... so the third public beta is ready. please test the performance!

download bftest_3.zip (~7MB)

so what is it all about? itīs a paintball field in upper austria (www.basefield.at) see pics to compare ...

i know its not much action right now, but this is only the beginning of a free multiplayer game...

exacam:
left mb = rotate around pivot , right mb= move pivot , l+r mb = zoom
dblklick outside piv = autoturn , left or right klick inside pivot = pivheight
mouse-wheel turn = fov , mouse-wheel push = reset fov

.. that's it for now. fps-mode is in progress.

about snowblind-mode: itīs only a switch between hwmultitex true/false...
anyone knows why i got doublecount of poly with hwmultitex false???

AND THX FOR TESTING !!!!

..nice..but im not sure what is this demonstration about..

Foppy(Posted 2008) [#3]
Runs smooth here... (1.7Ghz 1GB, Radeon 9600 256MB)

I think it's a paintball game. :)

Naughty Alien(Posted 2008) [#4]
>>I think it's a paintball game. :) <<

Its not FPS too, or 3rd perspective..and so on..is it editor since there is kind a motion sliding in out, and watching things from 'edit perspective'.. so i guess it may be paintball game..

jsp(Posted 2008) [#5]
Well done! Runs also smoth here (1.7GHz,Mobile Intel 915GM Express, 128MB). Sometimes the SnowBlind shows the real texture.

MGE(Posted 2008) [#6]
American Gladiators Indoors? :)

Runs good here, Intel 82845G

Torrente(Posted 2008) [#7]
Looks fabulous, and runs very smoothly on an 8600GTS. I'm itching to play.

Is this made in Blitz?

josk(Posted 2008) [#8]
Runs smooth here too. Should do, GTX280.

Any estimate for a demo game?

chi(Posted 2008) [#9]
@ torrente: yup was made with blitz3d... and a little purebasic (dll)

@ josk: first things first ;) need to finish the flythrough and then iīll continue with the multiplayer...
but the framework for this is already finished and working!

@ all: got problems with vista? does anyone gets an uac warning?

cheers, chi

jayparker(Posted 2008) [#10]
Works nice on my vista.

Ross C(Posted 2008) [#11]
Your polycount will no doubt double if you turn off hardware multitexture, as the software is probably rendering everything twice to perform the multitexturing.

chi(Posted 2008) [#12]
ah, somehow clear ;) thanks for that... any way to disable layer1 so only layer2 is visible?

Ross C(Posted 2008) [#13]
I have no idea i'm afraid :o)

Zeotrope(Posted 2008) [#14]
What a cool idea.

Nice demo, love the ambient sounds. Maybe a little dark below deck. Dark looks good but usually, in combat games, can get a little annoying.

I like the sunlight casting on the terrain (thu the roof) ...needs dusty beams of light perhaps.

Looking forward to this one.

mtnhome3d(Posted 2008) [#15]
i can't open the file, it tells me its corrupt.
edit, nevermind i got it open., it looks awesome.

chi(Posted 2008) [#16]
v0.3 is up ;)

@ thermo... i could do a lot of visual effects but i need good performance also on low-end pcīs. but dusty beams would look great... iīm looking into it!
and about the darkness... i don't like dark games too but in this case i just (tried) to rebuild the field as realistic as i could. and itīs damn dark down there ^^

@all... please let me know if you found a bug or got some ideas to spice it up a little...

... and again, thx!

mtnhome3d(Posted 2008) [#17]
some of the textures are grainy when you get faily close. the bricks for sure. also i saw some repeat on the light orange brick. also you ply wood looks a little like straw. other than that, it looks awesome. thi red brick is good but as you get closer it really pixelates.

Ross C(Posted 2008) [#18]
I agree with the brick texture. It could do with some more variation, bits missing, discolouration etc. Looks fantastic though.

andy_mc(Posted 2008) [#19]
Runs fine here, brings back painful memories and bruises asses and steamed up goggles.

Is there any way he could maybe use multitexturing on the bricks to stop them blurring so much on close ups?

chi(Posted 2008) [#20]
the biggest problem is... i'm not a cg! i know photoshop -> and that's all ;)
i think i found the brick-texture somewhere on the net and changed it a little bit... but it was low quality from the scratch.

got a link to a nice tileable brick-texture? ;) or any ps-pro around?

cheers, chi

I hope that was in someway related to the paint balling!
