Hi everyone,

Recently, I've created
a new logo for
this game:

Candy's Space Adventures: The Messages of the Lillians new Logo.

This game is a Space/Adventures game made by Xilvan Design.
We use Perlin Noise for aleatory terrains and we may
explore 1753 different planets.

Explore a deep universe composed of 17 galaxies, 170 solar systems
and 1700 new planets. Take the spaceship to explore them.
Blast Asteroids, evil ufos, chase comets to save
Candy's Space Adventures.

There is tons of bonus & challenges,
the graphics are enhenced
and more detailed.

Maybe i will use the same
engine for my new games.
I'm working on new
games presently.

I'll keep working on new games
soon! I may need some more
ideas to continue.

The new upcoming project
are in preparation
in my studio.

It is callen:

Candy's Space
Mysteries:

Missions on the
Blue Planet.

"Let's Keep working
on new games."

Xilvan(Posted 2013) [#5]
I'm trying to find a new name for
Noopy, it looks like is
already taken.

Maybe Tricket !

Candy may also change her
name for a secret
mission.

Doggie(Posted 2013) [#6]
A "secret" mission....lol
Seriously though, 1700 different planets I can visit?
Awesome.

Seriously though, 1700 different planets I can visit?

One for each released version.

feeble1(Posted 2013) [#8]
My dogs' are named Lilly and Noodle. ;)

Also, keep up the good work. I'm still not quite sure what your games are about, but you're very productive!

Gabriel(Posted 2013) [#9]
I'm trying so hard not to ask if the secret mission involves her sniffing Uranus, but I just don't have the self control.

I tried to download it, but either your website is not responding or there are some issues along the route.

Xilvan(Posted 2013) [#11]
Hi everyone,

I've just published version 1.87 of this
game callen Candy's Space Adventures:
The Messages of the Lillians
.

I've adjusted a portion of code which was
teleporting to player and his animal
friend to a distant star or
the central sun.

It is finally released on cnet.download.com,
softpedia.com has received more than 400
downloads yet on both websites.

I'm presently working on a
new version full of hope
for Xilvan Design.

I may continue creating this game until version 3.01 or more... Candy
Racing Cup will come back with more features. Lights of Dreams III
is presently at version 0.97 and is set at English default.

When I say "keep working on games !" I try to
encourage everyone who are creating games.

Maybe I'll come back with tutorials for many
of newbies and more Advanced blitzeans,
especially for Xilvan Design spritelib.

Xilvan(Posted 2013) [#12]
I'm presently working on future version of this
game: I must unlock ufos and debug
the asteroids.

Edit:
We can now see ufos everywhere in the
Lillians Universe and I fixed
the Asteroids.

I'm presently working on new versions of my games, the website are
opened to visitors and I fixed everything you need for download !

See you next time !

Banshee(Posted 2013) [#13]
Man I don't know how you code with all those narcotics running through your system - but that video is beyond epic. Quite possibly the most surreal experience I've ever witness on a You Tube video, but definitely epic. :D

Xilvan(Posted 2013) [#14]
Hi everyone,

I'm still working
on this game.

Candy in Space had nine versions:
-one for Candy to the Space I.

-one for Candy in Space II.

-seven for Candy in Space III
(officially divided in two parts).

I loved so much this game that I decided to create a sequel callen
Candy in Space IV, which turned out to Candy's Space Adventures.

Since today, A version 2.27 is available,
I will connect it on my page. I still have
to check for the suns transition
between planets.

Maybe I'll add more A.I. for
flying saucer( Ufos ).

This game will be free and is
for everyone out there.

Friendly,

TeaBoy(Posted 2013) [#15]
Certainly can't fault Xylvan's dedication.

This sort of motivation and dedication puts most of us to shame.

:)

Xilvan(Posted 2013) [#16]
Hi everyone,

I'm at version 2.55 of this game.

I verified everything in the game.
I even created a new logo.
(see above)

I removed some of the lights I used in the game. Today,
I'll add artificial sattelites and comets, I will
also fix the wormholes. I reedited the the
dogs' textures and remodeled
the spaceship.

Now, the installer's exe
takes only 40.0 MB.

Hi everyone,

Sorry for double post, but it has been a
long time since I published in that topic.

The Version 3.17 will be available soon in my website that I'm presently
enhencing the website for better look and use. I'm finally
done with comets and satellites displaying.

I prepared a new version for
Lights of Dreams III. It
will be version 1.01.

It is available now on my website:

P.S. Please comment !
I normally wouldn't but since you insist...

I don't get it. I feel like I'm on a bad trip.

What's with the rocks falling out of the sky every 15 seconds? (eg; 3:01)

Why does the dog sweep grass away by spinning around in circles? (3:10)

Why are the flowers floating four feet off the ground? (3:36)

The day/night "transition" at 4:53 is laughable.

Why/how is a dog flying a spaceship?

I'm all for people being enthusiastic about programming, but I just cannot make sense of where you're trying to go with this.

I'm off to find my Sergeant Pepper CD...

GaryV(Posted 2014) [#20]
What's with the rocks falling out of the sky every 15 seconds? (eg; 3:01)
Asteroids/meteors/meteorites?

Why does the dog sweep grass away by spinning around in circles? (3:10)
If doing it while sitting, it could be expressing its anal glands.

Why are the flowers floating four feet off the ground? (3:36)
These are special breed of anti-gravity air flowers.

Why/how is a dog flying a spaceship?
Dogs were in space, before men.

Xilvan(Posted 2014) [#21]
Answers to the questions of GaryV:

1) What's with the rocks falling out of the sky every 15 seconds? (eg; 3:01)

- météorites coming from Space.

2) Why does the dog sweep grass away by spinning around in circles? (3:10)

- It illustrate spiral flower growing.

3) Why are the flowers floating four feet off the ground? (3:36)

- I Don't know, maybe its because of the size of the flower,
who are tree times the size of little flowers.

4) Why/how is a dog flying a spaceship?

- It's only a game with a special scenario!

Dogs were in space, before men.

GfK(Posted 2014) [#22]
météorites coming from Space
Yes, I realise that. But what I meant was, why do you force the player to watch it every time?

Derron(Posted 2014) [#23]
Yes, I realise that. But what I meant was, why do you force the player to watch it every time?

Wouldn't you stare towards heaven if meteorites are falling down? :D

Honestly: show it ONCE to the player, each further meteorite/asteroid could be presented on your skybox/skysphere with a blinking circle or so (so people recognize : ok, object in that direction).

Overall: presentation style seems stucked for years: improve that please.

bye
Ron

As you asked for comment, mine would be:
"what's new?"
Nothing seems to have changed in years, but you're always trumpeting the latest release.

Xilvan(Posted 2014) [#25]
Hi everyone,

Maybe I'll add Multiple opposants or Friends Mode.

Add more animals enhencing planets, with us, among the ones
we had found in cages. Maybe they have SpaceShip
to discover new lands.

All those ideas poured together will
give the game a 5.01th version.

Taron(Posted 2014) [#27]
I've always stayed out of any of these candy threads, because- frankly- I didn't want to be unkind and had nothing kind to say about them...ever. But now I have punished myself to watch this youtube clip, mesmerized by the dreafulness of it all the way through, as though it was 1980 again and people just figured out that computers can draw polygons and make noise. I already feel catastrophically bad about writing here, but I see how people start poking the dead horse- or dog in this case- and I figure it's better to just be completely honest and get it over with:

Xylvan, if you happen to be 12 years old, I'd like to congratulate you on your first experiments and foresee great things for you in the future.

If you're over 50 years old, I salute your courage and stamina to dabble in the world of computer games, which appears to be so dramatically far our of your comfort zone, but you're dong a great job.

If you're anywhere in between those ages...but have a diagnosed condition of some sort, forgive me for coming on so strong. If you're generally in good health and have no other pathological damages, I'd really suggest to have some higher aspirations, consult with a decently experienced programmer and designer and make smaller steps to improve the fundamentals of your "engine"!
Don't just run with a dreadful execution, trying to stomp some ideas into them and then fish for patronization here! It's not good for you, really, it isn't.

Here is what I would sincerely suggest to you:

1. Scrap everything!

2. Make a little movement "sandbox", where you try to have the dog move one the ground as if the paws would stick to it. Try to make it as realistic as possible when it turns and walks about. It's a matter of taste, but I think the dog could be cute, if it was at least moving someone decently. Consider gravity, level (balance) and so on...consider inverse kinematic for the legs!

3. figure out nice camera accompaniment, how to control camera behavior and blend camera animation based on queues, for examples.

4. work on shading. Try to figure out how to setup nice lighting, cast proper shadows and so on.

5. general look. Figure out shading methods for post processing to make it visually more compelling with little effort, for example.

6. interface design. If you can't have any elegant ideas, try to look at other interfaces and let them inspire you. Consider key elements of your main character, or where it would live, to embellish or even just design the interface.

Once you have a decent step 2 up and running, worthy of sharing, you could then make a post to present it, for example. That could potentially be interesting for other people to see and you can expect more direct feedback. Attach a download, so people can try walking around with the dog, no environment, just a bumpy ground plane, possibly with humps or even hills and valleys to walk through, just so show that it acts properly in more complex scenarios.

Upshot, if something is so incredibly simplistic, the few things that are there should really shine. Thus far this all looks like some silly sketch to demonstrate some weird idea for a very, very tight circle of close friends and not really the general public.

Now, I know, I am a complete bastard for writing all this and I'm sure I'll get some sort of a beating for it, but I just wanted to finally tell you the truth from a perspective of a bystander like I am. I don't know any of the background about you personally or the game or any of this. And that really does not matter either.
I think a person with your uncanny stamina has fantastic potential to pull of crazy games, especially if you had some help. Be it to take over certain parts of the production or simply to support your own growth as a programmer and designer. You should hold your head up high, keep enjoying to do all this, because you must have great pleasure in doing it, but strive for greatness and not feedback or what ever the reasons may be for you sharing all this so prominently.
You can do it, you are deeply creative and have a unique boldness about you. Let it be worth more, because it can be!

MadJack(Posted 2014) [#28]
You know, I'd really like to know Xylvan's story.

At this point, it's like the most epic piece of performance art ever.

As an example of Xylvan's genius I give you;
4) Why/how is a dog flying a spaceship?
- It's only a game with a special scenario!
Dogs were in space, before men.

Take that you doubters! (Especially you GFK - this is obviously a link to the theories of Velikovsky and possibly a reference to Madame Blavatsky. It wouldn't surprise me if X is a Theosophist with strong Masonic ties!)

Furthermore, I am convinced years from now, when B3d is absolutely defunct and all the conforming asteroid clones/tank games/platformers are dead 1's and 0's, Xylvan's productions will be celebrated as Outsider Art.

Bravo Xylvan and long may you continue in your quest!

Woof!

Not while I'm here, you won't. I'm public enemy number 1, me. I'm the *only* public enemy, insofar as the resident forum "turd-flinger's society" are concerned.

So you're quite safe.

When does performance art on a forum become spam/trolling? I think Xilvan crossed the line aeons ago.

Xylvan, if you happen to be 12 years old, I'd like to congratulate you on your first experiments and foresee great things for you in the future.
Try again- he's in his 30s.

FBEpyon(Posted 2014) [#32]
I feel bad for Xylan he makes a good attempt to make a working product and my only concern is at this point and time it seems that he is just making it worse.

I have given him my suggestions and so as many of you, but no matter how many times we can say something about his project he seems to keep making the same thing. I haven't seen any improvements to the engine (same dogs, same sounds, and the dark graphics hurt my eyes), and I'm not saying that the concept is horrible by any means, but you can't have a dark sky and sun that looks like its about to go dead at anytime.

Here is my list:

Models - poly count is to high killing the rendering pipeline. If you want that kind of detail use the extension your using and add some kind of mapping.

Graphics - Work on lowering the details try to make them more color by changing the contrast or hue. The bloom is over used and in the wrong spots it seems like it being over used. Like someone else said comet should only been seen once it being over used, use something that notifies the player that is happening like a screen marker around edges of were its located.

Sound - It makes me want to blow up my turtle beaches when i hear them, or it sounds like a bad puppy farm. (I know that is harsh).

I only say these things out of respect for your project and the abilities you have. I have seen a lot of your work over the years, and given you multiple pointers on were you can improve your gameplay and design. Listen to what people are trying to say it may be hurtful at times, but its said in order to improve your skills.

regards,

FBEpypn

Hi everyone,

I'm 32 years old.

Reponse to FBEpyon:

Models
The polycount of each characters were 1500, but
8650. I'll reduce the amount of polygons.

Graphics
I reduced everything.

Sound

Recently, I finished version 3.37.

The game were sold 7.50 but it was
some sort of April Fools day.

My dogs were barfing in the

1986-2001 ( for Candy ).

2001-2013 ( for Noopy ).

R.I.P. Candy and Noopy !

Hi everyone,

Since last week, Hundreds of downloads
occured for Xilvan Design games.

I'm presently aiming for more ideas.

The first idea I'll expose is to
freed animals and people and
make them esolve a part
of the game.

The more you save Cats and
Dogs, the more you
will freed them.

Their Spaceship will be the
same than Candy, or
different.

Maybe it will become a playable
multiplayer online game.

News soon !

Hi everyone,

Firstly, sorry for double post, Now I continue to progress and i'm
at version 4.85. A partial version is done with more power.

Secondly, in the new version, 17 Galaxies are now
freely available in the game. But I've found
every bugs related to planet loading.

In conclusion, the trial version is done with more powers:
32 galaxies to explore is alot of way
to play in the demo.

Friendly,

GaryV(Posted 2014) [#46]
The more you save Cats and
Dogs, the more you
will freed them.

If the goal is to save them and then free them, wouldn't it be simpler just to not save them, hence no need to free them? I am not sure I understand the objective. Is seems by doing nothing you could score more points.

In ecommerce version, 32 Galaxies are
now freely available in the game.

How can they be freely available if they are in a version that costs money?

I still love your graphics. They have a Tim Burton meets Picaso meets Dali feel to them.

Xilvan(Posted 2014) [#47]
