I just received an email regarding the European Cyber Security Competition - Switzerland, Monday 19th - Friday 23rd October 2015.

According to the email, there are two categories, Under 20's and 20 - 30 years of age.

I believe competitions of this nature should be open to everyone regardless of their age, Is this blatant age discrimination?

What are your thoughts?

<Shrug> They also exclude anyone whose business or field of study should ensure they knew something about the subject, so i wouldn't take it too seriously as a competition.

The sponsors list shows they are making money while promoting this type of behavior. You definitely have room to complain. In the US I could lodge a complaint with the attorney generals office, I don't know if the UK has something similar.

Of course this is complete ineptness and almost certainly not purposeful discrimination, but discrimination is discrimination.
