http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolax ¿?¿? Interesting!! I don't now it!

In spanish (I'm from spain) BolaX is like (more or less) BallZ in english.

I'm trying hard not to giggle :)

BolaX also sounds like a British term for testicles as is Balls.

sswift(Posted 2008) [#6]
As in "Balls of Steel", a pinball game which plays off that dual meaning. :-)

Well actually the whole title is a double entendre, because when someone is brave one would say that they have balls of steel.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the title Bolax though. But I'm not british, so I don't know how offensive they find that term. :-)

Oh and I didn't know that either. I just looked it up on google to see if maybe it was a spanish word, or a play on the word "Bolas" which I think means balls, because that is the name of a weapon which is three balls connected by chain which is thrown to tangle in someone's legs or bind their arms or neck.

I don't think anyone here knew that it was some plant. :-)

IceVAN(Posted 2008) [#7]
Opps! X)

I believe that I did not give a too appropriate name him to the game.
Although in the game also there are full balls :)

Suggestions for a new name are admitted ;P

Did you see the this thread?

People were already talking about your game before you posted this. :-)

I think you should keep the name, if you plan to sell the game. It only sounds like the british slang, and a name which gets people to talk about the game is sure to help sales.

Oh and a correction:

Against all odds, Puki, of all people, noted that it was the name of a plant before anyone else. :-)

LineOf7s(Posted 2008) [#9]
In fairness, if people can critically acclaim, port to other platforms and sell quite happily a game called "Sticky Balls", then "BolaX" should be fine. :o)

I'd keep it, and pretend you named it like that on purpose.

"thats bollocks that is"
translates to "thats rubish"
its on the same level as saying bulls**t

if you want to be posh
"utter twaddle and claptrap" ;)
i answered the phone with that once, trying my best to sound like i worked for a legal firm

Or, as my friends in the North of England say, "That's the dog's bollocks". In which case its a very good thing.

Ginger Tea(Posted 2008) [#12]
gave it a go
music is very repetitive
its nice but it loops too soon so it reminds me of dvd menu's when the film has finished and im too tired to eject the disc
got to level 10 then needed a piss so i just let it count down to zero

if it wernt for the flashing spheres and the time resets i dont think i would have gotten that far ;)

i dont mind match 3 / bejeweled type games ... they sometimes end up on my todo list (and ive found a deflektor board game so i now have to avoid looking like THAT too)

IceVAN(Posted 2008) [#13]
Hi Ginger tea and thanks for criticize it.

If you need a piss, you can hit ESC to turn on PAUSE ;P

thanks!

Ginger Tea(Posted 2008) [#14]
will bear that in mind
esc is the default quit in blitz so i didnt bother hitting it ;)

it did 'quit' to windows twice
not too surwe if it was the game or my system
the game was still running it hadnt died but ive no idea if the game was 'paused' whilst not not the dominant task (twas full screen not windowed)

z80jim(Posted 2008) [#15]
this is funny reading all this now :D

Ginger Tea(Posted 2008) [#16]

Damien Sturdy(Posted 2008) [#17]

Ginger Tea(Posted 2008) [#18]
i do like the tinkle crash sound they make when they dissapear

kinda reminds me of smashing up christmas baubles

steve_ancell(Posted 2008) [#19]
Will there be a Christmas version, by the name of Jingle BolaX ?. :P.

slenkar(Posted 2008) [#20]
or her name could be Mary Huff

IceVAN(Posted 2008) [#21]
Hi steve_ancell

Good idea the Christmas version!! and Easter version too rabbits BolaX or ... rabbits eggX?? ;P

Fixed version is uploaded:

http://www.deliriumstudios.com/minideliriums/bolax/index.php

bye!

Ginger Tea(Posted 2008) [#22]
eggX sounds crap
cos its now egg X
where in bolax its a part of the phonetics of the word
bollox instead of bollocks

the only way you could get egg and X working is if you take the X away from words
like eggstreeme easter

steve_ancell(Posted 2008) [#23]
Back on topic... I downloaded it last night, and I have to admit... It's fun to play with BolaX :D.
