...I used one last year that was pretty cool, in that it told you how many glyphs the font contained (without having to download each font and have a look for yourself), and now I can't find it!

It's quite important for my choice of font that I know beforehand if it includes non-English characters for localisation purposes later on.

Anybody know?

Nice link. There's also http://www.1001fonts.com for which I once wrote a nasty little script that would fetch all the fonts from it. Dunno if it's still functional though.
