Hello !

I would like to show you an idea i had today, inspired by the 3d software "creature creator".

I'll try to do a similar program but for 2d colored and animated sprites.
This is a screenshot :

Sorry if the alien i've made is not enought beautiful, but i'm not a pixel artist.

I'm searching for a graphist interested by the project. I'll program all, i've a clear idea in my head of what to do, and i don't need money, so, if someone is interested to work with me, the software will be him's when it will be finished. It can be a shareware, a freeware... the only thing that i want is to program it.
It can be a usefull tool for "2d beat them all" games if there is a lot of creatures limbs/animations.

I very hope this project will be created :-)

OK so it will do all the bodypart moves by itself? But I don't thin kit will handle torso turning left and right let's say when you are slaying a dragon with a big sword... :P

Tough call doing a good and efficient tool for this. Also, you could have movement of the eyes, or head turning...

There will be those animations :

static
idle
walking
running
crouch
jump
protect
hands attack (kick with hands)
leg attack
simple gun attack (like a sword or axe)
firegun (one arm)
firegun (two arms)
power 1 (a sangoku like attack)
power 2 (a shinobi like attack)
power 3 (undefined at this time)
get a hit
die

For each bodypart, they will be those animations.
The sprites movements will be inspired by the games "altered beast", "barbarian 2" and "rastan saga"

Um, I think they did something like this on the Commodore 64 in 1982 or something. Cant remember who the publisher was.(Maybe Commodore?)
Perhaps you should get hold of that and have a look?
Maybe someone here can remember the name of the game??!

Rastan Saga!!!!!!!!!!!! :P~~~~

OK, so when do you think this will be ready?

:D

I know "5th axe" on amstrad cpc, where monsters where bodyparts randomely used together. Is it the game you say, mrbombermillzy ?

Vignoli(Posted 2007) [#8]
the program will be quickly made but sprites for sprites, it's another thing... :-)

Hi,

It could be a very useful tool. But I don't uderstand what you expect from an 2D artist now...

Vignoli(Posted 2007) [#10]
Hi Réno,

I need a 2d artist to draw better that i can do ! :-)

The best i can do is here : , but i've not enought knowledge on pixel art to make all animations alone.

Attends, mais tu es français !!! Ecris-moi sur :

information@...

_33(Posted 2007) [#15]
Réno, I have a problem with your e-mail. twice the message comes back...

MGE(Posted 2007) [#16]
how are the animations put together?

Vignoli(Posted 2007) [#17]
Hi,
they will be for each bodypart 5 sprites by animation.
(but they are no animation for the static position)

Each animation has a ".txt" file containing how the limbs are joined together, for each animation.
