Would anyone here ever be interested in hiring a composer to do custom audio for their projects? What would be the deciding factor for you guys, and what would you guys be willing to pay?

Here is a 30-second sample of one of my past works.
This is a combination of synthesized sounds and thematic orchestral material. I liked the texture that it created.

Anyway, let me know what you guys think, and if you would pay for stuff like this.
If you are seriously interested in this stuff, or want to hear more samples in a variety of styles, e-mail me at nws2222@...

Thanks,

-Matt Gilg

It's really nice. I'll certainly bear you in mind for the future. What program do you use to put it together by the way?

Caff(Posted 2005) [#3]
In my experience Blitzbasic is not the best place to advertise - try gamedev.net, I got a few replies there. But in my experience, most indie developers who approach you will ask you to work for nothing and take a cut at the end.

If you're willing to work like that, I'm sure you'll get some offers!

I like it.

@mrtricks:
I use all kinds of software. For the most part, I use cakewalk sonar 4 for sequencing. Sometimes I'll use Sibaleus to score orchestral pieces, because it allows me to print off formal scores to hand to members of an orchestra for live performance. (just in case)
I also use a production synth with a vast sound set for creating pieces like the ones above. I've been concentrating my efforts in writing for film, but I think it would be fun to do some stuff in game development.
I've got loads of samples, and if you guys are interested to hear some more, just mail me.

@Caff: Yeah, but it is more of a personal thing for me. I hung out here all the time back when I was modeling and texturing in 3ds max, and met some cool folks. I've tried gamedev.net, but haven't gotten a reply. Also, know that I write music because of my love for it. If projects look promising, or just fun to score, I'd most likely be willing to work for nothing up front and a cut at the end. Music is my passion, and giving back to this community would be a positive thing in my eyes. I'm blessed enough to have the talent and resources, so why not? :)

@Beaker: Thanks dude.

Very good. Can you do cheerful/fun game tunes as well, along the lines of those found in Mario games?

Matt2222(Posted 2005) [#7]
@big10p:
Yes, I've done some oldies like that. :)
Here are links to two pieces that I wrote a few years ago, shooting for an old top-gearish racing game kind of feel.
You may use them as long as you give me credit for my work, and keep me posted as to where it is used. I enjoy seeing the ways people apply the stuff I write. :)

Ok guys, I guess I can show you how my pieces turn out completed. Below is the link to piece that was written after the 30 second demo got me contracted. It is the title theme for a game in development called Conflict Omega. Unfortunately, since this is a contracted work, I have to ask that you not use this in your own commercial projects. Hope you like what you hear, and I hope people find this post. :)

Thanks all and Enjoy!
