Tennis Ace (11th and final Blitz game) finished

Community Forums/Showcase/Tennis Ace (11th and final Blitz game) finished

After nearly four months(!) its finally finished with 4 days still to go before deadline day. :)

When I finished powerboats, I said it was the longest code I'd written in a single game. This one's beaten it by miles. Finished up at 227k of sourcecode (Powerboats was 138k!).

No time to grab new screenshots - its nearly 4am. I've just finished adding the umpire commentary etc, plus some 'hilarious' out-takes which are played randomly during pause mode. :)

Tried to shine this one up really good, what with it being my final Blitz effort and everything. *very* happy with it.

Off to sleep now, but first, here's a screenshot I took last week.

Features:
* 32 players each with their own skills/attributes
* Five surface types with individual friction properties
* Five stadiums
* Practice mode with ball-launcher thingy
* Single match mode for 1 or 2 players
* Career mode - play through eight tournaments per season
* Qualifiers, Quarter finals, Semi finals, Final...
* Three shadow modes (simple, dynamic-transparent, dynamic-opaque)
* Potatohead Mode - Normal, big heads, shrunken heads
* Load/save upto 10 separate game positions at once
* 3D User Interface
* Keyboard/gamepad support
* 6-key control system
* Re-definable keys
* Animated & talking umpire
* TV-style camera views
* World ranking system
* Player attributes increase with higher world ranking
* ....more!

Holy cow! GFK, you are the man! 11 games and this one's looking very tight. I hope it plays well (I'm sure it will for me judging by our similar consensus of a certain other tennis game). I look forward to playing it.

So, um, is there a demo out anywhere? Or do we have to wait till it's officially released?

btw, the grass looks cool, so does the blue type surface ;) Top stuff, and can't wait to play it!

Are there any with a guy getting twatted in the nackers with the ball? :)

Aww nooooo, GFK, why are you leaving Blitz behind ?

Caff(Posted 2004) [#10]
Looks really good Gfk, don't give up writing games you've obviously got talent at this sort of thing.

Imphenzia(Posted 2004) [#11]
I am also curious to find out why it's your last project?

...but if it's anything like me with playing Battlefield 1942 or Live For Speed, we need not to worry! (I always say - this will be the last round, then I'm off - but I always keep playing =)

Looks great by the way!

As of 20 minutes ago, there is a demo version. But, apart from testing it out on a few 'select' people, I can't release it myself.

I've sent it to Idigicon just now - feel free to pester them to release it. :)

I covered this in another thread. But basically, couldn't get a new contract from Idigicon. Likely a good thing, as its given me an opportunity to call it a day with Blitz and move onto other stuff - namely C# for apps, and planning to learn Java and/or look at the mobile gaming market later.

Finished up at 227k of sourcecode

Ugh, that sounds nice actually!!

I am counting 618kb of sourcecode for CTCC so far _not_ counting 3rd party implementations (BlitzPlay and BlitzUI for editors)

I think I've got another 200kb to go before it's finished.

Unfortunately I have probably thrown 200kb away already due to rewriting the car editor and the circuit editor... however, I am tempted to redo the circuit editor AGAIN using BlitzUI this time (did that editor before I knew it existed =)

Do you have a site with all your projects Gfk?

Do you have a site with all your projects Gfk?
Yeah, but its closing down permanently tomorrow.

Looks real neat.

Shame you're taking down the site, even if binaryzoo is all finished.

I don't see that there's much use for it. All that's on there, is the stuff that I've sold the IP for. I don't give a damn whether people know about it or not (aside from the fact that marketing that stuff is no concern of mine).
