Probably you have already seen these screenshots of CopperHead - the game being developed by one guy by using Xors3d Engine http://blitzbasic.com/gallery/view_pic.php?id=2050&gallery=hr&page=1
But they are static. Wanna see CopperHead in movement?
Here is the first video made by EvilChaotic - the author and the only developer of CopperHead http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNb7LqjCl28
And here is another video made by us http://vimeo.com/7628851
What a pity, Fraps takes too much resources and result FPS is not so high as a real one - maybe it's time to upgrade our machines XD

Looks good, although is quite blurry.

MadJack(Posted 2009) [#3]
Funny how Blitz3d + Xors is essentially Blitz3d DX9 edition, yet the punters here overall seem to ignore it.
Not sure why. Perhaps it's concerns about stability or that a lot of people have moved on to BlitzMax (but then Xors is available for that platform as well).
I guess the long history of proposed but never delivered/overly buggy 3rd party user created engines hasn't helped.

Perhaps if the Xors team approached Blitz Research directly and made a link up, people might take more notice.

Whats a punter?

I dont think its an issue of not noticing xors, but rather its very new
still, and many people are interested in proven engines.

Im sure its a tough period most engines go through, but with alot of veteran engines going the free route im not suprised if xors is getting
the cold shoulder for the time being. If they stick it out, and keep supporting/improving it im pretty sure more blitzers will give them a shot.

BTW, what language is copperhead being coded in? b3d,bmax,c++ ??

MadJack(Posted 2009) [#5]
RR

Goof point about Xors newness versus the availability of older, established engines. Let's hope Xors3d continues to be supported. Games with quality graphics like CopperHead help the cause.

(Also, a 'punter' ; 'a British, Australian and Hiberno (Irish) English colloquial term for a paying guest or customer'.)

Looks good, but what happen with the engine?, any update?

Amon(Posted 2009) [#7]
yeah that's what I'm waiting for, and bug fixes. I own a full license but don't know how to update.

Demo looks very good though.

There's been lots of updates to the Xors engine.

I own a full license but don't know how to update.

If you're talking about Xors3d, download the latest revision from here;
http://hot.xors3d.com/

replace the dlls in your /blitz3d/bin dir, decls file in the userlib and replace xors.bb in your codebase with the copy in the rar file.

At the start of your programme, add a command;
xKey("your licence code here")
with 'your licence code here' being the code you should have recieved on purchase.

Hi guys.

RifRaf
CopperHead is being written in Blitz3d

angel martinez
We try to produce updates quite regularly. Of course some bugs require more time to be fixed.

Amon
MadJack answered absolutely right. Look at the bottom of this message - there is a 'hotbar' - our userbar which shows the number of the latest revision and the date of its upload to http://hot.xors3d.com

MadJack
Thanks for your benevolent attitude towards Xors3d ;)

Snixx(Posted 2009) [#10]
I think its great, reminds me of the Hunter Killers in Terminator

Chroma(Posted 2009) [#11]
I really like Xors3D. I tried the demo and had my flight converted over in about 30-45 minutes. It was 'basically' working but would have required a bit more tweaking.

When I'm finished with my 2d casual game, and I'm ready to proceed with the flight sim project...I'll definitely be utilizing Xors3D in unison with BlitzMax. That one's a no brainer.

What happen with the world editor (for Xors3D) commented a few months ago in the forums?

Not sure why.

It's because it doesn't have the word "Blitz" in the name. I'm being serious.

Brucey(Posted 2009) [#14]
I'm being serious.

Sad, but true.

It's being redesigned. I hope we'll finish it in Q1 2010.

MadJack(Posted 2009) [#16]
Wow - can't believe it's almost 2010. How did that happen?

Regards the editor - sounds interesting and will be a good drawcard for the engine.

Here is a new gameplay video of Copperhead.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYdGloqI1Wc - arghhh, it is a little bit uglified by YouTube.

It is a result of the development by one person during one year. And he also spent some time creating his Armored Fury!
Evilchaotic - the author of these games - states that he is going to release a demo in the middle of August. The purpose of publishing of this video is to collect your comments and tips.

GfK(Posted 2010) [#18]
Thoughts after seeing that (and the old) video.

1. The music is pants - doesn't fit at all. Is it actually in the game, or just the video?
2. You say the video is "uglified by youtube" but you/whoever do seem to be using a hideously over-the-top motion blur effect, and I can't tell what's going on. Personally I'd ditch that effect completely but at least tone it down a bit.

Can't really comment further as I couldn't make head nor tail of what was happening.

Xors Team(Posted 2010) [#19]
Totally agree. Motion blur is extremely overdone.
The music is not in the game, probably.

Blitzplotter(Posted 2010) [#20]
The music is not that bad, sure not to everyones taste.

As for the video, I thought it looked very well done, although I'm not a huge fan of those flying type games.
