Nice work! Love your art style too!

Beaker(Posted 2003) [#3]
I use a front-end for UPX already and the thing that annoys the hell out of me is that it always uses its own folder as the starting point, rather than somewhere sensible or definable.

I would switch to yours given that little feature.

great!

darklordz(Posted 2003) [#5]
What one might call features:
- UPX Itself is not needed.
- Upon Packing a file it's compiled in the same dir as that file.
- Upon Decompressing a file it to is decompressed in the dir of that file.
- Support For Basic Packing Operations
- Option to create file Backups..
- Can be used from any location...
- CUTS THE SIZE OF BLITZ EXECUTABLES IN HALF!
Negative:
- Since my program actualy shells the the UPX it cannot retreive the UPX Output. Yhis can be done with api but i haven't got a clue...
- Since no output is received from the UPX, it's pointless to add features like (-q or -qq or -qqq) because it's run in hidden mode anyway...and so on...

having stated the above i wounder if there are any suggestions for improvement...

- BF: The filename would also be shortened....
- BF: The Compression gets screwed...
- BF: It didn't delete tmp files outside it's own dir...
- BF: Didn't Support Long Filenames...
- NF: Added System menu's...
- Copy CRC Fingerprint
- Copy MD5 FingerPrint
- About...

(BF = BUGFIX | NF = NEW FEATURES)

I realy need beta testing...plz folks...

Grisu(Posted 2003) [#8]
will give it a try! :)

Although I usually prefer my "upx.bat" doing this kind of stuff! ;)

darklordz(Posted 2003) [#9]
Thanks Gris, im sure you'll find it to your liking, im rewriting it cause it a bit messy code and i've got some features in mind, but after using it lemme know if you have any sugestions cause right now all i got is

Great, Nice Work, And i'll give it a Try....

Grisu(Posted 2003) [#10]
Sure.

Pre: Delete this darklordz.exe (144kb), at least in beta stage (many people still have a modem at home!)

1. The text is not! displayed correctly in the gadgets sometimes (i.e. cut off at borders).
2. the last used option(s) should be saved and loaded next time your program starts
3. Make an option to turn pc speaker "off"
4. It did not work! Compression nor Decompression????
-> only created a backup, but no new exe....
5. It should detect if an exe is already compressed by itself and automatically select decompression and disable compression option.
6. additional feature request:
add icon to exe and upx afterwards (optional)

Hope this helps.

Grisu could you tell me the name of the exefile and directory structure so that i might reproduce this error....
The darklordz.exe doesnt realy do anything but verify the included nfo and UPX shell using md5 and crc checks. This will prevent ppl that download files from me getting false files.... And i just wanted to show off :P Th ebeep u heard is caused by a crc error. upon opening a file it read ur crc, if it fails it beeps, i'll try and fix this.

Ow and upon compression completion it shows you a message box "Operation Complete!" If you compressed best it might take a while....

Grisu(Posted 2003) [#12]
hmm? So you have tracked the bugs?

Grisu(Posted 2003) [#13]
Looks promising... but I have to test it first! :)
