The Time Of The Dark has finally been updated!

for those of you who were frustrated by the first Version
of the game, I implore you to give it a second chance.

You can now exit the game by pressing ESC at any time.

The text has been modified slightly for level 1, to make
the combat system more understandable.

And the all of the images, music, and source code, have
each been put in there respective folders to make things
easier to find.(Like the Instruction Manual.)

Have Fun!

Go To http://hosted.filefront.com/werdnaworld to
download it.

You can also go to http://gallery.filefront.com/werdnaworld for screen shots.

And be sure to consult the instruction manual, if you
have any questions.

You might want to put the screenshots in your first post, as it would draw more attention (most of the times I'm even to lazy to open an external site to look at them).

The game looks great. A bit weird, but I think that's what you're aiming for. The music is great too, did you make it yourself?

plash(Posted 2008) [#5]
I have no idea what you were going for with this, but it might be a good habit to use structured folders for your media (ie. gfx for images sfx/sound/music for audio and, if you use it, data for game data - levels, maps.. whatever doesn't pertain to the other categories).

caff_(Posted 2008) [#6]
This is a genuinely crazy game.

WERDNA(Posted 2008) [#7]
Yes, I was going for weird.
And no, unfortunatly the music is not my own.
Glad you enjoyed it Conard :)
And I will work on better structure with my source folders Plash,Thanks for pointing it out.

caff_(Posted 2008) [#8]
Also please make it so that players can quit the game easily with ESC key. I hate having to Task List -> End Process.

chwaga(Posted 2008) [#9]
yeah, try photobucket, photobucket rox :)

WERDNA(Posted 2008) [#10]
You can quit the game by typing 123 in the passwords
screen.Or you can just lose all your lives of course.
But I know what you mean about ESC, it certainly would be more convenient.
Glad that you guys are enjoying the game though.

Downloading now, will test tonight. (Don't have internet in hotel room :-( )

WERDNA(Posted 2008) [#12]
There are 4 secret games hidden in Time Of The Dark.
See if you can find them all.(The're worth it!)

andy_mc(Posted 2008) [#13]
I tried this but could get out the mze, kept running into bats and slimes. Also, how do I attack them? I type in 1 and 2 but nothing happens.

I looked at your source code, in one word, insane. How do you cope with that many different types and functions all over the place? You do comment your code which is good, but otherwise it's madness.

However, given how much code there is and how little time you've been using blitz3d, then it's very good. I'm sure you're games will continue to improve and your code will become very structured and a good template for all your future games (which is what a framework is).

WERDNA(Posted 2008) [#14]
Look at the instruction booklet for combat info,
it's found in the same folder as everything else.
Also if you do still get stuck in the maze,(Which is a very hard level)
then you can type the following passwords in the passwords screen(accesed by pressing 'P')
to skip to the next level.

111 = go to level 1
222 = go to level 2
333 = go to level 3
123 = exit game

Enjoy!

Yes, and that walking person is also from the blitz disk WERDNA. COPYRIGHT!

WERDNA(Posted 2008) [#19]
LoL, I forgot about that one.
Sorry, I'll remove him in the next Version of
the game.
He's just a place holder anyways.

I'm pretty sure that the author of the book
said that it was okay to use him though.

Cp(Posted 2008) [#20]
Yeah. Its not a big deal, you just cant sell(for $$$$) a game without asking the author of that book.
EDIT:
U might be right though... but it doesnt really go with the style.

WERDNA(Posted 2008) [#21]
LOL,
I won't be able to sell the Time Of The Dark for quite
some time.
The game, even with its current 2 and half levels, is
about 1% complete.

Who was John Galt?(Posted 2008) [#22]
Gadzooks you'll be wearing a LIOFNIT hat next, master of darkness. Thanks for the background tip.

Cp(Posted 2008) [#23]

WERDNA(Posted 2008) [#24]

mtnhome3d(Posted 2008) [#25]
i'll help a little too as i'm not doing much latley.

WERDNA(Posted 2008) [#26]
Thanks Mayaman101.

Currently I'm busy working on 2 other games,
Battery Man, And Across The Land, but when I
begin work on The Time Of The Dark again I will
certainly appreciate the help.

In the next Version of the game I will complete Level 3,
and then begin work on level 4, which will be the first
real level of the game, that actually begins telling the
story.

If you have any graphics or code to contribute. I would
certainly appreciate it.

For level 3, I need about 4 more MiniGames.
All of which must be platformers.

Level 4, will be a level where one of the main characters
(Gil), is having a dream about a castle that is preparing
to defend itself against an army of Dark creatures called
The Dark.

Thanks again everyone,
(Especially Cp and MayaMan101)
