I'd like to get some input on the minimalist GUI, I am currently using...

3D:

2D:

A number of windows which can be moved, minimized to tray, resized and closed... You can choose 6 different resolutions, but right now only 800x600 and upwards are really useful.

It's basic 2D on 3D, so I am interested in what kind of problems you are having.

What kind of FPS do you get?
Are there any display problems?
Is it too minimal or should I use solid title and buttons(more Windows like)?

EDIT: Which graphicscard do you use?

EDIT\2: This thread was originally posted in 'game design', but noone replied, so I am trying my luck here.

- over 200 fps, but moving/resizing windows seemed a bit jerky.
- nope
- I think the see thru titlebar and buttons gives a nice effect, but I think it will impede on the 3d view too much.

On a crapy ATI Rage I got 120FPS

Are there any display problems?

One of the windows started out as all black until I re-sized it. The tilebar text didn't vertically center properly on big windows.

Looks fine to me at high rez, but at low rez it looked clunky.

superqix,

Could you please try the simple2D as well... It is purely 2D and should boost your FPS 2-3 times.

What do you mean by
>The tilebar text didn't vertically center properly on big
>windows

As I understand it, you are saying that the titlebar text is not centeret in the up/down directions when you resize the window to occupy the entire screen!? Is it at high res or at 800x600 as well?

What is your general experience with B3D on your rage card, both concerning 2D and 3D?

Fullernator,

>over 200 fps, but moving/resizing windows seemed a bit
>jerky.

Please try the simple2D version as well... Is that also jerky?

Thanks,

Andy

Simple2d

500fps+
Athlon 1.6Gig XP, 512 Ram, Geforce 4Ti GFX.

1 issue i didn't like, if I clicked and held the mouse down on one of the window gadgets, then moved the mouse off the gadget and released the mouse the gadget would still carry out its action.

the fps reaches almost 500 in the 2d demo and appears to be smoother.
