Ha I saw this on BFG and wondered who made it! I should have looked closer. Hope it did well for you (well I see that by the charts it did). Happy Christmas.

Looks fun

Chroma(Posted 2010) [#4]
Awesome man!

Happy Christmas? Isn't it Merry Christmas? Or is that a British thing?

CGV(Posted 2010) [#5]
Congrats on the new release!

I saw this on my affiliate site and thought to myself "that looks like a therevills game" but since you hadn't posted anything about here I figured someone either copied your style or was using the same artist as you.

Grey Alien(Posted 2010) [#6]
Hey therevills, if you ever want to team up on a casual game in some way, let me know.

Blitzplotter(Posted 2010) [#7]
@therevills, looks pretty swish, or should I say swash... buckling! Seriously, looks visually very impressive, I'll certainly let the kids try out the demo tomorrow.

Grey Alien(Posted 2010) [#8]
I gave it a good play, nicely done. Looks like a framework game. I'm glad you are making good use of it, not many people made full games with it.

How is it doing compared to Gunslinger Solitaire?

coffeedotbean(Posted 2010) [#9]
fun game.. good to see a sokoban mini game.. I am still trying to create the ultimate sokoban game that casuals will accept - just need to wait for monkey/mojo to unleash it to the world!.. wuhahaha.

therevills(Posted 2010) [#10]
Thanks guys.

It gave us a nice xmas bonus :D

@CGV so we've got a style now? Cool :P

@Blitzplotter... you know where the door is (lol)... Ill pass your comments to the artist (my wife) :)

@Grey Alien - Compared to Gunslinger, its done 6.5x better in the first week than Gunslinger did in one month!!
Would love to team up, but due to working full time I couldnt commit to anything really. I only get time to code at home for a few hours a week.
And yes - Its another Framework games. We've done 4 full GAF games now :)

@Coffeedotbean - Funny you should post about the sokoban mini-game, your Santa's Workshop was the inspiration for the mini-game :P

Wow that's great news on the sales!! Awesome work. 4 full framework games is as many as I have made!

One of the things I'm doing in 2011 (after my 3 month non-compete expires) is teaming up with people as a design consultant in exchange for a small % of backend royalties. The idea is I take a look at your design at the start and throughout the project and help craft it into something that will do better on the Portals (or other platforms, it doesn't have to be a causal game). Let me know if you are interested for your next game!

Nice looking game... congrats!

Blitzplotter(Posted 2010) [#13]
I'll maybe have to dust off my copy of Grey's framework & BMax, I confess I've been immersed in B3D mainly.

@Therevills, you've got some team there!

Did you ask them if you could do localised versions or did they approach you? I'm writing my current game with localisation in mind but not sure if I'll ever need it.

xlsior(Posted 2011) [#16]
For what it's worth, the sales blurbs about the Dutch version at least sound like they have been done by a native speaker, unlike some of the translations I've seen. :-?

therevills(Posted 2011) [#17]
With Gunslinger they asked us to do it for 4 languages (French, Spanish, German and Japanese, although we only did 3). And since all my text was hard coded it was such a pain to do!

So after that I now create our games so we can easily change the in-game text very quickly. Each translation above took about 2/3 hours - for us to swap the text and graphics, test, alignment issues etc.

After Pirates was released and how well it did, I asked BFG if they still did translations and if so did they want to do Pirates... they did :)

Thats good to know Xlsior, thanks!

CGV(Posted 2011) [#18]
What translation service did you use?

I don't imagine therevills speak that many languages between them. :)

Dabhand(Posted 2011) [#19]
Pffft, localization, there's no Cherokee... meh!!!

;)

Only kidding Mr T... If it squeezes some more sales then jobs a good'un... I'm a typical Brit... Everyone knows English, so theres no point me speaking out else and making a git of myself trying to talk in another language when generally, foreigners can speak English better then me! :D

Sorry to say, but the portuguese translation (as always) is rubbish... "Goal atingido" should be "Meta atingida" - and I got this just looking at one of the screenshots...!

On the same screen, "Combo fácil" should be "Combinação fácil" - neither 'goal' or 'combo' are portuguese words.
