Meant to teach kids hacking?

Well, as a Monkey target, this would be great. They have a C compiler and it is ARM based...

I guess that this will be something for my Xmas :-)

wowowowowowowow

That looks awesome and is perfect for the Proton Magnetometer my dad and I have built. We have been using an old laptop to connect with the Magnetometer to render a graph and gps chart... but this will offer much greater flexibility; lower power requirements, size and won't have half of the unwanted rubbish that comes with a laptop!

This is definitely going on my xmas list, thank you for sharing :D

It will sure reduce some of my Arduino work. Or rather, let's put the two together for improved fun!

Yea, I'm really excited. We were really concerned about using a laptop because we plan on taking the magnetometer out on our boat to go wreck hunting. Power consumption was our main worry but looks like this thing will run on 4x AA batteries!

Hopefully I can get the RS232 usb serial working with it otherwise might have to reprogram the assembly part of the magnetometer I/O but all good fun!

this thing looks fantastic! I will order one when the 1st batch goes on sale. and has it can run the Linux. it might be possible to run GLFW monkey code on the device which could leed to some interesting projects.

I am quite interested in the Risc OS port for it after spending a few months playing wit a Archimedes has a child. and still have a big soft spot for the BBC Micro and BBC BASIC.

Some interesting factoids about who's behind the thing:

well... what sold it for me was the fact that it can run Quake 3 Arena quite nicely :o) definately a target Monkey 'should' cater for!

Now that the PI is for sale; any idea on the Monkey target => what would be involved?

Seems an actual Linux target of Monkey should be made for this which is nice as that should be there anyway as it is not handy to leave that market, while it's a very good niche market (having fans in the linux world will enable you to peddle all your games to them; they are loyal).

GLFW is the closest thing you have for a Linux target. It requires some modifications but I am certain it would work. I had issues with STB_IMAGE but I found other projects that used STB_IMAGE with Linux.

I don't have time to spend on it as I just released two games and about to release a new one in few weeks.

But I will give it a shot next week.
