does anyone know of a free dos program or dos version that does multitasking? (and how to use it)

I believe DR-DOS is multitasking, and I think it is free, but you will have to check.

As far as I know, MS-DOS does doesn't do true multitasking, except for the appearance of multitasking when it comes to TSR (Terminate-and-Stay-Resident) programs.

(Those allow a program to temporarily come back to life after an interrupt or keypress gets triggered)

No idea about alternate DOSes, though.

This: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DESQview

Um, why are you working in DOS? Just curious...

im emulating it on the nintendo DS for games :)
I like to read the manual and get copy protection codes and quest logs while im playing the game instead of printing it all out.

The emulator only emulates a 086 or 286 so desqview doesnt work yet
