Hi, all!

I'm just announcing the launch of my new website and my first batch of games. I was originally in the Dark Basic community but switched over to Blitz to launch this new venture. I remember being worried that it would take so long to learn this new language but (shock!) everything in Blitz makes so much sense and works just as advertised :) I couldn't be more thrilled with the experience!

Okay, the official marketing blurb starts here:

Mybrainplay.com is proud to announce the launch of their first round of quality, value-priced games for Windows PCs, available immediately from their website:

The Mybrainplay.com website launched on September 2, 2004 and finally gamers have a real choice when it comes to how much they pay for entertainment. Starting with 3 exclusive titles - “The Mighty Muddles”, “Ghost Manor” and “Marine Meanies” (coming Sept. 13) all games will be available for only $4.95 each! That’s less than 1/3 the price of most competitors’ products!

Games:

Ghost Manor
Ghost Manor is a fun take on the classic game of minesweeper with atmospheric graphics and sounds and the biggest play areas you will find anywhere! Once you've played Ghost Manor you may never go back to plain old minesweeper again!

The Mighty Muddles
The Mighty Muddles is a challenging yet relaxing game in which you must unscramble lines of quoted text that have been "muddled" up with random letters. It's easy to understand gameplay, relaxing music and fun graphics make this a great "coffee break" game to help you unwind from the stress of work or the home.

Enjoy! More games to come soon and I'm slowly working my way up to more advanced projects (including 3D) but I plan to always stick to the value price and hopefully the small file sizes no matter what game I develop.

Best regards and thanks to all you Blitzers for helping me get going with the language so quickly.

Hi Kyle, congratulations. That's pretty impressive for such a short stint with Blitz. How did you do it so fast (games, website, etc)? You're an example to us all! =)

Very sweet indeed!

Ooh, nice website! I'll have a play with the games later.

Looks like if you keep creating and keep advertising you could do ok :D

Thank you for the comments :)

It took me about 3 months to get Ghost Manor, Muddles and the website done and my next game, Marine Meanies, about 50% done. From the very beginning I wanted to be able to pump out games quickly so I'm sharing a lot of the non-game related code (GUI, initialization, etc.) between each title. It's about as close to a game "assembly line" as I could get.

Things would go even faster if I could get myself to use more 3rd party tools and libs but something in me wants to know exactly what each tool is doing code-wise and therefore I have to write them myself.

Like I said, Blitz was much easier to pick up than I thought it would be. I think having a project (and a deadline) in mind from the start and staying well within my design/programming abilities helped a lot.

Thanks again!
