Super uber fantabulously sexy! Don't try to translate that, I made it up.

But what's it with everything coming out from Blitz3Dfr? You make everything commercial.

Filax(Posted 2005) [#3]
My web site for french blitz community is not free (.com and space
to paid) :) blitz3dfr cost me more than 200 euros by year ...

Blitz3dfr is not a 'partner' of the official blitzbasic site, i'm a simple
user...

Business is business :)

What the...200 eur--GET A NEW WEBHOST! That's like the $500 toilet seat, right there.
Please be honest with me, filax. Were you drunk when you registered the website?

Filax(Posted 2005) [#5]
I does not lie.

http://hosteur.com/

Look the :
-----------------
Lion 160 1 Go 50 Go 8 3 25

+ The domain name to paid each year.

+ band-width to add because my web site have many members
(the forum comsume many band-width) this year i have add 2 time
band-width (35 euros one) else my site down....

If i compute :
160+20+2*35 = 250

Ok ? :) we are in france ;) to have the Web is a luxury.

It's in English, but look around for prices! You're paying a lot more than you need to be.

Filax 200 euros for webhosting , that's too much
look at http://www.newbiesite.com/index.htm
24.95USD a years for domain name + webhosting

I think you better switch for a cheap hosting..

Filax(Posted 2005) [#8]
Sure but it's not very easy to migrate sql base between different
provider :) but i keep your link :)

poet(Posted 2005) [#9]
I think the Euro lets people loose their standards....
30 of that for a begin (maybe a good begin) seems pretty much to me.
So I start thinking, what will be a complete Blitzmax then? (including Gui and 3D)
And a Blitzmax with some more modules, like net, audio, movie etc., what will that be in the future...
In my opinion 80$ is not little money for a Basic Language, but standards increase...
Modules open the way to the infinite...

Or you can do it yorself, like I do.

Get a permanent IP, find a free DNS provider, and get your own webserver. Works very well for me.

That's what I have done as well (about 4 years ago).

Luckily my ISP doesn't change my ip unless I am disconnected for more than 36 hours.

Currently I am running one web server (40 gig currently hosting to 12 domains (friends and such)), one backup server (360 gig) and one linux box just for messing around with.

25MB Web Space
Your Own Domain Name
500 MB per month Bandwidth

He's had to pay extra bandwidth on top of 80 gigabytes a month. If his web server is stable and has a good uptime, and is fully managed, then 200 euros a year isn't that much. We pay 3 times that for the server I'm on.

Filax(Posted 2005) [#14]
Pfiuu :) i have release the first mac version :) there is some little bug
but the gui is functional. happy day ...

What the...200 eur--GET A NEW WEBHOST!
Although I have not looked at the specs of his host, people need to remember there is a huge difference between legitimate web hosting services and the "gimmick hosts" who generally target newbies and promise silly things like unlimited bandwidth or outrageous GB amounts of bandwidth for $20 per month.

There is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth and the sites promising 20-80+GB per month of bandwidth for cheap prices are gimmicks as well and operate under that magical 10% server usage clause which is increasingly applied to the "minute". Even a small community forum site will easily gobble 30+ GB per month, and even one mildly successful shareware program will easily get 40+ GB per month in downloads.

Kudos to Filax for providing a professional service to his users and web visitors. Unlike most of the dodgy "gimmick hosting" services Filax's site is always stable and reliable. Professional web hosting is VERY expensive, and you really do get what you pay for. Most of these "gimmick hosts" are mom and pop services which rent server space and resell it and some are even kids who are running clunky servers out of their parent's basement. Legitimate hosting service from a legitimate company will cost you some $$.

I have been the webmaster for several years for a semi-major ministry based in Spartanburg, SC. Real Audio/Video versions of the radio and TV programs are streamed from the site (around 1500 shows in the archive), along with all the text resources and text based study materials, plus the "store". The monthly bandwidth is well into the double-digit TBs and currently the cost is around 1.2 Million USD per month for bandwidth & servers. This is just a semi-major ministry. Many of the major ministries are paying 5+ Million USD per month for bandwidth & servers.

IGlass looks awesome Filax. It definitely looks to be the best GUI I have seen for BMax so far. It almost makes me want to buy BMax ;c)

RiK(Posted 2005) [#17]
VERY impressed with IGlass so far.

Quality piece of work Filax, keep it up!

Grisu(Posted 2005) [#18]
When I code under Win32 can I easily port the Gui to MAC?
Or is the command set different?

Qube(Posted 2005) [#19]
Well said Brice Manuel. People who recommend the cheap as hell hosting companies have no idea about the reality of real usage costs.

Filax(Posted 2005) [#20]
mipooh : I have change a little bit the IGlass price...

Grisu : No the command are the same.

Grisu(Posted 2005) [#21]
Price: up or down?

I already bought it... check your share it account... :)

Filax(Posted 2005) [#22]

I'm joke :)

I'm waiting for bmax mac debugging for release the PC and mac
