http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2012/08/what-apple-v-samsung-means/?utm_source=Contextly&utm_medium=RelatedLinks&utm_campaign=Interesting I always thought Apple was copying many other companies with their designs (see Braun) and now they have shown in court they are able to copy others (like Sony) and win. I would see this as the beginning of a new monopoly. When is Google's Android next? |

Hmm... I'm not an Apple fanboy using Android by my one, but what Samsung did was plain copying at its worst. Apple is right in this case. Just do a bit research about the extremely aggressive position of Samsung. I'm more afraid of a Samsung monopoly than an Apple one. |

As an Apple fan, I find this news rather positive. :-) |

From what I've read, most of the lawsuit had to do with the shape of the phone. That shape came out long ago before the iPhone, and I thought Samsung did an ok job showing that. Patents need to be "new" and several objects predates Apple. I don't see how their shape is exclusive. To me, this just creates a monopoly, for which I am strongly against. I'm sorry, but this lawsuit seems too similar to Lodsys's where they patent a button that goes to a web store. Here's Apple's patent for which they won. Note the rectangle for which they won with. http://www.google.com/patents?id=6BsWAAAAEBAJ&pg=PA2&source=gbs_selected_pages&cad=4#v=onepage&q&f=false |

Sorry, that above patent was not right, I think it was just the iPhone3GS shape that won. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390444358404577609810658082898.html#project%3DAPPLESAMSUNGVERDICT%26articleTabs%3Dinteractive |

Maybe not so bad... http://www.neowin.net/news/best-billion-dollar-ad-campaign-samsung-ever-had Seriously though, the worm so to speak is turning against Apple slowly but ever so surely. Actually I think the one item they didn't win in this case was the one relating to the shape - its a rectangle with rounded corners... |
