Man this games looking (and sounding) good, I kind of ignored it when it was announced and was going through the alphas but then they announced the pre-order details I started to look at the some videos. I am not prepared to drop £50 on the beta but £35 pre-order sounds like good value, I am even considering getting a HOTAS to get the full experience.

Anyone currently playing this?

I've been playing it since the Premium Beta stage in May. Chose to get Start Citizen rather than Elite in Kickstarter but not much was happening around Star Citizen at the time and the lure of youtube videos was too much! I was around for Elite in the 80s but didn't play it and had Wing Commander on the PC in the 90s.

Anyway I've never been generally a player of these sort of games for an extended length but I've really enjoyed the experience and have played it pretty regularly since. The gfx and especially the sound is so immersive and whilst I engaged in some fighting initially to help learn the flight system better (it does take a good 10+ hours to get the feel of combat), I tend to trade more so and stay away from the conflict (which is quite fun if you can survive!). Just using an Xbox controller myself.

There are quite a few blitzers playing Elite (Wiebo, Muttley and therevills amongst others - see here http://www.blitzbasic.com/Community/posts.php?topic=102626 ).

There is a pretty robust forum, plently of tools to help with trading and plenty of impressive stuff on YouTube:

This guy is amazing as he flies around with flight assist off and does some quite impressive things.

Scott Manley appears to be a bit of a flight expert across many games and has some great explanation videos.
