i really got tired of chasing around 3DGS and DarkBasic, each boasting shader capabilities, but in reality... each falling short, so i decided to see what Blitz could do...

i searched around and found a some of the better (read as more understandable to someone like me) code snippets from Paolo and TheDude, then i hacked em a bit and got bumpmapping working and the lights sorta looking like they're right.

vids taken down, sorry... need the space

Nice effect, but maybe you should use it with a not so fine structure. Especially in a 320*240 Movie it doesn't make a big difference from un-bumpmapped gemometry IMHO.

I downloaded the files and just saw a still picture - no movement whatsoever...

hate to be critical, but they look a little bit over embossed to me. you could get a similar effect by heavily embossing in pshop.

that's ok Ruz... that's what i put em up there for... honest feedback...

i'm evaluating them against real shaders in DBPro and 3DGS... trying to decide which way to go...

They all look very OK to me, nothing that is too noticably screwed up.

Especially like the blue brick demo. With (sawed) wood you probably don't need it. I'd like to see it with eg. egyptian reliefs etc. BTW here's some rough material:
