Nice - is this Blitz Max?

nawi(Posted 2008) [#3]
Which operating system is this for?

Stu_ovine(Posted 2008) [#4]
yea its max using minib3d for the background tunnel.

its been tested on windows xp and vista (make sure you have your upto date drivers)

Perturbatio(Posted 2008) [#5]
I like it, although it's a bit too busy for me. The background is too much in the foreground and the explosions have a tendency to hide enemies just as they're in the cocky area. (oo-err)

puki(Posted 2008) [#6]
"Minter"? Is that you? Hello?

Filax(Posted 2008) [#7]
I like the "flashy" style :) congratulation :)

Stu_ovine(Posted 2008) [#8]
Hehehehe yea you cant have too many particles on screen, to be even mentioned in the same sentence as Minter is a massive honor and exactly the look we were going for - very Retro ;)

ImaginaryHuman(Posted 2008) [#9]
Mac version? ;-)

unlikely(Posted 2008) [#10]
Get rid of that question mark. Be firm.

Mac version.

;)

ervin(Posted 2008) [#11]
Great game.
Lots of fun and really hectic.

Just a little question if I may...
Is there anything in the game that is sync'd to the music?
Or is it just my imagination?

The reason I ask is that I have been (for a long time) looking for a way to synchronise on-screen action to music, without having to manually tell the game when the beats take place.

Stu_ovine(Posted 2008) [#12]
> ervin

There are several elements that are sync'd but unfortunately they are manually input. -well apart from the title screen that does actually look at what is playing and reacts accordingly. The title screen music had an easily detectable beat :)

We have no access to a Mac so - no Mac version - sorry.

V2 has just been uploaded :-

Download the patch from http://quantasm.ovine.net/v2.zip or download the full version from http://quantasm.ovine.net

Due to popular demand the turning speed of the ship has been increased.

Good work. Couple of problems running on win98SE, though:
- I get no sound (SFX or music).
- Exiting left my desktop at 800x600.

Damien Sturdy(Posted 2008) [#16]
I swear to god I'm going to *donate* a new computer to you Big. That machine of yours.... has it ever worked??? X-D

Stu_ovine(Posted 2008) [#17]
Windows 98 ! that still around ?!

Im surprised sound not working as we use BASS http://www.un4seen.com and never had trouble with it before.

Exiting left the desktop at 800x600.... thats over to BRL :) must be a an Opengl/windows thing.

big10p(Posted 2008) [#18]
Poor, old win98. Hey, it's ten years old, this year! \o/

Réno(Posted 2008) [#19]
I really like the style... downloading now...

Doiron(Posted 2008) [#20]
Hey, but that's a modern take on Cylon Zap!

Great game... I was wondering for some time now what the game in your signature played like. :)

Stu_ovine(Posted 2008) [#21]
Its actually based on an old game called BEDLAM on the VECTREX, just given a modern style..........

Avrigus(Posted 2008) [#22]
Ahh yes I have Bedlam on the classic old Vectrex! I still have my vectrex in good working order at my parents house :-)

Just had a play, very cool game! Nice and slick!

Twitchfactor(Posted 2008) [#23]
Game's freekin' awesome! Love the over-the-top fx and the aural assault! Is this BlitzMax?

Would love to see more Vectrex games updated. I'm actually working on a game that's inspired by Cosmic Chasm.

Again, awesome work.

Stu_ovine(Posted 2008) [#24]
Yes its BlitzMax ;)

Uncle(Posted 2008) [#25]
Love it. Spent a few good hours playing this last night. One thing though, it seemed to hang when I sent my hiscores even though I wasn't online at the time.... I know I know I should have done it but I wanted to see what happened. Great game though :)

ImaginaryHuman(Posted 2008) [#26]

chwaga(Posted 2008) [#27]

unlikely(Posted 2008) [#28]
Is there no way for you to borrow a Mac? ;)

ImaginaryHuman(Posted 2008) [#29]
Or send a mac person your source to compile it for you?

Twitchfactor(Posted 2008) [#30]
I've got plenty of Macs at work that I plan on using to compile my projects on, until I can buy one of my own.

Let me know.
