You're bored... You can't be arsed to work on your main project... So you go off and do something silly like write a car game?

No... Just me then?

OK

Download in my downloads section on my site!

Arrow keys to accel / brake / steer.

Um... Hit esc when you get bored!

The primary functions of this are in...
You burn rubber accelerating from stand still!
You can power slide (sort of)
You can do dougnuts!
The car is shiny!

Do car AAA games need anything else?

That's all Gotham racing's got isn't it?

Comments welcome!

I totally wish I wrote little games when I got bored.

Then again, I read books, so that's good too.

Takes me back to the days of SuperSprint hehe nice!

Yeah, that's what it's all about! Cool beans ;)

polygoon(Posted 2006) [#7]
Got games controller ability in it?

Stevie G(Posted 2006) [#8]
It won't let me download without going via Paypal?!

jhocking(Posted 2006) [#9]
Cool man, that was fun! Any chance you'll release the code? If you used any commercial libraries (eg. the particle system) then of course you can't, but if you do I might have a go at writing some AI for other cars.

>> Takes me back to the days of SuperSprint hehe nice!
Yeah, I've actually fixed the camera on the car now and made a track much bigger so it scrolls around more like supercars.

>> Yeah, that's what it's all about! Cool beans ;)
Ta!

>> Got games controller ability in it?
No

>> It won't let me download without going via Paypal?!
Yes, you have to pay me lots of money before you can download it. £1000 is the minimum for a single download. Either that or you're doing something wrong.

>> Cool man, that was fun! Any chance you'll release the code?
Might do, depends if I want to turn this into a game myself!

LarsG(Posted 2006) [#11]
hey.. this has got some nice potential...
Add a few AI cars and a 2 player option!! ;)

.. found it a little difficult to steer though...
it kinda went from standstill to lotsa-speed + sliding fairly fast... :p

I should start keeping a list of things Lotus is used in..

Damien Sturdy(Posted 2006) [#13]
'Ere, How do you know its Lotus? :D

Cool game-

I also write stuff when bored!

polygoon(Posted 2006) [#14]
p>> Got games controller ability in it?
RF> No

OK, shan't bother downloading then; nothing personal, just a New Year resolution.

Uses my graphics.

jhocking(Posted 2006) [#16]
I don't use Lotus, but I do use the particle images from Lotus.

Rob Farley(Posted 2006) [#17]
I use Lotus because it's really good and easy to use! I use Lotus in my Helicopter game too.

>> OK, shan't bother downloading then; nothing personal, just a New Year resolution.
There goes my night's sleep.

Grey Alien(Posted 2006) [#18]
I know the feeling of writing mini games when bored. Now don't improve it any more! Just get back to your main project!

Why0Why(Posted 2006) [#19]
A fun little project. i would be interested in seeing the code too. I have wanted to remake the classic AutoDuel for years, just too many projects and not enough time.

Love the hyper-realistic track...

How do you get grass to look like that? :P

Banshee(Posted 2006) [#22]
multiplayer and GNET matchmaking please ! :) I want a challenger !

Q(Posted 2006) [#23]
That is awesome.. But it'd be REALLY awesome if you could make the car go *boom* from a head-on collision with the wall. Just a thought :D
