I started working on a wipeout type clone but quickly ran into problems because I didn't have any good tools to draw tracks.

Searching on the web didn't yield results so I was forced to code my own.

It's taken rather longer then I had hoped but have learnt a lot about Blitz and how to contruct meshes etc... and i've had a lot of help from the forum members. Thanks. You know who you are :)

This is still early but it's at a stage where I can start showing it off.

Looks pretty cool :)

Is it always flat?

Dreamora(Posted 2004) [#5]
i think therefor he has the "load heightmap" button once it is implemented :)

Looks good and useful. Is there any way to break the tracks up into separate meshes, to avoid having to send the entire track to be rendered every time?

sweet tool

Looks good, I assume you're going to have a lot more in the way of UV mapping though otherwise you'll be using 1000s of surfaces or have a very very samey track.

I'm watching this with interest, as i'm writting a race game (http://curvedbasic.dbspot.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=218).

I hope it will support a more realistic style of race track with grass / gravel traps etc. ? :)

Plan is to have auto bank curves and adjust the hieghts of tracks etc...

I loved wipeout, so I hope you manage to finish this game. Nice job on the editor :)

We (@ Pantson) started a project like this maybe 2 years ago. Still need to finish it. trying different modelling systems at the mo to try and complete the game.
details are here http://www.pantson.com/games_detail.php?id=3&screen=%25

The editor looks like ours, but yours look a lot more colourful :-)
Hope you finish your project. The more WipeOut "clones " the better.

Good luck....
