hehe, nice!

Perturbatio(Posted 2005) [#3]
nice :)
although when I installed it, it went to preview mode, the preview appeared up the top left, ran 4 copies of the program and wouldn't close without me using task mangler.

Other than that, it looks really good :)

*EDIT*
Also, the few times I ran it, the green slug thing was restricted to being a green line that went up the left edge of the screen (I first thought it was a graphical glitch).

Paul "Taiphoz"(Posted 2005) [#4]
yeah I had a similar crazy thing happen.

Any chance of a look at the source ?

TheMan(Posted 2005) [#5]
same trouble here !!

RiverRatt(Posted 2005) [#6]
Hmm. Sounds like you all have a bug or two.

FischGurke(Posted 2005) [#7]
This looks funny, I wish I could see it in action (me=no windows).
Is there a tool to record a movie of the screen for windows?!

I'll try to fix it

I can compile a mac version

Is it supposed to always jump to 60 Hz monitor refresh rate? Personally I think that really sucks, sorry. I think 60 Hz just looks really flickery, plus on my monitor the image isn't calibrated right in 60 Hz mode.

But, other than that, I think it's really cool! The wasps look cool and smooth. But the green crawler also didn't appear right on my system.

John Pickford(Posted 2005) [#10]
They look like bees.

Perturbatio(Posted 2005) [#11]
They look more like bee-wasps mutants.

basps or wees.

I use the default refresh mode: graphics LG,HT,MODE,-1. Bmax make a quick choice.

I use the default refresh mode: graphics LG,HT,MODE,-1. Bmax make a quick choice.

That's strange. You see, I actually "fooled" Windows by making it believe my monitor doesn't support 60 Hz. I do that so that no game will ever use 60 Hz automaticly.

So why would BlitzMax think 60 Hz is my default refresh rate? Very strange...

EDIT: Oops, I just noticed, I forgot to do the trick to fool Windows last time I installed my videocard drivers.

version 1.1
-----------
- the saver can detect your display settings ( W / H / MODE / HERTZ )
- fixed: crawler start position
- fixed: preview position (I hope it's OK)
- fixed: program extra-copies

Crashes on my machine, with an XP "program encountered an error and needs to close" error.

First three times it crashed immediately, fourth time some bees kind of swung back and forth for a second before crashing, after that it crashed again without showing anything.

Just out of curiosity, how are you mixing the BMax graphics and the desktop? Do you somehow have an invisible overlay over the real desktop, or did you manage to grab a picture of the desktop instead?

Bouncer(Posted 2005) [#16]
Works, but the green maggot is crowling from the left bottom of the screen to the upper left corner of the sceen. So it moves UP on my screen instead moving from left to right on the taskbar.

Otherwise, very cool saver.

Damn, this maggot seems to have its own IA.
Could you make a screenshot ?

Perturbatio(Posted 2005) [#18]
that's what was happening with me, but all I saw was a green line.

Boiled Sweets(Posted 2005) [#19]
Hi,

could you let me know how you managed to run in the preview window? I don't suppose you would kind enough to share how this screen saver works with the community?

I would dearly love to try and write a SS in BlitzMax.
