My mouse is jerky

Hi, need some help.

Having trouble with my mouse.

When I move the pointer around the screen it is smooth for a bit and then it jumps a fair bit. It should be smooth all the time.

It does not do it all the time, but when it does go jerky it is very hard to play something as simply as solitaire.

This is on my custom build ... my Dell & Sony don't have any problems with the same mouse.

My mouse is a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000.

Any ideas,
Jim

Generally I would go for something is taking too much CPU time, look see if you have any background tasks that kick in when load is low

If it's not dirt\pet hair in the laser port, it's probably broken.

What H&K said... also i will add;
driver issue perhaps? (check what driver windows has chosen for it, and try "generic mouse" just to see if same issue occurs)

Or you can take the easy route...... go buy a logitech. ;)

I think it must have been driver/software issue. I downloaded from MS and all seems well.

Thanks

My cordless mouse does that when the batteries are getting weak.

Sorry to bring up an old thread ....

It turns out that it was not drivers, it was the CPU Meter gadget that was causing the problems. Removed it and no probs.
