highlighted code in memory? Would it be easy to export a snippet of code in a rich text, html or similar format for use in other places? I'm starting to like Jungle's syntax highlighting even more than the version of VS I use and would like that same sort of highlighting on code snippets on wikis I use to paste Monkey code in for reference, especially for code documentation :)

(Also it would make it easier to write something to make a "code prettifying" manip app for that cool vector zoom/3d rotate like instacod.es has)

Jungle ide now can (and does) keep an RTF version of the parsed text at the first parsing phase (not lexed). You can just copy and paste the text on wordpad to get a colored copy of it (without lexing)

pretty cool! I was hoping for some form of fully-lexed formatting to poop out, since pygments, geshi and friends already do some level of Monkey adequate for certain wiki jobs, but this is still pretty neat and with a tiny bit of tweaking to the pasted output, can still make a good base for vectorized images of code :)

I did some checking to see if I could answer my own question earlier about monkeydoc params. The first thing I checked was to see if monkeydoc even supports params. I haven't found explicit support of generating html from params in makedocs, but (at least in 74a), there appear to be param lists in the .monkeydoc files themselves. Is this feature not complete?

The notion of sucking up descriptions from params would be that in addition to the description given when the function is being written out, that the arguments would both be highlighted and the param description given in the tooltip. Right now, from what I can tell, the param description is still not given.

That being said, the listing of params in the monkeydoc documentation appears to be incomplete, and I haven't found anything in there yet for a "Returns:" parameter..

With all that being said, is there a technical reason that params aren't supported yet? Particularly in Jungle -- Is it because Mark is still working on this part? Is it undocumented? I'd like to use monkeydoc for my own code, especially for IDE integration, but I heard inklings about 4 months ago that it wasn't what everyone wanted and that's the last I'd heard official word on the status of monkeydocs. It can be brought up to the integration level javadocs has in IDEs like Eclipse, I'm sure.

Something that I have been experiencing is when you hit Ctrl+Space for auto complete, the auto-complete window closes before you get a chance to make a selection.

It might be due to releasing CTRL too early, at least that is what it seems like. If I hold down CTRL for longer, then it seems to behave more consistent.

Hey ziggy!

Perhaps its time to get yourself a Mac? =8O

I've had the same MacBook Pro from February of 2007... The only issues I have now with it is that its gotten so far past the support from Apple that I can't upgrade it past Lion :(... It needs a new battery, and the keyboard just started going out on it. I've only replaced the battery once and only upgraded the OS from 10.4 through to 10.7 as each version came out. I'll be upgrading within the next year. See, if you DID get a Mac, we could possibly get Jungle and BLide for Mac! One could dream, right? =8D

All joking aside (and I understand that you can't just switch like that), good luck getting your computer up and going. It ALWAYS is hard when your main system goes out.

Small issue writing binary "%1010" is instantly converted to "% 1010" by the syntax formatter(A great feature BTW!), which causes a compiler error. Sounds silly but I can't see a way around this?

Hi Ziggy, did you spot the issue I am having noted above?

Something that I have been experiencing is when you hit Ctrl+Space for auto complete, the auto-complete window closes before you get a chance to make a selection.

It might be due to releasing CTRL too early, at least that is what it seems like. If I hold down CTRL for longer, then it seems to behave more consistent.

@grovey: This is a side effect of the threaded Monkey parser. When it builds the outlining (the folding nodes and status) it makes something wrong with the autolisdt window. I think it caused by a sync operation between threads. I *think* I'll be able to solve it in next version, but it's not an easy fix and I'll be testing it a lot before including the fix on a release, as it could break other things. I know it is not a major issue, but something I wish to have solved as soon as possible.

This update fixes some small bugs and also allows Jungle Ide to load a bit faster.
From this version, Jungle Ide will remember the list of available targets between runs, so it can start faster. This means that, whenever you install a new target, you'll have to refresh the list of available targets for the new target to appear.

Feature request for intelliprompt: If possible, can we get support for "late-bound" types? Particularly for use with EachIn. I use the following convention for EachIn because Jungle recognizes a local var only when it's explicitly typed:

Intelliprompt pops up after the "o." with the proper methods for its type here, but can't determine it when used like this:

For local o:=EachIn ListOfTs


this is particularly important when trying to get generic values of T from say, MapKeys or MapValues, since the return type has to be cast to T from Object or MapKeys or whatever the compiler expects. When using the "late-bound" syntax, casting isn't necessary, but T would need to be guessed somehow in order to get the member list for intelliprompt to work.

It might be a little OT but....does anybody know why, with only intellisense and autocompletion on, even editing a single 200 line file everything is very slow?
Sometimes while adding a new field to a class i start typing and i have few seconds of delay before the word appear on screen.
My system is a windows 7 home laptop, with nvidia card, 4 gig of ram and a 250 gig HD, recently formatted as well.
If i open the same file in ted everything is lightning fast (but no autocompletion, intellisense and extra colouring...).

I would really like to fix this for you, but need a bit more of information as I have never experienced this kind of slowdowns, but the parsing jungle ide is doing is quite complex, so it may be just something that you have set up in a very speciffic way.

Plase, read the aforementioned thread and, as soon as you can provide more information, or a sample project, or a list of installed modules, or just your current jungle ide framework folder in a ZIP file (you can remove the stored updates from there as it may be several MiB) I'll be checking what can be causing the slowdown, and fix it as much as possible.

EDIT: Also, when this happens, what does the taks manager says about jungle ide usage (and ny potential sub-process)?

I'm using Jungle lite and I get the same effect here of it taking its time to respond when I do anything, from typing a word, indenting, or just hitting enter at the end of a line. I've sort of got used to it as I'm not exactly a quick typist or programmer :)

My project is stored and loaded from a NAS box and I have a quad core with hyper threading enabled if that makes any difference?

Upgraded to the full version of Jungle last week after my trial ran out - when you've been using the lite version, you really do not want to go back to the Monk IDE or even lose Intellisense. Great product!

Just one quick question regarding Intellisense, it works sometimes and not others - just wondering if I'd turned something off or if this is normal.

When I'm initializing a field at the time it is declared with a constant, Intellisense is not working...

i.e.

Const GAME_PLAY:Int = 1 


So when I create my field later on in my object with:

Field gameState:Int = game_play 
<---- here it will not pop up with a list of all my GAME_ constants. Of course this will throw an error as game_play is not defined.

However, if later on in my OnCreate() Method I type:

gameState = game_play
<---- it will work, and will automatically capitalize it to GAME_PLAY correctly.

Hello!

I've managed to increase parser speed on critical complex situations where a very big framework was being used, or very long inheritance structures were involved on the resolution of the internal abstract syntax trees.

The good news, this performance improvement is huge even on very small setups, and can be noticed on regular usage too.

As it has involved changing a lot of things in the internal parser, I've released a small BETA verion on the "Licenses" page of Jungle Ide.

Anyone willing to help ensuring it's not only fast, but also very stable (as it seems), feel free to download and try this BETA version and provide feedback.

I've been testing it yesterday and I'll be testing some more days before promoting it to official.

EDIT: I suppose this makes sense; it seems that this new version has a positive impact on battery life on my laptop. Not that I've been able to properly measure it, it's just a subjective impression based on compared usage with previous version. This better parser uses a lot less of CPU for its calculations, so I *think* that can safe a bit of power.

Ok Jungle Ide Update available!

This new update does not bring new functionality, but there have been lots of changes behind the scenes. All in all, you should experience a very evident performance improvement when dealing with big projects, big documents or evem when using big frameworks on small projects or solutions.

All in all, the internal intellisense engine is a bit smarter at resolving binding and does so a lot faster than before and this affects most Jungle Ide areas, but it's specialy noticeable on the source code lexed rendering.

Implemented several heavy optimizations to the parser that prevents Jungle Ide from getting slower when a very complex module's AST structure is involved.

I have not found a way to replicate it, it happens randomly, I only have one html page open at the time. (It also happens on my PC and Laptop)

-Close browser and click on Jungle and randomly it happens. I have to close the file and open it again for the folding icons to come back.

Thanks Ziggy, Monkey almost feels like an interpreted language now. Makes picking up the language a lot easier IMHO.

The only problem I've seen is when I tested my game on Android/Release(it crashed and I killed it on the tablet), I then ran it for GLFW the IDE froze on the Run click. The consoles last output was "Sending kill signal...".

After a few minutes this appeared...

It's not relevant as long as Jungle Ide is responding. The background compiler is being launched in the background in a low priority thread, so it may take some time to appear, but Jungle Ide should allow you to work meanwhile. So not any issue.

EDIT: I've found a small bottleneck when you have "reload latest solution" enabled and also the "check for jungle ide updates" at the same time, as the reload was happening after the check for updates process has complete, while it should not. I'll be releasing a non crytical fix ASAP. Anyway, it just means that with this combination of preferences, it takes a little more to launch.

@Raul: The compilation error is caused by you uing an outdated version of the Monkey compiler. The error-report mechanism is based always in latest Monkey stable release. Mark modified the way compiler directives are evaluated recently, and Jungle Ide has followed the new rules in its background compiler.

BuildMonkeyDocs is now performed in the background so its not modal any more and it allows you to continue working while its being done.

Updating the Monkey Modules Database will also force a background updating of the modules documentation, so all official documentation is always updated.

Today my pc crashed suddenly and when it restarted, I had one file that only contained some garbled info. (notepad++ shows me NULNULNUL). Lucky for me I made a backup yesterday of all files. With an automated backup on every compile you always have a backup of the last version.

Not, it's not possible. I would love to add pre-build and post-build events to the compiler chain at some point, and it's on the todo list.
The idea is to be able to define a pre-compile Batch file that is sent to the command-line before compilation, and also a post-compile batch file that can be called after compilation. That would allow this kind of additions very easily, among other things such as image formatting, etc.

Next version will have current "word" highlighting as longly requested by some users. Jungle Ide will highlight all occurrences of current word in all open documents. This is something you'll be able to turn off on the preferences dialog. I'm just fine-tuning it now and I hope to release an update before christmas

Hello!

A new update is available. This new update brings the longly requested feature that allows Jungle Ide to highlight all occurrences of currrent word. In order for Jungle Ide to do it, just place the cursor inside the word you're willing to highlight all occurences and it should do it.

Also, notice that this required a new "color" filed in the Editor Color Scheme editor. This new color can be edited in the "Additional Colors" tab. Preexisting color schemes will get a default highlight current word color based on the theme itself (instead of using a default color that may not work on some color combinations).

"Zooming the html view is not possible. We're currently using the Chrominium Embeded Framework for C# that has only a partial support for the internal Chrominium API. We're going to change all this on the next Jungle Ide version. We'll be using another API that should help us providing a more complete and feature rich html browsing experience on Jungle Ide."

if that's happening to you so much, maybe consider using the keyboard shortcut! (it sounds like you're using it a lot!)
I don't use bookmarks that often, since I tag stuff with comments for a find list later, but when I do, I cycle with the keyboard shortcut because it's way faster. Food for thought, although the "Clear All" option probably should have a modal messagebox appear in any case, since I don't imagine people would want to use it that often..

Hi! I've noticed now since the last update that the Jungle Background compiler keeps complaining that it can't find DiddyApp. I'm using the Diddy Framework, Build folder has been deleted, everything is where it was as before the update. For some reason though it keeps complaining that it Cannot find DiddyApp.

I have diddy installed in the monkey_ext folder. No modifications to any config files while Jungle was running. I haven't tried restarting the PC so will do that now and report back.

With IE now implemented as the browser, when I drag a Monkey file over, with the browser tab active, and don't explicitly have my cursor over the small tab bar, the file tries to open in IE which brings a download box up. Can this be changed so that the browser is not activated when I drag the files in?

Is there an option I missed, to always auto expand the view? A right click popup menu for this tool window
would also be nice. With entries like "Expand all", "Collapse all", and maybe some check marks to enable/disable
which entries are shown (fields, methods, functions, constants, imports, public/private members, etc...).

Jungle Ide advanced lexer requires fonts to be constant in size on their variations (when they're bold, italic, regular, etc.) Not all fonts follow this rule so Jungle Ide is inspecting which ones are compatible and which ones are not. I'll be improving this in the future.

No it's not possible. Jungle Ide is designed to work with Solutions, and it is advised to use them to work with multiple files projects.

If you allow to add more folders in the preferences, we could easily switch between different versions of Monkey.
Use latest stable vXX for a project, and switch to latest experimental for new test codes, etc.

My project has a lot of files. There are various ways that Jungle allows for jumping between files, Tabs, the "Active Files" pull down etc. but by far and away the most convenient method for me is by using the Solutions Explorer as a tab selector. Double clicking on the relevant filename opens that files tab. I really like the way that its so easy to arrange the project files within folders, and visually, its pretty easy to select the files tab I am interested in. I would like to request a small change/addition though, that is, would it be possible that a single click on a filename would bring up the relevant file tab? Currently I have to double click, which brings up file rename for me a lot of the time and to a lower extent, its not as convenient. Possibly move file rename to the right click menu too?

BREAKING CHANGE:
The old C parser color schemes are no longer compatible with this version. If you are using the C parser in your projects, be sure to delete the file "text colors for C.xml" in your "Jungle Ide Framework/Settings" folder.


This update fixed an issue on the C parser. The fix is not compatible with prvious C parser color schemes for C documents. In order to this, delete the file "text colors for C.xml" in your "Jungle Ide Framework/Settings" folder.

Another request:

Our team uses Git to synchronize work. Sometimes we work on different parts of the engine simultaneously. When I do a pull from git I usually have to close the Jungle project and re-open it again. Because Jungle projects aren't made to be re-synced, we each have our own copy of the JIProject/JILayout/JIPO and .jungle files and they are in .gitignore so that we don't accidentally push them to the repo. This works fine, however the problem has to do with resyncing Jungle with open tabs of old data:

Normally, the behavior seems to be that when switching to a new tab, Jungle checks to see if the file's been modified outside the program. This behavior seems to be partially skipped (or perhaps not correctly implemented?) when compiling a project naively after doing a Pull. Twice already my project's entry point has been modified without prompting me when compiling, and has broken the compilation, forcing a partial revert from the repo. My request therefore is to please examine this behavior and check to see if there's a way to prevent this from happening.

My recommendation is to assemble a list of the open tabs that would normally go to the "autosave" behavior, check for editing outside of the program, and if they exist, stop compilation. Don't bring up the normal system MessageBox, but instead a modal dialog with multiple files on it (similar to VS) awaiting user action. Give options for "Reload all files from disk and compile" (actually only reloads files changed from disk outside of the IDE), from "Revert open files and attempt to compile" (appears to be the current behavior -- give a fair WARNING about the consequences of this!) and "Cancel" (stop compilation and allow manual opening of these files with the old system MessageBox prompts).

I should note that problems can occur even in places where Git wouldn't force a merge, such as when multiple people are working on completely separate parts of a project. It all seems to stem from the autosave behavior when compiling a project not seeming to "catch" all files changed from disk instead of the IDE when they're associated with the project. I've noticed this happening without Git when I updated one project with a newer module from a different one while the old project was still open -- even when opening a closed tab of one of the module's source files, under certain circumstances I kept getting the old source code and no prompt to update from disk. Had I compiled without reloading the entire solution I fear that the new modules would've been reverted....

@ziggy: That could do the job, but why not just do a check before doing a compile? Going through all project files every 5 seconds seems like it would create a lot of disk thrash.

Edit: Alternatively, a check could be done when the master window gains focus (low priority, separate thread) instead of every 5 seconds. The only time this would fail would be if someone automated a scheduled pull from the repo and thus didn't change window focus.. It could execute if the previous check sweep hadn't occurred after a certain length of time, again to prevent thrash...

That makes it easier to use Jungle Ide on a team, as when a file is modified (from Mercurial, Git, etc.) if Jungle Ide has this file open as part of a solution, it'll give you the option to reload the file with latest changes.

This version has also more flexibility regarding integration between Monkey and Jungle Ide, as it allows you to set your own compiler, and your won MakeDocs utility.

Hi! Just a quick note to say that the latest update along with the entire installation of JungleIDE was broken by Avast Internet Security. It didn't like the file "jungleideSE.dll".

I have submitted to avast as a false positive and that it is from a trusted source.

Just a heads up that if you run Avast with the latest updates it will nuke you install of JungleIDE during an IDE update because it dislikes jungleideSE.dll.

Thanks! Tested the new font selection system, and it works fine with Lucida Console at size 11 and all syntax colors set to bold style.
Just bought my JungleIDE license now - Thanks again for the changes! :)

Two more questions, though:
Is it possible to change the grey background color of all tool windows (output console, solution explorer, local shortcuts)
to full black? My editor window also uses full black background color and it would be very nice to set the background color
of all tool windows to black, too.

Would it be possible to remember the state (docked / un-docked) and window position+size for the internal help viewer?
I un-docked the help viewer and moved it to other screen. After IDE restart and pressing F1 on a keyword, the help browser
opens docked to the file tabs again.

As a workaround I'm using external html browser now for the help, but I would like to use the internal help browser
because external browser always opens a new tab.
While using the external browser, I noticed a small problem: Pressing F1 on the word "Print" can't open the
page in external browser because '#' gets replaced with '%23'.
For example:
Modules_monkey.lang.html%23Print

I think the anchor shouldn't get replaced. Using Modules_monkey.lang.html#Print works fine in
external browser. Tested with Google Chrome and Internet Explorer, both can't find the file with
anchor replaced by %23.

Another problem with multi-screens:
When I close JungleIDE while the window is maximized, it opens on wrong
screen the next time I start it. I think this happens because window x/y position
are -1, -1 in maximized mode. So next start it opens at the other screen with the
co-ordinates -2560,0.
I think saving un-maximized window co-ordinates and maximize state separately
in the config file would prevent this issue.

I don't understand exactly what you meant. I don't want hundreds of help viewers opened. :D

I have 1 un-docked help-viewer window opened. When I press F1 on a word, it does not open a new
help viewer but updates the content of the existing help window. It is good as is, just one help viewer.
So I thought you would just save help viewer state (and position if un-docked) on exit. Next time I start
the IDE and press F1 for the first time, the state and position/size get restored for the un-docked help viewer.
I also unchecked "Open the Monkey Help browser when Jungle IDE starts", because I don't like the
help inside the IDE.
Other developer tools use HTMLHELP (.chm) help files on Windows for help, and when pressing F1
it opens the .chm file. Pressing F1 again and the already opened help updates contents.
The HTMLHELP viewer remembers the size and position between sessions for each help file, so the
help for tool XYZ always opens at the same position. :)

Ziggy, can I repeat my request from a while ago that you look at the scrolling/paging behaviour in Jungle? Windows such as the find results, the local shortcuts and the debug window all exhibit the same horrible paging and scrolling behaviour where a single mouse scroll or page moves the scroll position further than the visible data. It makes it impossible to browse the information easily as you lose your place and skip over information.

This ones a nasty bug.

When I did a compile and run, Jungle just killed off the previous monkey game .exe and then proceeded(Displayed a console message to the affect of "Killing processes...") to kill off all my running background process, including my backup, NVidia card processes, ect. Jungle then froze and the O.S was left with a lot of my own processes missing, forcing a reboot by me.

I think there may have been a bugged compiled stalled program which was recursively adding to the heap when Jungle tried to kill it off. I'm writing a small script interpreter and it's buggy as hell just now. I don't think this is relevant but I'm just trying to recall what I was doing at the time.

NP since Jungle saved all my work before compiling. It's only happened once but I thought I'd mention it because of the severity of the crash.

One other small thing, I noticed also that the Debug menu is greyed out(even with Debug on) unless I do a "Build" then a "Run", when loading in a previously compiled debug enabled program. I usually only have to do this once per session though, as debug works fine after this point.

Ziggy - I've been having fun with the Files Modified prompt.

It works great if the main Jungle window is not minimized. But if the Files Modified window appears when the main window is minimized (such as when I'm committing code to source control) it becomes very difficult to return to the IDE. You can restore the main window, but you can't do anything because the Files Modified window is modal, but you can't restore the Files Modified window, so you're a bit stuck.

The only way I found to get out of this was to right-click on the taskbar icon, select Close All Windows, then re-click the Files Modified taskbar icon, and then it appears correctly.

Been caught out by this a few times now :-)

Just a heads up that in 077f the GLFW target has been replaced with Desktop Game and it took me a while to figure out that I needed to click Monkey/Refresh Available Targets in the Jungle IDE to be able to select Desktop Game and build my project.

Other people may find that useful esp. if they search the forums for GLFW and Desktop Game Target.

most probably the same issue as Raul - and as I was reading your last post I made some tests bevor posting here.

After the last update, if I open my long lasting project Jungle completly freezes. I tried to open a single monkey file out of the project (without opening the project itself) and it freezes. Last test - create a new empty monkey file and a freeze happens again. Hope you can find the error fast :-)

A new version has been just updaloaded. This version should fix the problem some users were experiencing when a solution was being loaded and the background compiler was running.

EDIT: This is the first time I see an application behaving logically different when it is executed using the .net JIT and when it is executing a native build. The problem was that Jungle Ide was waiting in a normal priority thread for completion of a low priority thread, and the low priority thread was suspended when Jungle Ide was native, and not suspended when it was jitted, so this issue only happened when Jungle Ide update was installed on disk, but not on my test setup on Visual Studio. That's weird! Anyway, found it, fix it, and a new version is available.

I wonder if the compilation differences may account also for some of the bugs I've experienced recently? On my project, the background compiler takes a very long time to complete, but beyond that, I've been experiencing crashes more and more often when trying to type a colon. I can't reproduce it reliably, so I can't offer much help with it, but it causes an exception which I can continue from but am unable to type that character again without another exception being thrown. I've used the crash reporter to send it several times. Hopefully it helps somewhere...

I just ran into the dreaded "Jungle tries to kill all running processes" problem when compiling a build. Here's what I was doing leading up to that point:

1. I had just re-enabled an async/multithread loader routine for my game.
2. While the main thread was waiting for the subthreads to return, the game crashed for an unrelated reason on the main thread (I accidentally left in some code that tried to access a resource that wasn't loaded yet)
3. The game DebugStopped.
4. I fixed the problem, and hit the play button again -- Dektop_Game, Debug config.
5. Jungle proceeded to try and kill processes on my system one by one. Before it killed itself, Jungle was reporting in its output buffer something along the lines of "Process 'winamp' shut down" or something to that effect.
6. The chaos stopped when I force killed my frozen MonkeyGame process from the task manager. Jungle's task disappeared.

My system is Windows XP-32

Yes, the plain text parser should do the job as long as it can handle the accidental opening of non text based files. For Makefiles it could do a simple check of the name.
There is one bug with the output console. It seams to have problems with output from the back-end MinGW compiler. It looks like it's not handling warning/error messages new-line/CR codes, which makes it hard to follow when there is a problem.

LOL, just can't win with this compiling thing........

Tried hitting play when the process was still running, it didn't wanna do it, it didn't look like it was doing anything, something about Main() not being found I guess. So I killed the MonkeyGame process myself and tried again. Hey presto, it worked. Except when I tried closing it, Jungle decided to compile it again for me. Then again, and again. Like as if it had backlogged all of my attempts to compile. ooooooooooooops

edit: was compiling from individual file, not a jungle project. Tried the compile first accidentally from a dependency file without Main(), got the bug, switched tabs and tried again. Process wouldn't die, then the above bugz happened

@Ziggy: I think Nobuyuki is building a project as Desktop, and while that is running changing targets, and building android, then FLASH. I think you can guess the rest.
Basically trying to run multiple instances and Jungle is losing track of what it's running. Note I haven't test this yet as at the moment using Linux. If I remember TED wont let you do this and to be honest, I have never tried to have more than one instance at a time running. As for the MinGW/console thing; I will see if its a MinGW/trans problem by using an older version.

Edit: Trying to run multiple instances should kill the previous instance, which it does on my machine. So Nobuyuki will have to explain what he is doing in sequence to get this problem.

Edit: Did some digging around and it looks like the problem with the MinGW output has something to do with using TDM-MinGW-w64. TED outputs warnings correctly while jungle misses the CR. Without forcing a warning, it's not possible to tell if the same is true for any 32 implementation of MinGW with Jungle.

I haven't been able to reliably reproduce the bug. It's happened to me only twice in all the time I've used Jungle. However, both of those times were recently. Our project is large (over 32k lines of code), and background recompilation can take 20 seconds or more on my machine. Maybe something else is happening on the system under the constrained resources that causes Jungle to freak out.

@Nobuyuki: Sound to me that something is still holding on to the process. I would be looking at Anti Virus solution being the culprit. Install Process Explorer, and the next time it happens, start Process Explorer and see if it can give you any clues as to what's happening.
Some AV software will not play well with Monkey or Jungle. Bitdefender is one such piece of s**t. Because of how Monkey executables work, it thinks it's malware and will send it to quarantine.

@ziggy: It was late last night when I was playing around with MonkeyPro69 and running some of the banana sample (Charlie and Richard's) and was half asleep and never got round to test it with TED. Turns out that it's some issue with Monkey69 and Desktop. I was scratching my head wondering why blobmonster and glfw_diffusion window wouldn't terminate. Pressing play again on Jungle terminates the process, but begins to rebuild it, so the only way to kill it was to go into task manager. I'm surprised that there isn't a method in Jungle to manual kill a Desktop build.

By the way, the version of trans I'm using is v78e. I am compiling using msbuild, if that helps. The program runs a multithreaded loader (although I don't know if this can cause problems with process hooks, because I don't know much about them and presumed that it's the OS's job to make sure misbehaving applications are terminated for violating their memory contract or whatever)

Data type: uint32
Access type: Read-only
Unique identifier of the process that creates a process. Process identifier numbers are reused, so they only identify a process for the lifetime of that process. It is possible that the process identified by ParentProcessId is terminated, so ParentProcessId may not refer to a running process. It is also possible that ParentProcessId incorrectly refers to a process that reuses a process identifier.

So using the ParentProcessID to build the process tree is not as safe as it would seem. I have a workaround, just testing it.

It happens on any multi tab/multi file project, select a command, hit F1, close the newly opened help tab. You are not returned to the tab that you pressed help on and the cursor remains hidden. You can still type but no cursor, unless you change the tab.

Just to let everybody know we'll be adding what I think is a nice feature that will help implement Overriding on classes. After the "Method" keyword is entered, a list of available overrides will be shown in the autolist.

Also, I'm working on a premade files and solution templates, so when creating a new solution, you'll be able to create a "blank" one, or create one based on your modules. Each module with a subfolder named "jungle templates" will be able to provide pre-maid solutions and files for newcomers.

Imagine something like: New Solution --> Select type: Blank solution, Mojo Game, Diddy Game, Playniax project, Command Line tool, etc....

Also, you'll be able to select templates for single files in the project explorer: New empty file, New JungleGui form, New Box2D shape, etc...

And the last thing, I'm adding a way to provide some sort of better integration of thirdparty tools. Any tool, will be able to register actions into Jungle Ide, and associate them to the solution explorer context menu (more can be added later) So you will be able to do things like: New FontMachine project, and associate it with a Fontmachine editor call, or New Tiled map, etc...

Now, I'm wondering my self some small questions, I would love to know what you think:

1.- Do you think we need to differentiate the data folder into a project with a sort of "multimedia-like" folder image? Will this be of any help to newcomers?
2.- Do you think it would be a good idea to provide pre-maid solutions for existing Bananas, so when anyone opens one sample, he/she can see all files involved, the media files in the data folder, etc?

All in all, as you can imagine, the idea behind this is to provide a standalone tool that is (at least) Jungle Ide + Monkey (open source version) that makes it a breeze to adopt Monkey as the preferred development tool on Windows (and we plan to add Mac Os and Linux later to the party). This tool will encourage the purchase of the Monkey Pro in order to publish for Android, Flash, XNA, etc. and the purchase will be integrated in the tool itself.
All in all, we're improving our business model in a way that can benefit both BLR and LemonBytes. We'll see how it all goes, but we're very excited!

No ETA for everything just yet, but I'm almost done, just some weeks left. All this will be also available in the free version of Jungle.

I think that's a good idea. I don't think it'll make a difference with newcomers, but I could be wrong.

Finally! I'd like to create a template for our internal games framework. I'm sure every other framework could benefit from it too. But particularly, most new projects always need the mojo boilerplate code, which is probably going to be the most useful way to do this (particularly if we can do a "new temporary monkey file" with a template).

1. Not necessarily but it couldn't hurt. The new project wizard should create a common entry point filename that is better than "newfile.monkey"; if not allowed to specify it, I recommend automatically giving the entry point the project name. Alternative names could be "main.monkey", or the project name with an underscore prefixed to it. With some sort of consistent method, it will be possible to automatically create the data folder at the time of project creation, which would be even more useful to newcomers, since they probably won't even know to create a data folder (and once they do, they don't need an icon to help them know what it is).
2. No. Don't do this unless you're selling a value-added package that includes both Jungle and Monkey together. If you are doing the latter, it may be better to just create your own bananas for some things (for example, if Jungle comes with a FontMachine license, then include something FontMachine related, and don't include AngelFont). Not all of the ones that come with Monkey are great examples of the modern syntax (many look like bmax ports). However, if you do sell a value-added package, definitely do this.
3. I have a collection of examples I made for myself when I was learning Monkey that could be cleaned up, however they're not that much better than some of the ones that exist. The ones that exist just need to be updated and better commented.
4. The usual suspects. There's a thread for this somewhere, although I'd say only include auto-installers for tools which you'd integrate into your own toolchain and that Jungle would already have built-in "tool templates" for in the context menu waiting to be activated. Maybe audacity, bfxr, pxtone, GIMP, Tiled, BMFont.

Do you think this be solved by just allowing a BAT file with some sort of parameter's support to be executed before trans is called? Would it be better to allow a monkey c++ tool to be called instead as if it was a script? I will think about it as it seems a nice idea, but not sure what's the best way usability wise. And I would like to support one way to do this, not two.

I have the solution templates thing almost done, and it works very well. I just need to fine-tune it a bit, but I think it'll be very useful.

Well, for me, I'd probably be "OK" with a batch file somewhere in the chain. The way Visual Studio does it (the cheap way) is that post-compilation they let you run some script on a per-project basis. Obviously, having scripted build action templates would be more powerful (ie: being able to call any executable any time in the build chain as part of a script, and then being able to select it from the dropdown menu for build action). I believe VS does that too, but I've never used it.

The latter of these two would probably require modularizing the build chain in a way that makes it scriptable; that is to say, all of the "default" build/run actions would be defined by scripts instead of simply internally. Having that on a per-project/solution basis would probably be the most powerful thing, but would probably require some sort of whole new "project/solution properties" dialog or something.

With that being said, however, it does open up the possibility to introduce certain automations into the mix that creates a value-added proposition for Jungle -- for example, having scripts for various OS's to introduce resource manifests to give projects icons that come with Jungle, and letting people specify these in that aforementioned properties dialog (including selecting icons) in an integrated way. That's just one example for what you could do potentially if the build chain was scriptable. So, it may not just benefit the users to have the flexibility!

New update available.

This new Jungle Ide version brings two important improvements. In the one hand, it includes automated installers for Android, Flash, C++, XNA and Windows 8 in a way that, once installed, the corresponding monkey configuration file is also modified accordingly. Also, when you update Monkey and set the selected compiler to a new folder in the preferences dialog, Jungle Ide will ensure the correct PATHS are also set up in the updated Monkey version.

All this is done due Jungle Ide being able to download and install the required SDKs and also, by the fact that now Jungle Ide has a special SDKS area in the preferences dialog where all sdk paths can be set in a way that those values are refactored in the corresponding config files when Monkey is updated.

This should help newcomers getting most of the SDKs configuration done, and should help the tedious need of copying config files after a Monkey update.

Additionally, this version includes a direct access to the Android SDK tools, once it's installed, in case you need to update the SDK tools, create an Android emulator, etc.

If that's not enough, this version additionally comes with what I think is a very useful templates system:

This version allows you to create new solutions based on some pre-made templates and, in addition to this, it allows you to create your own solution templates. Once you have a solution, with the media files, the folders, everything, you can save it as a template and use it later whenever you want to create a new solution. When a template is used, the template solution name, project, main file and data folder names will be properly modified to reflect the names actually chosen by the template user.

If that's not enough yet, if you're a module developer, you can associate a template to your module. When you do this, the template(s) will be stored in a folder INSIDE the module folder, so when you distribute the module, you'll be distributing the module associated templates with it. This will allow this scenario: IE. you install diddy, you could get premade templates for a typical diddy game. You update diddy, the templates update too, etc etc...

If that's not still enough, the templates system also contains single documents templates that can be directly used from the context button on the solution explorer, or when a new document is created. It works the same as solution templates, and those can also be associated to modules. I plan on adding some document templates for JungleGui. Typical document structures like "New Form", "New Dialog", etc. This kind of file templates make lots of sense on some modules, so you can now create them and use them and easily distribute them.

No need for this. If you create a module template (let's say a Diddy template), when you save it as a template, you have the option to save as "module template" and associate it to any of your installed modules.

By doing it this way, the template is stored in the module folder itself, so it can then syncronized with any version control system. The template is part of the module. It's typically installed in "[ModuleFolder]/Prefab Templates/Solutions/whatever...". Daing it this way, any user downloading the module gets instant access to the templates that module defines. Also, if the module author modifies the template, the modificiations will be (again) part of the module itself. So, it's designed in a way that there's no action required by non module users othar than: Get latest module update, magic! templates are also updated.

It'll definitely help when if I ever need to re-install my system. Resetting up all of the programs was a bit of a hassle before. So once again, good job and thank you for your continued updates.

Well I failed the noobie test and didn't get Android working out of the box. :) I don't know if I missed a prompt, or suggestion from Jungle, but it didn't end up installing the Android 3.2 and gave me the "android-13" error that has been reported before on the forums. It installed the latest and greatest 4.4.2. Everything did work fine once I added Android 3.2 packages.

I forgot a !debuglog" in the code it checks for backwards compatibility of internal Monkey db, but it means nothing more than the incompatibility with an older version has been properly detected and that Jungle Ide will rebuild it's internal database automatically (ss it should). All in all, only a cosmetic thing.

I just setup android and it was a breeze. It did leave the android package installer open and I wasn't sure if I needed to install from there as well. I did anyway even though I don't think I needed too.

Current Demo allows you to automatically download and install our own version of Monkey with the open source Mojo, and Jungle Ide will automatically configure itself if you do, so it's right to say that the demo (and plus version) does "include" the Monkey demo. Our plan is to make it easy for people from outside the BRL world to adopt Monkey (and Jungle). that's our main priority now, and that means focusing on usability improvements.

On this latest version, even if you don't install the required API level 13 api and the sdk tools, Jungle Ide will install them for you, using the Android command-line tool, so even if you do it wrong, Jungle Ide will assist you in getting it right.

nice work on this new update! I have yet to start digging into templates to check it out, though it seems pretty straightforward (I tried it on a temp file and it was easy-peasy).

With regards to Android SDK tools, please consider moving that to the Tools menu, because that's precisely what it is. Calculator's in the tools menu as well, and I'm sure in the future it wouldn't hurt to have some dedicated place for us to access (and perhaps bind shortcuts to) every tool in our toolchain. Think of it as expanding upon the earlier feature you mentioned with adding new files to the solution explorer. Just some easy way for devs to add access to their tools from the IDE to start screwing around with something. Generic shortcuts would probably be great, so we can add our own args and automate some more tasks from there.

It's not, it's just a wordpress site with a clean template. I did bought a premium template and modified it according to my needs, but all contents are plain simple wordpress pages.
The look and feel of some pages is based on the ElegantThemes framework for wordpress. I'm using the "divi" editor to provide better formatted responsive pages. Other than that, is plain wordpress.

Btw, fantomEngine has gotten support for FontMachine fonts now.

The idea is that templates should make it easier to get started with Monkey. that's why there are comments. But you can remove them, and save as User template so you can use it without comments whenever you want

Seems to be a bug when creating a solution within another solutions folder.

I accidentally chose a folder that already had a solution in it, when creating a command line C++ project using your new templates. It did not create the solution, it created another solution called "My Trans.jungle" instead and then renamed the solution that already existed to match the new name I had just typed in. It also tried to rename the .data directory. It also deleted the old build directory and 2 other directories(test.data & test2.data).

Well, I read through the documentation that is bundled with Jungle IDE and there was no sign that there is additional stuff?(maybe I'm blind?) (=up-to-date online help).
Your Website could maybe also link (more?) obviously to the Manual.

As a sidenote:

Could you please add a Shortcut-table where i can see all the shortcuts JungleIDE has? (maybe you already did?)

I'm also not sure what the set target for solutions does.
It would be nice if a double click of the entry-point file (solution and especially project within the solution) would override the current target picked as it is sometimes required to compile "A" as commandline and "B" as game. currently I have to change manually each time I select a different project within the solution. It would also be very useful if double-clicking triggered the 'make this project active' as it is hard for bigger projects with multible stand-alone applications to always right-click&context menu just because you edited a single line.

Standard on most mice these days. Normally it is used to go back in your web browser. You click it with your thumb. I have a Logitech Performance Mouse MX. It is actually labelled as the back button. I have a hard time using one without a scroll wheel and a back button anymore :) Very handy on the web but when you are navigating the docs it is very helpful. Should be extremely easy to do. I haven't got any bug report related to this. Can you send any additional details, or the bug report itself? It's not being sent. Also, anything related to where Jungle Ide is installed and to where the new solution is meant to be created can help too. Does it fail if you try to create a new solution on a new empty folder without any previous contents? Does it fail when using a specific template? In which pass of the new solution wizard does it crashes for you?

I found the bug. When you install jungle ide for the first time, if you do not create a new document before a solution to initialize templates one time, it crashes. If you first create a new monkey document, and close it and make a solution that works.

When the template is iniate one time, that works all the time after.

Could you provide a sample that replicates this? I can't reproduce it here... ? Remember you can block indent code (select block of text, and TAB or SHIFT TAB to fix anything).
It's been very well tested, so I'm surprised it is "completely wrong" but, anyway, if you could be so kind to provide a sample that replicates how it gets wrong, I'll be able to fix it!

Werton,. can I have anyhow a copy of this document? It should be properly indented. Do you have a replace tabs with spaces or something? I can't get any of my files produce this tabs bug. Does it happens too in any other file with any other source code text? Ctrl+T should correct properly tab spacing.

EDIT: Are you sure you have all blocks matched with their corresponding "end" in the document? I've managed to replicate it by malforming a document by removing a random End in the middle of it.

Found it! "Next i" and "Next j" are confusing the Jungle Ide parser. I was sure Monkey did not allow variable name following Next statement. Fixed it, I'm uploading a fix in some minutes. Meanwhile, feel free to replace "Next i" and "Next j" in your sample by single "Next" to prevent this bug from showing in your document (or wait for the update. I'm preparing it now).

Hi,
can't use Jungle since last patch.
When lauching the output console says: "Jungle Ide could not find a Monkey database on this system."
Trying to build the database or loading a solution:
MessageBox: "There was a problem while loading the Monkey language modules folders.
Caractères non conformes dans le chemin d'accès."
Last sentence means "invalid characters in path"
It worked just before the update.
After the IDE crashes if I try to modify a line.

Sorry, no urgent issue, I had a duplicate module path (regular characters) in Jungle "additional modules" and config.txt MODPATH.
It works well now, after removing this path in config file (Jungle crashed trying to remove the additionnal module path in the tools/preferences/monkey window). It worked before with the same configuration.
Anyway, back to work :)

bumping to say that the instally things are really convenient, however I was unable to get the android target to appear after installing the jdk, android-sdks and ant. Hmm, wonder why.

Also, Jungle should totally do an OpenAL install when installing the demo if the user opts-in for mingw.

@Noboyuki: The Jungle fork won't do it, as it is based on the open source Monkey that does not support Mojo Android. You should use full version to work with Android. That said, the autoinstaller should let Android target properly set up. Be sure to refresh available targets on the IDE if you've installed them manually. Also, if you've set the PATHs right in the IDE, open the Android Tools (in the SDK menu) and be sure to have the convenient Android API(s) installed.

why would you try Wine first on a .net 4.0 app? Sounds like a job for a hypervisor/VM based solution, something OSX has a few of, with good integration, too. They cost money, though (like everything else on a Mac)

Thanks, got it working now with official Monkey. I pointed MinGW to the Jungle fork though, because I'm too lazy to install MinGW proper. Does the desktop installer install MinGW proper, or a portable version? The latter would be pretty nice, but I'm not keen on experimenting with it anymore now that I've got all the targets I want working.

BUILD_PARAMS --> This will contain the parameters call to the trans compiler. If the pre-build command modifies this environment variables contents, I plan on letting Jungle Ide use the modified parameters instead.
PROJECT --> This will contain the path to the jiproj file
PROJECT_FOLDER --> This will contain the path to the project folder
PROJECT_NAME --> This will contain the name of the project
PROJECT_VERSION --> This will contain the version of the project

Anything else that can be handy?

Unfortunatly, I can't find neither remember how it was written in the config.winnt.txt before I set it back to default.
I tried to replicate the issue, but all seems to work fine.
It was something like:
MODPATH="${MONKEYDIR}/modules;${MONKEYDIR}/modules_ext;C:/Work/MonkeyModules" with /
or
MODPATH="${MONKEYDIR}/modules;${MONKEYDIR}/modules_ext;C:\Work\MonkeyModules" with \

By the way, in Jungle, if I add a second project in the Solution Explorer that is on C: and the main project is on a network drive F:, jungle always asks for the location of the jiproj file on C: when loading the main project.

I'm adding a system that will allow Jungle Ide users to define a set of tools to be called as part of the compilation toolchain in a per-project basis.
You'll be able to set a list of commands you want to be executed before trans makes its magic. That can be useful for preprocessors, media processors (specially audio converters given the variability of supported formats on different targets), texture packers, etc.

This is a screenshot of the new Project settings area where this additional pre build commands can be configured:

So you can use %ENTRY_POINT% as a parameter in the command call to get the monkeyfile that is sent to the compiler, etc.

Create a Monkey document (ctrl+shift+N) and it should appear. The Monkey SDK installer is part of the Monkey parser for Jungle IDE, and the Monkey parser does not load unless it's requested by a Monkey document, or until Jungle IDE finds a backup version of the parser database and loads it in the background while Jungle IDE is starting all the other IDE areas. So, for a first use, loading a Monkey document should fix it.

Post Build commands would be very great too.
What about a free user field like PROJECT_OPTION or _CONFIGURATION for different kind of version ( for example if you work on a web hosted prog: LOCAL, LAN_SERVER, DISTANT_SERVER ).
This field could be also replicated in the monkey code like #PROJECT_CONFIGURATION="LOCAL"
BUILD_TARGET seems to be interesting (without digging into BUILD_PARAMS) if some data like sounds need different prebuild handling.
Thinking of that leads to having different command list depending on target build, but it's far more complicated (ui). Some if in .bat file will be fine.

If you're a module developer, you may also be interested in the fact that next Jungle Ide version will allow you to define methods (or any other intellisense element) as hidden, so it's not shown to final module users. That's handy to hide experimental stuff or implementation detail routines that are dangerous to be used from outside the module internals. As a user I would expect to be able to turn this off. Module devs don't get a right to hide stuff in my IDE. Edit: NVM I just read the link and see that you're including an option. I hope this is global and permanent and not some per module setting.

@muddy_shoes: Yes, it's a global. Turning it off leaves everything as it is now.

EDIT: The idea behind this is that, as a module developer, it is nice to have some sort of encapsulation that goes beyond the module-only private that Monkey currently provides. Jungle Ide exposes everything, including experimental code and beta code. Having a way to hide some internal implementation details for regular module users can lead to some better usage of modules. I mean, better high level usage.
I also plan to add some sort of Deprecated mark that will show module items as such when used, so people can be warned if a given functionality they're using is being changed in favor of another.

lots of improvements. The main ones are the new "project options" section on all Jungle Ide projects. This section will allow you to define pre-build tasks as part of the project build process. Also, this version comes with what I think is a very nice source code anayzer that will warn you if you're doing some *possible* mistakes in code, and will help you keep your code tidy. This system will show any local variable that is not really used in the program logic as such. It'll also detect potential naming clashes with modules and classes, and with non properly cased overrides of methods. The list is quite long, and you can customize the kind of warnings you want to get on the preferences dialog.

Thanks for the update Ziggy - I came here original to post a possible bug and I saw the updated, installed it but the issue remains;

Always? That's weird, I haven't change that. Does it happens with All your projects? How's the "messed up" layout?

EDIT: Found it, It seem to be that layout calculation gets suspended and never resumed in that case. I'll fix this for the next release.

That is the crash I mentioned yeah, a sure fire way for me (Ziggy could not reproduce) to crash it is to create a temp document, then close the program. I did see it crash at shutdown however without creating temp documents.

Thanks Ziggy, the crash is gone now, but I noticed that double click is not working correctly on the template selection.

Only if the item is selected first is double click more consistent. Also sometimes even if the item is selected first, double click doesn't work, almost like I have to make sure the cursor is over the text itself, and not just the selected row.

It is not consistent, I have been playing around with it more to see if there is a pattern.

Hi ziggy, big thanks for such great update.
But I have a huge favor to ask you - please please, please add the option to disable the names of the elements (function, class, global, method) in the "Local Shortcuts", leaving only the icons. This is unnecessary clutter complicates the search for the desired object's name, because the object's name has not in the beginning of the line, but in the center, it's not handy. This is why i stopped using this panel. Please, take a look at the other ide everywhere elements are indicated by icons, nowhere do these explanatory inscriptions.

One weird thing I noticed is that the when I call a function now like DrawCircle. It initially displays the requires arguments:

Function DrawCircle
Function DrawCircle(x#,y#,r#)
Draws a circle of the given radius at coordinates x,y

But once I start typing that goes away and I see:

DrawCircle :Int DrawCircle As Int
Draws a circle of the given radius at coordinates x,y

It always used to show the arguments as I typed and highlighted the one I'm on which is great while your entering the parameters.

Do I need to do something after this latest patch to change it back?

@ziggy: too late! I removed the files manually in project files, and change the entry point to an existing file. May be you can try to create a project that you embed into a "real" one and delete 2 files, entry point and another one.

I have the same behavior than gasmonso. When the cursor is inside an instruction parenthesis, it displays something like DrawCircle :Int DrawCircle As Int instead of the parameters of that instruction.

In the new version, I noticed a lot more of the "back-snapping" issues that used to be present in previous versions, particularly when creating a class or class method. Sometimes happens with imports too, mainly after hitting the spacebar after typing the name instead of return, it pops back to the place before the class name right after the Class / Interface / Method token.

Some other strange issues are occurring, including Jungle attempting to autocomplete non-modules with the Import statement, including autocorrecting existing modules to the CamelCase name used by the classes contained in it if the module was already imported elsewhere in the project. (this makes writing a module annoying if you're making different import set files, but imported all of the module files already for an attached example)

@tiresius: It's the same as "current line" backcolor. When this option is used, it replaces current-line functionality with current-block functionality. You can enable/disable one way or the other in the preferences dialog, in the editor tab.

@Nobuyuki: I'm unable to replicate your second issue, but I've been doing several fixes, so hopefully it was related to what I've already addressed for the next iteration.

How do you open documents? I mean, what steps do reproduce the issue? I'm asking this because the error does not make many sense, and I want to be sure there's not anything else involved... I can't replicate it here with any of my projects, so I guess there's maybe something related to a specific configuration.

EDIT:I've just released a Quick Fix that should address your issue, but I'm still interested in knowing what's your configuration and how do you manage to make this happen, as I could not replicate it here, and it's failing to find a reference to the main documents container, which is kind of weird. Please send me your settings folder inside your jungle ide framework folder (or Monkey X Studio folder if that's what you're using)

JungleIDE remembers its position when closed. When the window is maximized, this does not work correctly
and JungleIDE is opened on wrong monitor next time. I'm using JungleIDE (maximized) on my main monitor,
and next start it opens on the monitor left to main monitor.

this is just to let everybody know I'll be releasing a beta during next week. this beta contains finally a new revamped Monkey X parser that is able to handle much more complex generics and inheritance chains without issues.

As this is a rather big change into a core part of the IDE, I plan on releasing a BETA version, so people can try it. and provide feedback, just in case anything needs fixing. I find it to be quite stable here, and I'm using the whole modules for regression testing, etc, but just in case...

Hi ziggy,

I have a big issue with the last version. I'm using Mungo instead of Monkey for my current project and Jungle crashed badly when it tried to update. Fast flashing popups with repeating sound. I killed the task and saw an error message like "Monkey compiler not found" (Mungo path was set before update), and after aknowledge it, flashing popups again I turned off my computer.

What does Jungle is looking for exactly ?

Do you actually read bug reports and fix those bugs, ziggy? (at least for customers that paid $$$ for JungleIDE, please! )

The startup-position problems described above are not fixed yet, after 2 month.
Jungle starts at seemingly random desktops and positions here.

Here is another one: JungleIDE does not highlight hex numbers correctly:



Another one: The cursor is often wrongly placed. Never ever seen such a behaviour in any Editor (and I'm using a lot of Editors and IDE's).
After pasting some stuff using CTRL+V, the cursor is almost always at the wrong (visual) place. Very annoying.
Thing is, it's only the visual cursor. When pressing [DEL] etc., the correct stuff is deleted and the cursor jumps to the correct position (later). Huh

When writing a 'Method' or 'Function' within an 'Extern' section, do not add an 'End' automatically to it, when pressing <Return>.
It's just declarations, not actual Methods/Functions with a body.

Generally, when pasting codes (CTRL+V), the inserted lines are not correctly aligned.
Everything is pasted at column 0 instead correct indention. One of the more annoying things, when using JungleIDE.

Even when the pasted stuff contains <TABS> and <SPACE>'s in front of the code,
every indentation is removed!! And the next line is also indented wrong!
When pasting some lines at the end of a class declaration (right before the 'End' line), the 'End' gets always indented at column 0!

JungleIDE does not highlight hex numbers correctly:
I need to change parser to support this, I will, I had only one request for this so it is considered a very low priority fix.

The cursor is often wrongly placed. Never ever seen such a behaviour in any Editor (and I'm using a lot of Editors and IDE's).
After pasting some stuff using CTRL+V, the cursor is almost always at the wrong (visual) place. Very annoying.
This is new to me, and I dont suffer this behavior. Please provide proper step-by-step way to replicate it, so I can try to locate and fix the issue.

Generally, when pasting codes (CTRL+V), the inserted lines are not correctly aligned.
Whe pasing code, code will be aligned according to the newly generated AST. If it is not, that usualy means your code is not following monkey specification (missing semicolons can cause this). If this is not the case, please provide a code sample that replicates the issue so I can fix it.

Even when the pasted stuff contains <TABS> and <SPACE>'s in front of the code,
every indentation is removed!! And the next line is also indented wrong!
When pasting some lines at the end of a class declaration (right before the 'End' line), the 'End' gets always indented at column 0!

After PASTE (using CTRL+V) the visual and real cursor often differ 5 or 6 positions. In the example above it is just 2 positions,
but it's really hard to type something when the visual cursor is different from the real cursor position.
Sometimes the cursor is jumping around after a second. When pressing the Cursor Keys (left or right), visual cursor is jumping to the correct position.

Block selection does not work here at all with SHIFT+ALT+CursorKeys or SHIFT+Mouse or ALT+Mouse.

I can't replicate the cursor issue. Do you have anything non standard installed that could affect keyboard messages or similar?
Then, the paste "issue". When you pate a block of code in Jungle Ide, it'll arrange indenting for you. In your sample code, you're at level zero of nesting, so everything is aligned at line zero. That's expected. If you want, you can disable this in settings: Monkey / Fix tab indenting when a paste operation is performed.

No. Just remembered Jungle's font problems and tested it. The cursor is correct with "Consolas" font.
I use "Lucida Console" at size 10.00 and everything (keyword/numbers/..) is set to [X] Bold in editor color settings.
I temporarily removed the Bold style for everything, and the issue is gone. Back to Bold, the visual cursor offset is wrong again.

Actually block selection is working now with Lucida Console, because I removed all Bold styles until the

@Danilo, the problem is this functionality can only work for fixed width fonts. Lucida console is almost fixed with, until you mix it with bold styles. Bold lucida console characters are wider than lucida console regular characters. You won't have this limitation if you use 100% fixed width family fonts such as Courier New or Consolas. Lucida is fixed with per weight, but it's not in its full family, so if you mix bold and not bold, it can't be fixed width and block selection can't be performed accordingly.

Fortunately this works with SlickEdit, Notepad++, PureBasic IDE, QT Creator, Visual Studio, etc. - I'm using the
same font and bold style with many different editors, and paste + block selection always works correctly with all editors.

I guess it's the font engine or more likely the editor component you use, because BLIde Plus has the same problems.
Just discovered that BLIde also has block selection, with some fonts. :)

This is just to let you know next Jungle Ide version will include some refactoring functionalities, such as Rename a class, rename an interface, rename parameters, locals, fields, and basically anything except methods and functions (I need to handle overloading and overriding this first, which si not trivial...)

Anyway, just wanted to share. All you need is rightclick over an identifier and select a "Rename MyIdentifier..." option in the popup menu.

I plan also to add a "find usages" functionality soon too.

I've just finished updating the background compiler to support latest language changes, so it'll provide syntax errors for v84b
Also, made some small updates to the GUI, so it renders a bit nicer, as it was getting old after 5 years. Just some very minor cosmetic things. But the big new feature will be the inclusion of a simple refactoring-based rename mechanism for most language elements. I'll be improving this further in next updates. I'm also introducing several performance improvements. These improvements will come as the result of parallelizing some tasks, so it'll be noticeable on computers with 4 logical cores or more (hiperthreading enabled dual core machines should benefit from this too).

This is the first version where I've been able to include a simple refactoring mechanism! It's quite simple, but very useful: It allows you to rename identifiers (variables, fields, class names, etc.) and Jungle Ide will take care of modifing any usage of that identifier in the whole solution automatically. Notice that methods and functions are not yet supported by this refactoring, but I'll be adding them soon too.
It may sound a silly thing, but this simple addition has been the result of several months of work. I hope the basis is strong enough to make this functionality grow quicker in next versions.

Then, the other "big" improvement that this version brings is something internal that will be noticed by users with old or not very powerful computers. I've been adding a new faster serialization mechanism for the whole modules database engine that allows Jungle Ide to use less resources and be much more responsive when it's starting everything in the background.I wanted to quantify the improvement, but in some scenarios, some tasks that took minutes (yes minutes) now take less than 300ms, so not sure how it counts on numbers, but some users will see a massive improvement. That said, the same scenario on modern computers with enough cores, this change is almost unnoticeable.

This is a detailed changelog:

* New Rename refactoring is available in the editor context menu. First refactoring added, I'll be increasing refactoring capabilities in next updates.

Say, while I was browsing some of the menu changes, it reminded me of something I used to wonder: Is it possible to change the app listing in the Tools menu to expand it beyond just opening up the calculator? Perhaps we could set up more of our own personal apps to integrate more of the toolchain here? For example: To display other commonly-used apps other than the calculator; set up shortcut keys to launch them, etc. Maybe even associate apps in the custom tool menu as default programs for files matching an expression pattern in the solution explorer (either on a global or per-solution basis). It would be pretty neat to just import sprites in one program, be able to pop open a texture packer and manually rebuild into the main data folder, or even just double click TMX files straight from Jungle.

That way you can support: Window / OSX / Linux :) and can mark delete the Ted IDE and make a deal with your IDE, so the Monkey product is 10x better.

Ziggy, I just got updated to the latest Jungle.

I recently removed an older external HD that was at drive D that I used for backup (it was too small). My OS is on C, and I have an internal that is at E with Monkey and everything else on it. Now when I launch Jungle, and when I try to open projects, I keep getting popups complaining that D isn't there, to insert a disk.

It's happening with junglembc2.exe, and with transcc_winnt.exe.

My Monkey path is on E, and the path to transcc_winnt.exe is relative to that. I can't find a setting anywhere regarding junglembc2.exe, whatever that is?

I compiled just fine the other day. Any ideas?

Now, answering your question, junglembc2 is the "Jungle Monkey Background Compiler" and it is a special version of the Monkey compiler that runs on the background and provides information about syntax errors to Jungle Ide, as you type code. This compiler needs to be installed in the same location as transcc_winnt.exe, so it looks Jungle Ide is trying to locate both at the wrong location, which seems to be caused by a misconfiguration of the monkey path in jungleide settings.

The compiler tools were never on D:, that is what is weird. The path in Jungle is set to E:\Monkey\MonkeyXPro82b\MonkeyXPro82b and the compiler is set to Bin\transcc_winnt.exe, and they always have been.

Experimenting more, it looks like the issue is that there were some references to D: in config_winnt in the path. They weren't ever used, but the absence of D: makes them pop an error window. Depending on the file, it crashes while writing two letters. I'm not sure what causes this, and I've made several of the automated reports when getting these errors. At this point, when I make a bug report with it, one in every four attempts makes it suspend itself eternally.

The exact condition has changed based on the file (For some reason). The first time, it was when I wrote "Super", every time I'd write S and U together, it would crash. Now it's doing it on another file with E and N. Needless to say, this gets annoying really quickly. The best guess I have is that it has something to do with the automatic completion, which I occasionally use to end blocks of code when I'm lazy.

I just played with the latest demo version. It's no VS or Eclipse but it can surely speed up development. There are just 2 tiny things I didn't like:

1. Is there no way to change the dark background of the application window (not the editor)? It's no big deal but I'm not a big fan of dark themes.
2. Intellisense just seems to work to a certain point.It shows me all the members of class. So far, so good. But if I have a list of a certain class type and that class type contains members which have members, only the first level is revealed.

feature request: Allow dashes in project names plz.....


Another feature request: Put a dropdown or context menu in the error list menu's statusbar to allow us to filter out errors in the list by type (Example: don't display warnings about x, or don't display warnings at all).

Oh, and please have Jungle ignore "unused" Throwables in a catch block. By nature of them being in a catch block they have the potential to be used if an exception occurs.

Hi Ziggy. I keep getting the following error when trying to open a project in JungleIDE...




Admittedly I am using Jungle on Parallels and the project is in a dropbox folder, but it used to work fine. Also the project works fine on 2 other PCs (non-parallels). I've tried reinstalling Jungle and deleting the Jungle Ide Framework folder but I just can't get the project to load. (Btw it always asks to locate the project file just before that error pops up.) Any ideas?

I'll take a look ASAP, but now I'm spending some holidays in Japan, so I won't be able to fix it for about a week. I use Jungle in Parallels too. Locate the project using your routed "Z:" drive, instead of the network path. Z:\ is rooted at your "home" folder in your Mac.
You can also map a logical network drive to your \\psf\dropbox location and maybe it'll help too.

The real problem to port Jungle to another OS is that it is not only .Net. It uses quite a bit of native code in the lower level GUI stuff, which is not easy to port and has no direct translation to other OSes. If Jungle ever sees a cross platform port, it'll be as the result of a complete change of GUI framework, but this would be a gigantinc task right now.

Instead, using your tremendous knowledge of programming IDE's, why not just begin developing a Mac only IDE? It doesn't have to have the same awesome feature set as JungleIDE from the beginning.

If you began working on an IDE for Mac design and code it to be a separate product for Mac, only. You have the IDE coding experience but also, and this is the most important part of your personality, you get things done. "Can't be bothered" is a mindset that has no power in your mind. Thats why you get things done and done right.

I did it, and it was nice, but it's a gigantic project. I managed to make a sort-of-decent docking framwork and a decent port of the current Jungle Ide settings system. With this, the parser etc should be quite straight forward to port, but all in all it's a gigantic task.

BLIde took 7 years to stabilize and it was sort-of the foundation for Jungle Ide, which also took like 1 year to have a decent feature set. Add to this that I would need to create a good text editor component that gives as much features as the current Jungle Ide one. The editor itself is a project of its own!

Just to let everybody know I'll be releasing a new version with much improved generics support by the end of this week. This also makes the rename identifier refactoring much better.

@Samah: I've used it in a couple of project (the netBeans platform) and it's very nice in general, except that I can't get any Swing application to look nice. I think I should learn how to make my own theme for Swing, but haven't got the time to investigate how to do it.

Eclipse uses SWT, not Swing. SWT wraps native widgets rather than using its own rendering method, so it will always look and behave like a native application for that OS. A yes, but I was using the netBeans platform that was a lot friendlier to me. Anyway, all this is on hold right now

Hi,

I'm using the latest Jungle IDE. I noticed that since I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 (32-bit), I'm not able to finish compilation of GLFW3 apps. I tried re-installing MinGW using the SDK installer, but it gave me the same issues. This happened on 3 projects I tried to test, both worked under Windows 7.. Here is my console output:



This is on the second build. I omitted the output from the first build for brevity because it terminates the same way. Strangely, when attempting to run the executable outside of the IDE, it gives me several missing DLL errors. Is there a problem with the build line, or do I have Jungle improperly configured? (I'm using a fresh install of v86a, and letting Jungle handle the MinGW install path and config stuff)

Edit: the reason I'm asking here instead of in a transcc bug thread is because this appears to be a linker issue. The missing DLLs are in the minGW/bin folder, but aren't being statically linked into the exe....

Edit 2: The linker issue persists with MSBuild. CL's output is not helpful. Subsequent rebuilds indicate "minimal rebuild failure" and have problems opening the PDB (usual problem for msbuild when build folders are "dirty"). Here is the initial msbuild output:



I'll try Ted sometime later to see whether this issue is specific to Jungle.


Edit 3: I noticed this problem when building directly from VS. I'm starting to believe now that it's not a Jungle issue, but an issue with the hacked graphics drivers I'm using.

I was at one point using hacked drivers because my laptop's integrated graphics is not officially supported in Windows 10. It would seem that GLFW doesn't like the default Windows 10 drivers very well. :(

Due to the fact that some really nasty stuff has to be done in order to keep the hacked drivers installed, I rolled back to the defaults, and unfortunately it seems like this means I'll have this issue unless a workaround can be found...


Final edit: Wow, what a crazy series of events. I installed a much older driver and managed to get everything working again. Windows 10, argh! Sorry for posting in this thread specifically about this issue, by the way the output console was gonig, it really did seem like the linker issues were something related to how Jungle worked with my new install until I was able to test outside of it and get a more descriptive error.

It seems the build process I used for the latest update setup included a Monkey X Studio build of Jungle IDE in the Jungle Ide Pro update. Please, download the update again from the jungleide.com website here: http://www.jungleide.com/?page_id=175 (Be sure to be logged in).

Alternatively, you can go to [documents]\Jungle Ide Framework\Stored Updates and execute any previous version to force a rollback, so the update process completes successfully as it should.

Monkey X Studio includes Jungle Ide Pro, the Ignition module by Playniax and a license of Monkey X Pro, it's a bundle of all 3 products with pro license of 3 products at the same time. The included Jungle Ide of this bundle is different in the way it handles licenses for the 3 products, and it can deliver automatic updates for all of them.

Yeah, I guess that's what I am not understanding. You said the update was out for Pro, and I don't have Monkey X Studio, I don't think. :) At any rate, checking for updates shows me that I am on 15.07.07-A. Why does my install think I have Studio?

A separate question: I have set up my framework with a template, because there's a skeleton of code that it's nice to always have ready when I start something new. Some of that skeleton references some dummy assets for GUI and loading screens. All of this is in a folder tree in raphtemplate.data.

When I create a project (call it newproject) from this template, the assets are in fact copied to the new project. But they go into a folder called newproject.data.

And then I get a warning that files were skipped during the loading process:

@Raph: When version 16.02.06-A was released, for some ours the server was providing a wrong version of Monkey Pro that included a Studio build. I fixed it ASAP but some users (like Xaron and it seems you) did get the wrong update.
In order to fix this, please go to the folder [Documents]\Jungle Ide\Stored Updates\ and roll back to any version prior to 16.02.06-A (by clicking on the update executable). Once you do this, Jungle Ide will tell you to properly update to latest Pro version, as it will ask the updates server again.

Just had a crash opening a project from the last version of Jungle IDE. I sent in the bug report, but on the bug report success message it read, "Bug rerpot was..." It should be "Bug report was..."

Edit: Every jungle project file causes the crash. Mmmm.... I'll have to wait this one off.
Edit: Okay, projects with capital letters in the name cause the crash. Hmmm...

@Goodlookinguy: I also wasn't able to open my solution files (you mentioned project files?) in the new version (I have Jungle with Monkey Studio installed), but it didn't really crash, just had an error message and the bug report requester.
So I switched back to the previous Version of Studio... :-(

@ziggy For me it crashes every time I open ANY project from inside Jungle, but if I open one by double clicking the project file in file explorer then it loads it up fine. I'm on studio, it's been doing that ever since the last update that switched to 85e. I've kinda gotten used to working around it so it's not the worst thing ever, but since all my projects' names are upper camel it could very well be what @Goodlookingguy is seeing.

Edit: I probably meant solutions. I never have more than one project per solution and I always get them confused, I never understood why that distinction was useful personally but its the industry standard so...

Oh, I missed this. What do you need? All of it or just some of it?

I also wanted to say that closing the browser tab and then opening one of these project solutions seems to be the primary cause of the bug. Leaving the browser tab open seems to cause less issues. I have a tendency to automatically close it when I start Jungle (same thing I do in VS), so I didn't even notice I was doing it.

Solution = The Product
Projects = The parts of the product
Code Files = The parts of the projects

This distinction is extremely useful in VS, not so much in Monkey. As an example from something I actually did only a few months ago...

Solution: Client-Server Game
Projects: Client, Server - User Management, Server - Game Management, Server - Network Management

I had separate server parts communicating with one another, but each one was its own project. When put together though, was the product.

I tried the new Version again and I have the same issue as Sicilica mentioned. Opening Solutions only works with double-click in file explorer.

I sent a couple automatic bug reports because Jungle's been crashing on me with the latest 86e. Turns out that that transcc_winnt.exe is now a 64-bit exe, and won't run on 32-bit OS's. Jungle doesn't catch this exception when trying to run the process and chokes in several places, such as when refreshing targets.
