How much longer before we get a demo?

Looks great!

ashmantle(Posted 2005) [#8]
You made that?!!!

Im in awe!

Robert Cummings(Posted 2005) [#9]
Yeah JP has been making commercial games since the 80's afaik... the dude has his head screwed on.

I tried a demo of Naked War back on the rllmuk place and it rocked, didn't have time to contribute though...

It's genius fun, goes beyond what worms ever could.

Neuro(Posted 2005) [#10]
Holy shiznatch...

FBEpyon(Posted 2005) [#11]
this is very cool lookin, have been trying to figure out how to make a system like this in a long time, if there was a chance you could get ahold of me and help with getting a terrain system like this going that would be sweet :P, but anyways this is very P I M P keep it up :P

mrtricks(Posted 2005) [#12]
Wow. Looking better and better. Can't wait to play this.

It's no smaller.

John Pickford(Posted 2005) [#15]
I'll be recruiting a new batch of testers in a few days. I'll post something on here when the new build is ready.

boomboommax(Posted 2005) [#16]

ouhhh nice!

MadJack(Posted 2005) [#22]
11megs...hmm...how about some screenies?

John Pickford(Posted 2005) [#23]
I've posted screenshots in the past:

http://www.blitzbasic.com/Community/posts.php?topic=45644

but these vids are demonstrating landscape destruction so still images wouldn't really do it justice.

Mr. Write Errors Man(Posted 2005) [#24]
I really like this game. It's definately the best Blitz made game I have so far seen. Too bad I have been totally out of time to play it. :(

Jeremy Alessi(Posted 2005) [#25]
Rad!

Nicstt(Posted 2005) [#26]
looks great

ImaginaryHuman(Posted 2005) [#27]
But smokers die sooner ;-)

Well anyway, game looks nice, I like the movement when the tank is moving around

nawi(Posted 2005) [#28]
If you need testers contact me

RocketGnome(Posted 2005) [#29]
Very Classy John.

(How goes it btw.. I haven't been around here in awhile)

Booted up Aqua Aqua on the PS2 the other day and thought of ya though.. hehhehe :)

Hotcakes(Posted 2005) [#30]
Man, Aqua Aqua infuriated me. My g/f loved it though... even tho I kept beating her... what does John have to do with it?

Or is it just the graphical styles you think are the same...

John Pickford(Posted 2005) [#31]
I designed & coded the original Wetrix. Aqua Aqua was the sequel which I also designed - although a fair proportion of the design decisions were made by the Japanese publisher funding it (Hence the little blokes running around and the very little change from the original in terms of gameplay).

BlackJumper(Posted 2005) [#32]
I spent about 10 hours on Saturday night playing "Warrior Knights" - the Games Workshop boardgame from about 1980 - with my brother. It was great (and a total nostalgia trip!!)

I mentioned how good Naked War was looking and we are both keen to sign up as Beta testers if possible... Our games of chess using ItsYourTurn seem to have died off since I consistently whupped his ass - and we don't keep in touch properly unless there is some fraternal rivalry to force return of serve.

John Pickford(Posted 2005) [#33]
This is more of a gameplay thing than a visual change: Standing on a building claims "ownership" of that tile + all connected building tiles. Enemy units cannot stand on tiles owned by the other side.

Whilst standing on a building you own, your units have virtually infinite movment distance. So you could theoretically defend all four sides of a large castle with a single unit.

The building returns to 'neutral' status when your unit leaves.

You'll also be able to enter\leave buildings by the ground floor. So you can get to the top of towers by entering the base.

This is a shot from a test map I knocked up with single units 'owning' large buildings:

FBEpyon(Posted 2005) [#34]
Im have a question is the terrain system your own function, or are you using the blitz3d terrain system, I would think you were using your own, but Im just checking.

John Pickford(Posted 2005) [#35]
It's all my own work. The environments are built polygon by polygon in code.

Binary_Moon(Posted 2005) [#36]
The building thing sounds really good. No more trying to find somewhere low enough to jump to the top of the building.

John Pickford(Posted 2005) [#37]
Yes, that's always been planned. Buildings are fairly useless in the current build unless you use helicopters.

John Pickford(Posted 2005) [#38]
You can now get onto the buildings!

New version should be available tomorrow.

Raitsun(Posted 2005) [#39]
Do you have music for this game already?

John Pickford(Posted 2005) [#40]
Click on my sig.

Ross C(Posted 2005) [#41]
Looks very nice man. Stupid to point this out, but the red decorations hanging draw your eye in away from alot else there. Looks very sweet though.

Steve Elliott(Posted 2005) [#42]
Very impressive as always - expected release date?

Raitsun(Posted 2005) [#43]
cool music... heard it long time ago, when you put it in the forums... just didn't remember
looks VERY stylish...
has much of Worms... destroyable terrain, funny environment
but will probably have more tactic gameplay, wich i like very much...
hope it gets funny animations and characters saying cool oneliners

much cooler oneliners than worms' "oh-oh" "goodbye" Stuff. :]
