Cute. Nice cool. I like the color scheme and all of the toothy things. :)

JAW(Posted 2004) [#3]
Looks great man. I like the look of the sprites and the background (especially the spikey guys and the door). It has a nice cohesive style.

electronin(Posted 2004) [#4]
Looks very cool! I like the background.

puki(Posted 2004) [#5]
Yep, looks nice - I like the way the background is sort of out of focus - just the important stuff appears to have focus.

I like the worm things. What would make your game interesting is if you could play any of the 'creatures' - coz I would pick the worm thing rather than the green thing.

Weedy Worm is what I would call him.

electronin(Posted 2004) [#6]
The little turtle things are kind of cool-looking too :)

Warren(Posted 2004) [#7]
Looks great! Always nice to work with a real graphics guy. :)

skn3(Posted 2004) [#8]
nice graphics :)

gellyware(Posted 2004) [#9]
Hi, I think the platform gfx would benefit from having more contrast. I agree the background is nice as others have said, but your foreground platform elements look de-saturated and are not very vibrant.

Shambler(Posted 2004) [#10]
Yes, I like that alot =)

Ruz(Posted 2004) [#11]
it would be nice if the platforms had some overhanging grass on them as a colour contrast. most of the colours seem warm.
But still looking nice

gellyware(Posted 2004) [#12]
Here is a quick adjustment I made, This is what I was talking about....

Very nice Coffeedotbean :)
When can we expect a demo?

Caff(Posted 2004) [#14]
Looks good, I agree with Ruz, chuck some grass / plant type things on some of the plaforms to give it variation.

ashmantle(Posted 2004) [#15]
yeah some plants would rule..

but Im in awe already because the style is just AWESOME!

coffeedotbean(Posted 2004) [#16]
Thanks for the replys peeps.

Im sure Remy will love all these comments.

to answer a few qustions.

Not in this game ;)

Hi, I think the platform gfx would benefit from having more contrast

We'll look at that after the Demo.

When can we expect a demo?

In a week or two.

it would be nice if the platforms had some overhanging grass on them as a colour contrast

It will look more colourful when we add the HUD and the fruit/jewles/keys pickups.

Ross C(Posted 2004) [#17]
Looks lovely :) Good to see the 2d stuff is still coming along strongly :D

skn3(Posted 2004) [#18]
I disagree, the graphics look great as they are. Don't change them.

Ruz(Posted 2004) [#19]
hmm still think you need some greens in to balance out.it looks a little unfinished as it is, but as I say its still very good.
characters are smashing

Perturbatio(Posted 2004) [#20]
Need a beta tester? :)

coffeedotbean(Posted 2004) [#21]

Yeah Remy thinks so aswell hes working on a few more tiles.

Need a beta tester? :)

Ha! I'd rather not have 50 bugs to fix just yet ;)

Perturbatio(Posted 2004) [#22]

That's a good thing isn't it? :)

Is this done with your 2D in 3D code?

Jeppe Nielsen(Posted 2004) [#23]
Looks nice, I like the cartoony creatures :)

jhocking(Posted 2004) [#24]
I don't like Charles' approach, but I do agree with him that you need to do something to make the platforms stand out more. Right now they kind of blend into the background. I'm thinking they should mostly stay the same but outline them with dark pixels to clearly establish the edges.

sswift(Posted 2004) [#25]
I think the shading on the platforms looks yelloish/greenwish whereas on the background and door it's kind of bluish, and that looks a little weird and reduces the contrast on the platforms.

Oh and the shells are a total ripoff of Mario. :-)
