Hi,

I will not persue this any further, as First Star are, let's say, fanatical, about Boulderdash but I thought I would upload it as it is and maybe someone will have fun with it, editing levels or whatever. Creating levels is simple, modify the levels in the media sub folder. I especially like to play around with amoebas :)

download: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12644619/test/bdfun.zip

I will upload the source code of this demo to github after posting this.

Have fun!

PS: I will use this map format for a different game altogether. So expect the same feel (moving and scrolling wise), but totally different gameplay.

Ahhh, cute :-)

Wiebo(Posted 2014) [#3]
OK, the code is up here for those interested: https://github.com/wiebow/boulderdash.game2d

Wiebo(Posted 2014) [#4]
Yes, Rockford is and will remain cute. :)

Steve Elliott(Posted 2014) [#5]
Aw shame...Can't you change the graphics a little and complete a similar game?

Wiebo(Posted 2014) [#6]
I could, but I have currently no idea how to make it different and fresh. BD as a game concept is close to perfect.

Derron(Posted 2014) [#7]
@Steve
It is available on github so I assume you are free to take it for refining graphics.

Eg you could add multiplayer - you just have to think about ingameparts needing such a multiplayer (some puzzles to solve - simultaneous stone movement etc.). But then you surely will end with a kind of sokoban clone :p.

bye

Harassment Dash sounds like a nice multiplayer name :)

Haha! I wrote a monkey version based on that same code!

Wiebo(Posted 2014) [#10]
Yes, it translates well! I translated it to monkey and now back to max, eheh.

my monkey version is here: http://members.home.nl/wdw/monkey/bdtest/MonkeyGame.html

Panno(Posted 2014) [#11]
wohoo !

it runs also on an ipad but without keys.

are monkey able to get some inputs from a tablet.

Pingus(Posted 2014) [#12]
Hey, it works fine on Chrome on a Android tablet. With touch control to move the character it could be playable !

Wiebo(Posted 2014) [#13]
The android version has touch controls, which sucks btw. This is just the html5 version guys.

Split screen coop boulder dash would have been awesome!

Wiebo(Posted 2014) [#15]
Or each player starting on the opposite sides of a cave. and there is only one exit. :) so a kind of race. That could be fun.

Panno(Posted 2014) [#16]
i like the game on may atari.
the Splitscreen idea is fantastic.
