i would have thought this would have been better as a "mobile web" based app to be honest. That way any web capable device can use it, and at the same time will be about 100x easier to implement.
(You could use a local app with a webview and have a local cache facility for offline use. as a companion as well)
The difficulty and inconvenience of getting files on and off an iphone would make it too annoying imo.
Then there is dropbox and plenty of code friendly text editors to contend with.
