I'm making a clone of my favourite Commodore Plus/4 game, Kikstart.
The reason the graphics are blocky is because I am using the original game graphics. The gameplay is very smooth though.(Unlike the Plus/4 version)
The levels were recreated from the original levels as well and there is a level editor for creating your own.
I am in the process of making a modern tileset as well and will give the user the option for classic mode, or new mode.

Currently it is only for Win32, hence no downloads !!

I will try a Mac version soon. I am only on PearPC though and may need some testers on real macs.

I own a G4 iBook and would like to test it, as soon as you need a tester. :)

Email me at mac@...

Can hardly remember the original, but when I play it again, who knows? :)

@Phil74
Why don't you use the C64 version of the GFX, they are a lot prettier and less blocky than the plus4 version ?
Still same game, just a thought.....

Same here... G4 PowerbookTi... I'll be happy to test.

1) What wedoe said 2) Do Kikstart 2 afterwards. That title music was cool. =]

Yeah the C64 version was much better looking :)

BODYPRINT(Posted 2004) [#7]
I never owned a C64, believe it or not !!
I will have to download an emulator and check out the graphics, music etc.

I loved the music on the Plus/4 version...don't know if it was the same, but I learned to play it on the piano...how sad !! :-)

I still want to keep this tile set, so maybe I will have a few to choose from when the game starts.

I will compile a Mac version as soon as the balloons, ninja stars and lightning are added. It's school holidays at the moment so I don't have as much time for programming.

Thanks for your interest guys.

Have a look at that, follow a few links, and eventually you'll want to go here as well if you don't have it already:

EHM!! I just happen to know that C64 STILL is cool... so take that :]

Grisu(Posted 2004) [#11]
My c64 is burried somewhere in the cellar.
So I only have vage memories of it.
Old times never come back. :(

*Grisu gets sentimental*

No it isn't. The C64 version was more tactical, the Plus4 version more action oriented. (think Elastomania vs. Motocross Madness or something).

I agree KickStart2 for the C64 was the best of the bunch -- the hours I've spent on the level editor alone...

Old times never come back. :(
Which is what we have emulators for...

Nah Miggy version was, natch. But you can't beat the C64 version for the nostalgia factor. =]

It's good to see remakes being worked on in Max already. :)

Keep up the good work. :D
