I suspect that Microsoft are doing a dirty and going to pull one over on the Linux universe.

I think this is all part of their MS is everywhere campaign blurring the lines of product reach (maybe cloud support as well). But ya, I can't see many Linux users feeling happy about this and the "partnership" (cough) between Ubuntu and MS as it's been put.

As I have said. MS are pulling a fast one. They didn't get to be a big company by playing nice. Watch of changes to the license of Ubuntu and some of the software.

Microsoft buying Xamarin (and making it mostly free) is also quite interesting.

I get the feeling MS understands Windows growth is a thing of the past and the only way forward is to start invading the other successful platforms.

I'll be happy when I can stop using recompiled gnu tools just to get a decent colored directory listing command. No freaking way I'm installing cygwin.
