I've been working on a remake of an old Amstrad CPC classic, Mutant Monty. Still not a complete game, far from it, but surely getting there!.

Update: Added movement to the baddies.

Looking good.
I'd bet the folks over at retroremakes would be interested in this.

Are you thinking of keeping the original gfx?
Or are they just placeholders for the time being?

Oooo... where is the Pit of Primeval Slime!?

I've Googled left, right and centre; I've never found a remake of this yet, so yeah!, I have a feeling this might go down well.

As for the graffix, I wanted to keep this as close to the Amstrad version as possible, although I may do another one at a later date with updated graffix etc...

Patients Dave!, the slime is dangling and almost ready to drop. :D

That video is very early test footage, I will hopefully have a few more levels done tonight. ;)

Looks promising.

Looking good, Steve.

UPDATE!!!

I've got 9 of the levels working, no sound yet but at least it's playable. My apologies for the lack of video quality, my camera-phone really isn't behaving itself tonight.

ervin(Posted 2013) [#10]
Looking great!

Just wondering though... is that "glowiness" part of the game, or is it because of the way it has been recorded?

steve_ancell(Posted 2013) [#11]
The "glowiness" is due to the camera on my phone, it just looks normal in reality. The weird thing I don't get, the two videos further up this topic were done on the same camera and yet they don't glow. :-/

steve_ancell(Posted 2013) [#12]
I just found out what went wrong with that video, the lens needed cleaning. :D

Captain Wicker (crazy hillbilly)(Posted 2013) [#13]
looking good. cant wait to try it! :D

Dan(Posted 2013) [#14]
Hello steve, your game looks great.
why dont you make videos with some screen capturing software like:

HyperCam 2 free

or

Camstudio

greetings, Dan.

steve_ancell(Posted 2013) [#15]
Thanx for the info Dan but screen capture on this old and Amish PC just doesn't give an acceptable framerate.

I did try that HyperCam app, tried playing the game with it recording and Monty seems to teleport from one place to another instead of the usual flowing movement.

Ian Thompson(Posted 2013) [#16]
It looks very nice, very CPC'ish! :)

Amish? You mean your PC has an odd-looking beard and a suspicious hat?

steve_ancell(Posted 2013) [#18]
Oh yeah, definitely!. It has cables hanging out all over the place, I suppose that could qualify as a beard. I've not cleaned it for many months either, it's a wonder the bloomin' thing still works.

steve_ancell(Posted 2013) [#19]
All levels done now, just need to add sounds and a title screen, it goes straight into game mode as soon as it's loaded at the moment.
