Introducing Google Play Signature Edition

Here at Google, we know that what gets app developers out of bed in the morning is shipping great software to delighted customers. But we couldn't help thinking: digital delivery of apps is convenient, but surely we could come up with a better way? Something inspired by the farm-to-table movement, a way that uses free-range bits and bytes whilst also reflecting centuries of human history and artisan craftsmanship.

It wasn’t easy, but we think we’ve solved it. We are proud today to introduce:
Google Play Signature Edition

With Signature Edition, you can bring back the physical connection to your users. App delivery is completed via USB drives shipped in carefully crafted boxes, each proudly bearing your signature. This not only gives your users the very latest version of your app, but also adds a personal touch that is so often missing in our modern digital age.

You can opt to supply the boxes and drives yourself, to your own exacting specification and tailored appropriately to your app. Or you can order a range of choices hand-made from the finest materials at Google’s workshops in Portland, Oregon; Brooklyn, New York; and Shoreditch, London. You can then complete the process by loading your APK, signing the drive, and shipping to the user. The entire process can be completed in less than three weeks*, offering a level of convenience that has never before been seen in the field of artisan digital delivery.

We’ve already had many success stories from our pilot partner developers. Users can’t wait to receive their Signature Edition apps, and sharing of Signature Edition unboxing videos are one of Youtube’s fastest-growing categories. In turn, that increased satisfaction leads to a measurable boost to your Play store ratings and word-of-mouth recommendations. Signature Edition is good for everyone.

The modern world can sometimes seem cold and impersonal, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Are you ready to make a difference? Are you ready to truly connect with your users?
