In this case, your graphic card or chipset does not support low-res (320x240) or 16-bit colours ...

Newer cards only support 32-bit colours and high-res!
Older version of Windows 9x used 2D accelerator cards for lower-resolution.

Why not include a Windowed option so that the majority of Windows users can play too?

It should be possible to change the code to switch to Windowed mode with a key! It just a matter of re-compilation , should not take more than a few minutes (Windows is a little slow to load).

It could work this night!

Done ... Now, the game start into windowed mode and to change the game to FULL SCREEN mode the user need to press F1.
