The woman shaking hands with the muscle man?

...I dunno. My crappy modem blew up trying to DL all those pics, anyway! :/

Michael Reitzenstein(Posted 2004) [#4]
Bob control functions? :)

Caff(Posted 2004) [#5]
A poo?

sswift(Posted 2004) [#6]
Michael...

big10p(Posted 2004) [#7]
Michael Winner is coming??? What, are you on crack??? lol

Knotz(Posted 2004) [#8]
Ok, i'm dumb.....what's Bob?

sswift(Posted 2004) [#9]
The more pertinent question is, what's A bob?

napole0n(Posted 2004) [#10]
Revenge of the Nerds: The Game?

maverick(Posted 2004) [#11]
are you refering to image controlor sprites ?
The PC doesn`t have BOb`s :-P

BOb`s on the amiga were Blitter OBjects ,, the pc don`t have a fat agnus

Ross C(Posted 2004) [#12]
Is it Smash TV?

puki(Posted 2004) [#13]
'Smash TV' - "Ross" you know nothing.

I know what it is - Blitter object stuff.

I've won a prize!!!

Woof-it up

sswift(Posted 2004) [#14]
Puki:
you're too late, Michael already answered correctly. :-)

But you are correct, BOB stands for Blitter Object.

Sure, the PC doesn't have the hardware the Amiga had, but that doesn't matter. I needed a term other than "sprite" so that people won't confuse them with Blitz3D's billboard sprites. And I figured the Amiga fans would appreciate the homage. :-)

SwiftBOBS (Swift Blitter Object System) will be arriving shortly. It's nearly complete, and will be finished sometime today.

SwiftBOBS is a system for drawing 2D sprites, hereafter referred to as BOBS. You can create BOBS, move them around, and change their draw order all with standard Blitz-like commands. In addition, you can change their color, alpha, and blending mode. And, they support both masking and alpha maps.

Obviously blending comes as a speed hit, but the system has one optimized function for each type of blit to make it as fast as possible, and blitting a normal masked image with no special effects runs at the same speed as any normal image blitting command.

I'll be posting a full run down of all 22 commands after I finish the system and make a demo.

Ross C(Posted 2004) [#15]
Sounds like a plan :) Cool!

Rob Farley(Posted 2004) [#16]
I'm assuming all the pictures are of people called Bob?

I don't recognise any of them.

sswift(Posted 2004) [#17]
You're not supposed to recognize them. You're supposed to use your powers of deduction to notice that all the filenames say BOB. :-)

I just picked the funniest pictures that came up when I did a search for BOB on Google image search.

Btw, the second guy down is Bob Lazarus. I'm pretty sure he's a guy who claims to have worked for the government at Area-51 on alien ships. And the government has denied that he was ever in the military at all.

Rob Farley(Posted 2004) [#18]
Righty Ho. You're stranger than I first thought Mr Swift.

BlitzSupport(Posted 2004) [#19]
Bob Lazar... he's fulla shirt.

sswift(Posted 2004) [#20]
"Righty Ho. You're stranger than I first thought Mr Swift."

I'm stranger than you thought second too. :-)

sswift(Posted 2004) [#21]
"Bob Lazar... he's fulla shirt."

And his alien conspiracy theories are pants!

skn3(Posted 2004) [#22]
No offense, but is this just a 1 tris (2 tris ?) particle / sprite system; with a clever name ;P ?

Or is it a clever 2d lib :) ?

GfK(Posted 2004) [#23]
SwiftBob?

Half-cousin of Sideshow Bob?

(tu) sinu(Posted 2004) [#24]
sounds like a clever 2d lib eg sprites in 2d?

sswift(Posted 2004) [#25]
It's 2d. It will work with Blitz, Blitz3D, and BlitzPlus.

Zster(Posted 2004) [#26]
A de-interlacer?

Red Ocktober(Posted 2004) [#27]
HIDALGO!!!

--Mike

Agamer(Posted 2004) [#28]
Huuu HIDALGO???

Ok thas to much that

puki(Posted 2004) [#29]
Hey wait a minute "Michael Reitzenstein" said 'Bob control functions? :)' - surely that is a calculated guess of 'Bob' + something computer related - plus he uses a question mark - he clearly took a shot in the dark.

My 'Blitter object stuff.' surely claims the prize (ignoring "maverick" who could have edited his post).

Please mail me my free puppy - perhaps a German shepherd puppy.

sswift(Posted 2004) [#30]
Tell you what puki. If you agree to look at the code and post your opinion of it in the main thread for it, I'll give ya a free copy. :-)

And I did confirm with Michael what he meant by BOB in a private message.

puki(Posted 2004) [#31]
Okay "sswifty-sausage". Although, a free copy would be cheating other Blitzers - so I'll take the puppy instead - thanks "swwifty".

sswift(Posted 2004) [#32]
Here you go Puki... one german shepherd puppy, vaccum sealed for freshness, delivered next-day air via FedEx.

Had a heck of a time getting him in the box, but I managed... Though I had to sit on it to keep the flaps closed while I stapled it shut...

puki(Posted 2004) [#33]
Excellent!!! - he looks cute - "sswift" is the man - move over "Mark Sibly" (loser). If I carefully remove the bag thing then I can keep it for days when I take him out in the rain. Just need to make sure he doesn't savage my squeeky-bone.

In fact, I'll call him "sswifty" - "Zork" can keep his puppy, mine is better.
