Workign on a tree editor to hopefully compliment fle. Nothing like The stuff over at aliencodec, if you got a few bucks i recommend theirs, but perhaps these will work as placeholder trees until you get the good editors. since I obviously cannot bundle any aliencodec tree makers with fle.. this is the best i can do.. its still in early stages, and this tree was made with very low res textures, and no lightmappig in the leaves.

Looks pretty cool for what it's worth. I think CopperCircle wrote a free (and open source) tree generator, might want to check that one out- it's pretty good.

thanks.. another tree addded to shots the polycount is unoptimized.. most trees should export under 400 tris.

Why? They are similar, but different.

I dont see this as a big deal to Aliencodec. This product is lower poly, and IMO in some ways better for games where the look of the ALiencodec trees do not fit. Even Rif said hes not going into competition.

FLE is a different thing tho, it is a better product then anything else out there, at least so far.

FLE is also very easy to use... :)

Thank you for all the good feedback, im having issues with export, that i will work out soon. but for now ill upload the current version with "load" and "save" working. so you can play with it. link comming in a few minutes.


I do not think aliencodec will hate me, in fact I am a big supporter of theirs. I have bought their products and recommend them to anyone who want realistics trees, grass, and Plantlife.

My efforts are mainly to have somthing I have the rights to pass around. not to compete with a product that has been fine tuned to perfection.

I included some sample trees to load, and a small help file that is a must read to know how to use it.

Very nice indeed.

I'd like to collaborate with you on the next project in this line of programs (assuming it continues after this) if I can. Anywho, we'll see about that when the time comes :)

for any reason that shot reminded me of operation flashpoint. the landscapes it had were amazing, including LOD and isles of a few kilometres to run over full of vegetation like the one you made.
btw, fantastic job, wish I knew how to make a leaf in code, LoL.
