Drey(Posted 2005) [#1]
In my lighting post, I decided to show off a screen of my early work in blitz.

Take us down memory lane or if u're just starting out, show us how u're coming along.

I'll start us off course, made this in lil under a week after gettin blitz.

WolRon(Posted 2005) [#2]
Are you illiterate or do you type that way on purpose?

of = off
earily = early
line = lane
u're = you're
lil = little
gettin = getting

Not everyone here types English natively. Please try to take the time to type coherently.
(If English isn't your native language, then the above mistakes are understandable.)

By the way, your topic here is why the Graphics and Blitz showcase forums exist.

But, since you started it, here is a screenshot of the first game I started messing with in Blitz. I added some cool features to the Tron demo (different perspectives, sound, etc.).

Drey(Posted 2005) [#3]
Yea, i screwed up a bit. I just pump out the text as fast as possible and move on to the next thing. You have good points on line and early. The rest is just short hand i use on aim and such.

Maybe this thread should be in Blitz Showcase or Graphics Showcase, but anyway.

Here's a screenie from the first game I made with Blitz3D, "Fledged Hoverboard Championship", development abandoned, but was a pretty funny experience.

A game I never finished... rewrote twice... and still never finished... It's a nice idea that might be worth investigating at some time in the future.. but not right now!

Damien Sturdy(Posted 2005) [#9]
I didnt have internet when i started, but my first game was quads 1, My first game when i had internet was quad2 over at blitzcoder showcase under Driving. The downloads broken at the moment as i reorganised my FTP.

[edit]
actually, Den Bros 4 from there was an earlier game... my 2nd blitz game in fact, not quad2, which was my 3rd.... :)

SopiSoft(Posted 2005) [#10]
@ Malice: I am glad you liked it! ;-)

The Caffeine Kid(Posted 2005) [#11]
My first Blitz game (first coding since the ZX Spectrum) was from end of 2002, for the BlitzCoder 8bit game competition and had to have lowres and 16 colours...

Half Pang, half Space Invaders with a bit of Bullet Time from Max Payne in there for good measure. lol.

Guys and gals, interesting post indeed !

I'll add my contribute, which is my first fps done in B3D, more a proof-to-concept about A* and AI than a game, thus no sounds and no music, but in some way challenging:

It was really useful to me, to get the grasp of the 3D commands.

It still 'resists' at my website. ;-)

Sergio.

SopiSoft(Posted 2005) [#13]
@ Semar: that is not a FPS! It is a 3rd Person Shooter! ;-P

_PJ_(Posted 2005) [#14]
It looks the VR simulator demo of MGS a bit! :)

AMIGA:

I'm going way back on the memory lane...
These were written by me back on the Ami Blitz :)

DIE!

http://www.cd-r-direct.co.uk/AC2Info/Die.html

I just remember the hacking with the inline asm to get enough bullets running on my A1200... heh...

and AMPU

http://www.cd-r-direct.co.uk/AC2Info/Ampu.html

As you can see... they still hang around the web... too bad I lost the sources for these when my amigas HD crashed..

PC:

My first pc blitz game 'nano' is still in development ... check my sig.

Grey Alien(Posted 2005) [#20]
Call me dumb, but how do I post a screenshot? Is there a forum FAQ which has all the commands in like [code] etc?

Thanks Perturbatio

Grey Alien(Posted 2005) [#24]
OK I did loads of stuff on the Spectrum, BBC, Acorn, C64, Amiga 500 and 1200 and finally PC. But I can only post the PCs pics now boo hoo. Here is areally old game I wrote in Borland Turbo C for DOS.

and here is a Delphi 3 App.

SopiSoft(Posted 2005) [#25]
arent you supposed to only show Blitz stuff since this is the Blitz Showcase section?

BlackJumper(Posted 2005) [#26]
I wasn't going to embarass myself, but then I thought the typo in the title deserved a look at my "eerily" pagan tribute that I coded as a B3D learning exercise to celebrate the Vernal Equinox...

The idea was to collect zodiac symbols while being chased by some druids.

aab(Posted 2005) [#28]
I was making a zelda game as my first project, but i quit after the third dungoen.

It had about three-four hours of solid hard gameplay.
(Apparrently too hard)
The problem was that as it was my first game, me being a teen who had no pogramming experience whatsoever etc,
i hadnt learned how to economise through tile systems, and so i just had massive areas as gigantic bmps.
Easier to start again that continue with such a dead waste.
It was really fun to play as well.

IPete2(Posted 2005) [#29]
aab - Looks Fab!

IPete2.

Kuron(Posted 2005) [#30]
Wowzers, aab. That really does look good :c)

Falelorn(Posted 2005) [#31]
wow nice. You should start it over.

semar(Posted 2005) [#32]
aab, that looks fantastic. I whish I have that graphic art skill !

IMO you should keep on that *good* work !

Sergio.

*(Posted 2005) [#33]
aab: continue the project, I want to play that game =)

Does anyone have the tiles to the old Amiga game Knights by any chance?

slenkar(Posted 2005) [#34]
aab you ripped the graphics from the SNES?

_PJ_(Posted 2005) [#35]
On the speccy I wrote an editor all in Basic with POKEs,for 'Rebelstar' which was probably my greatest achievement. You could change all the graphics and the names of characters and things.

WoeIsMe(Posted 2005) [#36]
Heh, I think I'll be taking a few screenies of my old game to post up here. I think I've made A LOT of progress since I started!! :D
