there are a lot of vague descriptions in the docs, well to me at least. I would like to learn as much as possible, net coding, file stuff and all the other crazy gfx commands there is but seems a little difficult to grasp. is there anything book recommended or more examples out there. ive seen jims tuts and some snippets also looking for more background stuff to make games run smooth like memory management and such. thanks

You could buy a few beginners general programming books. Monkey is a language based on other languages, (C/C++/java)

Some go as cheap as a few dollars on play store.

Indeed, regardless of the language itself, game coding is a bit of a black art that you will have to learn largely by doing, and from snippets here and there.
