Short, no sound, very low quality video of the AI I've been working on improving. Here we have an lone aggressive Tank, a chasing team of Panda's and other vehicles avoiding both.

Thumbs up from me.

I really like the graphical look.

Flat shaded polygons really give that retro feel and your model designs are really imaginative and artistic too.

I love those police cars.

These model designs would lend themselves really well to other types of games as well.

I can't really tell from the video how well your AI is working but there seems to be a lot of action going on.

I'm sure i echo the community by encouraging you to continue development.

I hope to see it finished at some point.

:)

Awesome! Is the Knight Rider car still in?

Before anyone else asks: Will there be a demo? :)

Steve Elliott(Posted 2017) [#4]
Cool stuff, the hovercraft is my fave vehicle so far - soo fast and nimble!

Stevie G(Posted 2017) [#5]
@ Grisu, it is indeed.

There are a couple more that have Nitro rather that rocket boosters, the Dodge and Hotrod - hit the Nitro when the throttle is on and you get a 25% acceleration boost :)

I really dig the low-poly look, kind of like Virtua Racing stylee.

Looks like it will be a fun game too.

Steve Elliott(Posted 2017) [#7]
Right on both counts! Buy this game guys.

Really?! I'm surprised. It does handle well on water and land right enough - lots of drifting and oversteer.

Steve Elliott(Posted 2017) [#9]
Talking more from a point of view of attacking lol - challenging! Which is good!

Just a thought: using real car makes/models may not be advisable, not all manufacturers are OK with that. If your game gets on someone radar that can lead to cease & desists.
In many of the AAA games, names are licensed from the manufacturers.

(Of course you can easily tweak things a little, like using 'Dodger' instead of 'Dodge', etc.)

I thought I'd be ok with Dodge but you probably have a point. Dodger sounds just as good I think. Thanks.

I'm liking what I see. ;)

I like the art style and the car look happy doing their lives!

Grisu(Posted 2017) [#14]
Art looks as cute as always.
How many different cars / vehicles do you have in there?
Is there some kind of low poly editor to add more? Might do a beettle car. :)

Stevie G(Posted 2017) [#15]
There are 28 vehicles, 24 which can be controlled.

There is already a sort of beetle ... the Baja Bug ..

It takes me about a day to hand model a new vehicle and tweek the physics properties. There will be no editor.

I love the User Interface, graphics, style and gameplay - really good fun ;)

Just a quick update.

I recently added pickups, powerups - was a bit of feature creep but really adds to the mayhem. All are physics objects.

Powerups Shield + Random

Powerup Damage + Powerdown

Pickups - Coin

Also added a new level, copland ...

Donut Shop

Copshop + New VIP model :)

Copshot at night + Cake Pickup

Copshop with full carpark .. one of the challenges.

I'm off next week so plan to spend the time finishing off my to-do list which is pretty much adding some new challenges - currently 45 out of 60 completed. Ordering and balancing the challenges and the unlocking mechanism.

Cheers
Stevie

This is great! I love it!

Grisu(Posted March) [#19]
Awwwwww. Cute!

Do you have a fire station and a hospital too? :)

Blitzplotter(Posted March) [#20]
Love the VIP model ;)

Stevie G(Posted March) [#21]
@ BP, he also flaps his gums and waves his arms around.

There won't be fire station or hospital - I hope to have post release levels and challenges though so will definately consider them in the future.

There is an Army base though :)

A few more vehicles I don't think I've shown anyone ..

The Duke's special is a handbrake so can turn on a dime or you can use it to drift around, difficult to master. My take on the General Lee but with a Saltire on the roof :)

The Hogg is similar to the Panda but with better handling.

The Falcon is pretty much my take on Mad Max's V8 Interceptor with spikes that appear when you hit the ramming boost.

Grisu(Posted March) [#22]
Army base is good enough for me. :)

How close/far is your release?

BlitzSupport(Posted March) [#23]

Based on anyone in particular? He reminds me of someone, just can't quite place him...

COUGH

Blitzplotter(Posted March) [#24]
A General Lee with a saltire, nice twist ;)
